Danger Time completely kills the pace of the match whenever it happens. Even when a hit actually connects in DT, it's usually something lame like a 5P, so you don't really see too many hype combos. Basically DT is an awful mechanic and either needs major retooling or to be removed entirely.

TheRealBobMan Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) It's not going to stop me from playing the game and I can almost forgive it because it's so infrequent, but it's pretty derp. It also helps that both players have an even chance to make use of it once it activates, though it's silly that one player can be way behind and use it for a potential comeback off of one mortal counter leading to huge damage and corner push even if they don't have meter. With the changes to RC mechanics this game is somewhat meter management heavy, and Danger Time introduces the possibility to skew the emergent strategy around that for 10 seconds at random. Because that'd make characters with DP instantly better than character with no DPs when it comes to DT. Also if they could just shorten the duration of the countdown before it starts it'd be 214234242 times better (like 3 times faster, just so you know you're in DT).
pulisaurus Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 DT isn't THAT bad when both players go back to neutral after the clash, but sometimes it triggers from a reversal or during someone's multi-hit move. It's annoying to take truckload of damage you really can't avoid without burst just because RNG decided to fuck you over (and feels cheap to win that way too).

Didnt get to test vs ps4 players thou. I hope the patch didnt really make it worse also EU PS4 here, you are describing my exact experience since the patch. Before 2-5 felt great, anything above that was doable until double digits. Now i can't find anyone below 5 and it all feels like 15f+ from before. I will give credit that I've fought 19f that didn't feel worse than the 5f opponents so at least more stable, just an awful baseline. I've been hoping it's just been really distant players populating the eu lobbies, but it's been bad all day I hope they can pin this down, I had some pretty solid games previously.

Completely ruins the pacing of a fast-paced fighter with none of the cool shit that RCs let you do. Don't have it on random (Several clashes in quick succession would be a better system) and get rid of the "HEY GUYS DANGER TIME ARE YOU HELLA HYPED YET SO ANIME" announcement.

At first i hated it but now i kinda think it's cool since your opponent will become super ignorant and you can easily BS him or super coward to the point you can easily throw or frame trap him. You just have to be smarter.

Like Elk said, you have to be smarter in the same way that you'd need to think more if the game was interrupted with a 10 second session of trivial pursuit or more appropriately Mario Party (and it probably wouldn't be any less jarring.) It MIGHT be a step above "Mash X to resolve this clash" although you could argue that it is exactly that.

Why the hell didn't we get gold characters in this game? Playable gold/unlimited/boss characters in the home version has been a standard feature in most ASW fighters since GGX.

Before the patch the delay used to fluctuate up and down all the time. The game itself had to adjust so it kept speeding up or slowing down to sync properly. After the patch it somehow picks one frame of delay and keeps it throughout the whole match. It's better in a way that you don't have to worry about the slowdowns anymore as the game is not sluggish anymore, but the delay is larger than you were used to. Although it's easier to adjust to it after a few games since the speed will always be the same with your current opponent. At least that's how I understand it.

Some germans tried out PS4 ~ PS4 after the patch and said it runs smooth now. I'll keep my hope up (PS4-stick arriving in 1-2 days ....) PS3~PS3 runs mostly very fine for me when i disable skype and other internet stuff, which i also needed to do für +R.
