It doesn't work like that, though. Game systems are cohesive wholes, and removing one part damages the others. Adding parts does the same, if you're not careful. The thing that concerns me is that they're removing certain things without a proper form of compensation.

FRC scares me the most, if it's gone. While FRC certainly isn't beginner-friendly, FRC is also what separates GG out from every other anime game. Once it's gone, there's nothing unique that GG has as an edge, system-wise, over P4A, Melty, etc. Sure, there are some things people may still prefer about GG to those games, like how the guard bar functions -- but those are minimal in comparison to difference FRC makes.

To me it sounds like you're just afraid of change in general, I don't think they just said "let's remove it and call it a day", I'm sure they levied many options and outcomes before going forward with what we have now. They're trying something new to appeal to the new environment that the market is today [supported by hardcore and casual alike]. Is everything going to work without a hitch? Probably not, but that doesn't mean we should stop them from trying or that it can't be fixed down the road.

I can see why the possible removal of FRCs scare people but we literally have no [realistic] idea how the "YRCs" work or their application, we should at least see how that works first [much like I'm sure ARC is waiting to see with this test] and on paper they sound plenty unique. I don't think FRCs are the more "unique" feature of GG [considering that pretty much every "anime" fighter WANTS to be GG :v:] the Guard bar, Dust, and general operation of the Tension meter are all plenty unique on their own. FRCs are more a benchmark for player skill as they were essentially "expert" RCs [yes I know for some characters like I-No they are pretty much necessary, but that just shows how highly technical some characters are]

I still say let's wait to see how this [YRCs] plays out first. They still have who knows how long until the arcade release and more than ample time to readjust and refine anything.

I'm less afraid of the effects of removing FRC (though they're going to be negative: it's an options reduction, and that's just bad for the cast balance), and more afraid of the potential effects of the new RC system. Such a sweeping, open option scares me, because that kind of option tends to end up very lopsided. At least one character -- and I would place money on this -- will be able to do something unbelievably stupid with a mechanic like this, while the rest of the cast will have fewer or weaker uses, because their moveset can't take advantage of it as well. At best, everyone gets something unbelievably stupid.

I just don't like the uncontrolled nature of it. RCs had a limitation before, at least, which helped keep them in check. This... not so much.

Well, at least it won't have the 'first game in ASW series' curse lol.

It would be nice if supers gained a minimum damage rating though. That really helped supers maintain usefulness in BB.

I would rather not rush to into conclusions...i'm sure that daisuke- san has (something in his head)..since even a casual GG player can notice the missing parts of the game system so clearly then the game directer obviously will be aware of that ...there might be another things yet to revealed or even hidden mechanics..

lets stay optimistic..

BTW.... about Ishiwatari..

I read that has no influence in the other GG games after Reload ..but didn't he compose the new songs (get down to business ..etc) ?? design A.B.A..?? also does that mean he didn't work in GG AC+ story mode ?

Also, as regards supers: how many characters in this game regularly use their supers, anyways? The Xrd system encourages you to save for supers, sure, but they don't have the greatest track record for usefulness from everything I've seen. It's not even like BB, where they're guaranteed damage. They'd need to implement some serious changes to the supers to make them more worthwhile.

Huh? IMO supers in GG are way more useful than BB supers, because they're actually useful moves that work best outside of combos as reversals and during neutral. Supers as extra combo damage is a bad design choice, as are all moves that are only useful for combo damage. (I'm looking at YOU, Sidewinder)

#Reload is the last Guilty Gear that Ishiwatari was the Director/Producer, he was still involved with future Guilty Gear developments, just nowhere near as active [as essentially none of them were "new" games, just building off what he already laid down]. He still made new music and artwork for Isuka, Slash, and Accent Core [and of course lead Overture development]. I believe he had very little/no involvement with spin-offs [Judgment, Dust Strikers]

He wasn't involved at all in AC+'s story mode at all.

I don't know much about the GG storyline or generally how things roll as I'm not up to date with it all but what do people think on Valentine being playable in the future? I don't know if this is a silly question but how am I to know. Just curious xD

Too many characters in the GG cast I like for me to have even a slight idea of who I want to finally start learning this game with. Seriously having a hard time whittling it down to one character, then there is the issue of said characters probably being pretty hard to learn.

I second this notion! Though maybe its just me, but it would be funny if Robo-Ky wielded Ky's Overtune sword.
