Uncivilized Elk Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I'm more curious about how the West is gonna receive this game than the Japanese sales.
SoWL Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 My take on Danger Time is that it brings less fun to the game when both players involved are more skilled. If it's a week 1 tournament, Danger Time leads to some ridiculous comebacks that are fun to watch, but don't really affect things on a bigger scale (you still have to win lots of games to even get far enough for DT to really matter). But each time I see Danger Time in Japanese replays, both players just back down and wait for it to end before they start pressing buttons again. Basically, the best way to act during it is to not take any risks, and that's as anti-hype as it gets. I'm not sure it has to be removed, and changing the activation condition to something as ridiculous as clashing multiple times in a row is the same as removing it for good. On one hand, the game doesn't really need it, but on the other hand, it just doesn't matter that often for people to care so much. I can understand that it feels very bad to be on the receiving end of a Mortal Counter combo, but if it's the only reason you lost, you're still going to win more games on average than the player who just landed that combo on you.

To clarify, quick succession doesn't mean bunch of clashes in a row, it just means that say, in the space of 10 seconds 3 or more clashes occurred. You could easily make it like RISC or Barrier and have it be something that builds up but cools down when there's no clashes for a while. And while it's not on the same level as tripping, as people have said it really just grinds things to a halt. Tripping had the decency at least to just happen and not go "YOU'RE TRIPPING NOW ALRIGHT YOU READY 3 2 1 LET'S GO."
r0b0t Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I actually do not have a problem with Danger Time. I do not really see a good reason to hate it. I mean sure it sucks when your the victim in danger time. But I dont hate it.
D.R.F. Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I actually do not have a problem with Danger Time. I do not really see a good reason to hate it. I mean sure it sucks when your the victim in danger time. But I dont hate it. It isn't a game-breaking mechanic, but after experiencing a round-start danger time clash off two j.Ps, it is unnecessary. For people who don't want to be stopped mid-match for "Sudden Death Elimination," it is annoying. Especially when you do stuff like 2K> stuff> GV and do like 50%. Other than that not so bad.
Reifu Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So, there was an error in the install, but it fixed itself. It told me the game was 100% finished downloading when it only have 5GB/7.2GB How did it fix itself? Mine hasn't fixed itself and I've re-downloaded the game twice now. Tried restarting etc.
Maker Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 On the danger time stuff. I wouldn't mind it if the announcement was shorter or it was an actual move property to keep it from happening on small 5p check moves etc. I don't like it per say but that's an entirely other matter.
sren Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58sWQL16k9E guess not every time ends up in both players foldin'
Narroo Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 To me, it's not nearly as bad as "Two Button Reversals" in P4A. The reversals in that game made Wakeup annoying
NeoStrayCat Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Hadn't really thought about this until now, but since it just popped into my head earlier...Why the hell didn't we get gold characters in this game? Playable gold/unlimited/boss characters in the home version has been a standard feature in most ASW fighters since GGX. Yeah, that's what I thought too, but the only traits this kinda form has is only to and in the Arcade Mode when you fight them. (Continuous filled Tension and more powerful Overdrives.)
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 DT isn't THAT bad when both players go back to neutral after the clash, but sometimes it triggers from a reversal or during someone's multi-hit move. It's annoying to take truckload of damage you really can't avoid without burst just because RNG decided to fuck you over (and feels cheap to win that way too). You should always be able to FD out of a clash, even if that clash triggers Danger Time. There's nothing that forces you to take damage.
Dreiko Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 DT is either of 3 cases: -MASH DPDPDPDPDPDPD -MASH 2/5PPPPPPP -block for 10 seconds Either of those is not particularly fun, I mean yeah when you land a hit it's fun but when you get hit it feels not legit and most people just burst right away which in most cases again results in people blocking for the remainder of the time, full screen away from eachother.
Mumm-Ra Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Does Danger time restore air options? Liike, can you air backdash after it?
Ballermachine Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Do black/gold daredevils even appear anywhere? (MOM?) The skins are in the gamefiles last time I checked, but I haven't encountered any in actual gameplay yet.
MasterXDrake Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 DIdn't know people hated DT this much lol.
4r5 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Does Danger time restore air options? Liike, can you air backdash after it? The clash that initiates danger time is still just a clash like any other. Your air movement is not restored. DIdn't know people hated DT this much lol. The people who like it aren't posting, cause they're too busy having fun.

We've forgotten the worst instance. Both players go balls-in (cue excitement) and trade hits, then wind up in Mortal Counter stun for 5 seconds as they both fall in slow motion and wake up from knockdown at 2/3 screen distance from each other with Danger Time already over (cue blue balls).
Stellarcircle5 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I'm probably done doing ranked matches, for like ever, but what's with the MIllia army. I played 1 Sol, 1 Ino, 1 Faust, and 7 Millia's. I thought Frederick was and forever will be the netplay king, why is it that everyone and their mother are playing MIllia, at least when I'm online? Don't worry, people will realize she doesnt equal free wins and switch. Let the bandwagon crash and burn, it always does.
NeoStrayCat Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Do black/gold daredevils even appear anywhere? (MOM?) The skins are in the gamefiles last time I checked, but I haven't encountered any in actual gameplay yet. Not that I know of yet, currently Lv.8 Class, and nothing so far. Also these red (-) unselectable stages are kina a nuisance that you can't pick them and they're probably for the DLC characters I guess? @_@
Kyosuke Kagami Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Is Millia good in this game to have a lot of ranked players? Tried her and she was... weird. For some reason I felt she was slower than her former Reload self. Still fun, though.
Mumm-Ra Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Ogawa says she's the best character in the game, she's at least a contender for best character if not.
MasterXDrake Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 She needs a nerf. Tha'ts how good she is.
Dawn of Musou Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 So what time does NA PSN usually update EST-wise? I wanna know when the game is gonna be available for download.
Uncivilized Elk Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 So what time does NA PSN usually update EST-wise? I wanna know when the game is gonna be available for download. I wanna know this too so I can know when El comes out, though I'll convert your time to mine.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Argh, so the game isn't available yet? At what time do games get released in the store? Getting the PS4 version, BTW.
