Destin Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Do it too often and you'll get baited and bodied, Machaboo does 66>6hs on oki, if you do it too often people will bait you/grab you and body you for it. Like what Satsu said. It's 23 frame startup.... That's well within the range of reactable. Most ky's use it out outside of throw range for oki because it is a 0 risk throw attempt if in range. So I imagine people might end up not using it at all, as well as not use a bunch of other stuff on wakeup they used to be able to. Net reduction in offensive options for an increase of one defensive option. Baiting is all well and good, but beyond how that simple argument isn't enough, this is a situation where we very well might just see that old pressure disappear. I'm not sure how it will evolve, and I hope it doesn't go down that path. I just thought I heard you couldn't do it on frame 1 of wakeup, and am sad to learn you can. I hope it doesn't turn out to be too much.
Destin Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I don't really think so. If anything the new aspect ratio gives the game more room. Sent from my RM-917_nam_usa_100 using Tapatalk Yeah I agree, I think there is more room. The neutral tends to become more powerful later in the game's lifecycles from what I have seen.
SuperJ Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv170999670 random chipp with 8 wins atm.
STenSatsu Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 At worst it would become meter chicken with YRCed normals. Though I do wonder how it interacts with safe jump setups since you technically hit them.
Mumm-Ra Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I thought it was confirmed that you COULDN'T use bs on wakeup?
Destin Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 At worst it would become meter chicken with YRCed normals. Though I do wonder how it interacts with safe jump setups since you technically hit them. It's not the end of the world or anything, but I don't think it helps the game and hope I am mistaken. Any game of meter chicken like that would detract from the game imo. (Wouldn't it be purple because the move has whiffed?)
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Random note, after seeing both Ain and Machaboo play Ky, I can say with absolute certainty that the Ky player I caught a glimpse of and that everyone else saw was neither Ain nor Machaboo. He plays entirely differently from them and makes use of all of Ky's new tools optimally, which neither of the former players have been able to do as of yet (probably because they don't need to). That Ky player didn't show a exceptionally strong defense/offense nor strong air grab like Machaboo, neither did he play hard negative like Ain. Only guess now would be Hayashi, since Hayashi always does fancy-pants-combos. There's a Ky player who has the 75th highest RR that goes by GG Player, who knows, it could be him. Also Hayashi is now higher than Machaboo in RR?! I really wanna see Eki-chan's Millia tech though. Doesn't he attend Mikado from time to time?
axel Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Also Hayashi is now higher than Machaboo in RR?! I really wanna see Eki-chan's Millia tech though. Doesn't he attend Mikado from time to time? eki-chan is from Kansai, so a-cho is your best bet. I'm more eager to see Woshige if he actually plays Xrd.
NeoJET Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Mikado Saturday 3on3 http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv171021819
ElvenShadow Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 From my experience, whenever I tried to BS on wakeup it didn't come out and I got hit. I watched that Bedman fight in the Mikado singles vid and I dunno what to tell you. Maybe Ky did the 6HS too late. I'm going to Game Platon to play all night in a few hours. I will try to BS on wakeup more and test it out better.
Jakestation Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Mikado will stream the tournaments nowdays also in twitch http://www.twitch.tv/joniosan
SoWL Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 - Impossible..! I was able to stay stable for 30 minutes earlier! - Forgive me! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! Gotta love when GG treats its comic relief characters seriously. (Though I feel like the translation discussions should rather be taken to Zepp Museum).
stickystaines Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 BSing obvious oki would have been the first thing i tried. If it was that effective surely the better players should be on that by now? I mostly see BS during stuff like sol blockstring into bandit bringer or sloppy jump ins. I haven't really seen it that often to be honest.
badgerfan20945 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I just saw a pot vs Ky match on Jonio's stream. Ky hit pot with blitz shield on wakeup when pot tried to 5k him. http://www.twitch.tv/joniosan/b/507306250 (It was around the 27:00 mark). Maybe pot did 5K later causing it to hit maybe?
Appledash- Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 The game says "Reversal!" when you do something on wakeup right? Sent from my RM-917_nam_usa_100 using Tapatalk

Henaki Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Watched some of the archive. Potemkin looks terrible. FAB was generally making about as many good reads as the Sol player he fought and got completely destroyed. Once Potemkin gets in, he really doesn't stay in, and PB does way less damage lol. Unless 6k turns out to be some sort of god tier move, not seeing Potemkin being anything but bottom tier. Edited March 1, 2014 by Henaki

Pot players were using 6K quite a bit early on, but recently i've only seen it in corner combos. They don't do it in blockstrings anymore.

Potemkin like gets pushed out after 2 normals, hammer fall goes NOWHERE, and pot buster gets scaled down HARD via guts and etc. Generates meter like a chaml though Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Henaki Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Don't get me wrong, he's still probably gonna be like 3-7/4-6 with most of the cast (guessing 3-7 vs bedman and zato only, tho), which is pretty close to viable. From the looks of things, I'd really like the heat knocking down in front of him change back, along with like, just a hair more damage on PB so it consistently kills in 4 of them (right now it takes 5 it seems).
D.R.F. Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I hope his big ass 5p hits crouchers again to, so he can tick>pot buster with it again. FD as a whole just looks so strong now. Pushes people out so fast Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Henaki Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 hahaha, faust can use his dust to knock little faust away. that's awesome.
D.R.F. Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Like when chibi faust is in the air? If so then that is dope lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 It seems that Daisuke did a good job on remodelling and rebalancing everyone with fresh new tools on the entire cast, except Potemkin lol.
