For all the people complaining about comeback mechanics, GG already has a few of them, The Guts, the burst and IK are comeback mechanics, with the key difference that they are well designed.

Guts is not a comeback mechanic, since it doesn't actually add extra tools and options to the character. I'd call it a "survive a bit longer" mechanic and not a "make comebacks with it" mechanic.

Instant Kills can be done at any point of the match without needing to get beaten first, and are useless outside of an anti-A.B.A tactic which the designers carefully planned when they tweaked the character so they don't count either.

I guess I'll point out that the new meter could be a reworked guard bar, i.e. it now fills from zero to full and they just calculate damage proration some other way when the guard bar is empty.

Okay, here is a stupid idea on how the Guard Gauge might visually work without the usual half-full meter, assuming that it will work in the Loketest: If you're blocking it begins to fill the Gaurd Gauge with the red-colored energy from one side, lets say left, if you're getting hit it it fill the gauge with the blue-colored energy from the other side, the right one in this case. Neither energy can be on the gauge at the same time.

Also, in case we're gonna get a playable character other than the known four at the loketest, I hope for Potemkin, wearing an XXL leather jacket like in one of those unlocked artworks.

EDIT: It seems that the Xrd loketest overlaps with the summer Comiket, so there will be less gamer otaku attending the former.

if you're using IKs as a comeback mechanic and they're hitting, either you really earned that win or the other player needs to stop playing the game

Let's not go any further with the comeback mechanic doomsday prophecies plz. At least wait until the game's actually running.

If Xrd incorporated a quick get up/ukemi and a slightly slower, "button" input style grab kinda like P4A, how much do you think it would change the "flow" of Guilty Gear?

I've been pondering that question to myself a bit and I was wondering what some actual skilled players thought on the matter. If Xrd were to incorporate those things, would you be worried, excited or not really care? Keep in mind I don't mean tech rolls like BlazBlue when I say ukemi, and by slower grabs I mean like Persona's speed, oppose to the what, 1 frame grabs of past GG's.

0f grabs are way too important to GG to cut. It'd wreak havoc on how wakeup game works and take away a completely universal reversal option.

If I wanted Blazblue throws and lack of hard knockdowns I'd be playing Blazblue. GG should stay GG.

I would seriously consider not playing the game anymore. I can't stand Blazblue's ukemi system, it just feels wrong to me in a 2D fighter.

I love how you guys jump to gameplay conclusions based on 2 more screenshots.

They've been doing that even without any screenshots, you know.

Hopefully the 3d effect is only for the video and screenshots

I don't see the problem with the 3D for Dusts. The perspective change looks like it could telegraph them well enough to make the start up time much quicker again.

I don't think that awkward angle appears when pressing 5d, unless it hits. But it would make it awkward on start up to set up impossible dusts.

Impossible dust would not probably be possible to do, we get the sensation that the new dust animation is like the first GG, not cancellable & very fast.

That would also explain the impossibility to burst

All the rest is speculation, even if i doubt that they had removed the guard bar system

Are we sure that bursts are disabled after 5d's have landed. The reason I ask this is because there seems to be a an unknown "fire icon" which is the one that has an "x" over it during dust, not the word "burst". In every GG once you can't burst, like during a command grab/super or wtv, the word "burst" has an "x" on it.

I think they'll be implementing a new system in the game, which will be disabled if you are caught in a dust.

Maybe the fire is just there for visual appeal of show that you have a Burst. I myself am gearing forwards the visual appeal.

Then why keep the word "burst" in the HUD?

Maybe it's like P4U and when used up/charging the word "Burst" isn't there at all.

I'm more concerned with possible Guard Bar 2.0, especially if it isn't that.

I didn't read all of the 158 pages...so I am sorry if any one said that before..

i have a theory...considering the announcement of Xrd and the news about location test of the game which was early more than any one expected it.. while R+ is (somehow) fresh and with the delay of the console update ...

I think the game might will be like SF3 series or Art of fighting 3 were is there few old characters + completely new roster...

i know if that were true some people won't like it...but IMHO i prefer that due 2 reasons..

1-new bloods.

2-I don't want to throw R+ away after releasing Xrd.. i want to play both games for years and years..

I think the guys who played Garou MOTW or the games that i mentioned earlier above will understand what i mean..

Unlikely, the initial failure of SF3 pretty much killed the "all new cast + a few returning ones" approach in the Fighting Game genre (Garou and to lesser extent Tekken 3 are popular exceptions, and in case of latter they quickly started to bring back the oldies in the subsequent entries).
