Unreal Engine is known for being well suited to the 360 (see Gears of War), but it's less than ideal when used with the PS3's non-PC-based architecture.

Pretty sure Sony came out and said it's up to the developers if they want their games to recognize PS3 USB devices like arcade sticks. ArcSys would be foolish not to.

It looks like you can enter Hell Fire state without returning to neutral if the opponent uses an RC:

Interesting, although on inspection I don't think the Roman Cancel has anything to do with it. If you watch a little further on, Ky's life starts flashing in the middle of eating a D-Loop. It would appear that the rule is more along the lines of "when you return to neutral at less than 20% of the Life Gauge, or if your Life Gauge drops below 10%".

Edit: The announcer still doesn't say "It's not over yet!" until you return to neutral though, which might be the actual trigger. I guess we'll find out as more time passes.

Does anyone have a link to a video of Sol (crouching) CH 5H Bandit Bringer working? I swear I just did it on the CPU and it didn't combo.

In +R? It seems to be character specific. I tested just now on Slayer, Johnny, and Dizzy, and it works on them, but it doesn't work on May - too small, I guess. So if it doesn't work on May in Xrd that's not a change!

Are things such as 1 frame FD jumps and FD stopping your dash momentum still in Xrd? I see some players try do them but I'm not sure if it's just a habit or if these things are still in the game.

In Xrd. I've only heard people say it's doable but I'd like to see it. I can't remember which character I did it on.

Yeah, but I have a custom stick made out of some cheap Logitech gamepad, I doubt it will work...

Both FD brake and 1 frame jump are in. Of course without the game I don't know if FD jump still works the same or not. As for FD brake that's definitely in the game as I have seen multiple examples of dash > FD break > throw.

Hmm... yea, it seems that she got about half of the meter used to execute the BS when it landed (so about 12.5% meter). It is easy to tell because she was at full bar when she did it. I haven't really noticed this before. I will keep an eye out for it from now on.

Also, yes one frame jump (I think) and FD canceling dash momentum are in the game and seem to feel the same to me

Thanks for the input guys. I admit I was being a lazy ass and was hoping they'd be out so I'd not have to learn to do them (I'm just not used to thinking they exist, not enough experience with the game to have especially the 1f jump feel natural, sadly) but I'll just have to bite the bullet and work them into my playstyle more. There's just never been an instance I recognized that had I done either of them that there'd be benefit from it so I never felt the urge to work on them rather than on other more basic stuff. (though there's likely been tons of em and I just didn't notice or something lol)

1 frame jump is more situational but FD brake is constantly useful to cancel your dash recovery into block so you don't get smacked in the face. Dash FD brake throw is also the fastest way to run up throw. FD brake also has basically zero execution requirements

Bozac how do u feel about the new rc system?..it looks cool..but don't know part of me misses the frc's lol..I like the slow down feature..just seems like they might of taken some skill out bc if the timing of some of them. I'm kindakinda partial to the whole thing right now..though the slowing of time is super coo lol

really i shoulda said how does everyone feel about it lol..

It's just that I never really had an issue of being hit while dashing or anything. I don't tend to just run into stuff. If I needed to stop dashing and block I'd just do it without FDing and it'd work just as well lol. It's not the excecutional barrier but rather the mental one that's the issue. It just never comes up in my mind as something that "exists in the game" generally speaking.

It's likely the fact that I played the vast majority of my GG games only recently when the psn version came out and I finally had actuall opponents to fight against so I haven't had enough time to get used to it existing yet.

I'm astounded that nobody has really been discussing just how versatile the new RC system is. Most players don't seem to be taking advantage of it that much, but the ability to YRC just about ANYTHING is amazing. Hammerfall YRC to Pot Buster? 5D YRC to command throw or to low? Airdash YRC to ground mixup? 1F jump YRC (I think jump YRC cancels upwards momentum) to make something whiff to immediate overhead/punish/whatever? Removing the limitations on what can be YRC'd is clearly going to lead to some ridiculous mindgame wars, since the timeslow gets cancelled the moment the player who RC'd does another input. The only thing I'm upset about is no Grand Viper YRC, because low profile low to YRC whatever would actually give Sol a standard mixup. :v:

Go watch the G-Stage and Mikado 3on3 vids if you think this game is dull. Combos are shorter than AC/+R and damage is higher, but the players who are clearly going to be paving the metagame are the ones who are using the new RC system to its max, and it's glorious to observe.

Even so, the highest level of play is obviously nowhere near where it's going to be in a few months from now. I think I've seen maybe two successful Blitz Shields out of less than ten attempts, and maybe three players taking advantage of YRC'ing normals to new mixups. Everybody is playing it nearly exactly the same as reload when it's clear that this RC system is pretty big game changer. Of course, the game's been out for less than a week. Gotta give it some time.

It's funny,.so far I've seen a lot of Potemkin taking the most advantage out of the new mechanics, 'specially YRC. Kinda like ^Core n' Slashbacks, lol.
