Jocelot Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I thought I was crazy. So it was purple. I find it weird there is another RC color that's been in the build. If it's indeed a new RC, I'm super curious as to what its benefits are. Still looks like it takes 50% Tension, so I guess we can rule it out being the cause of the Tension meter being segmented into quarters.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 The game looks a fair bit slower because hitstop is a lot longer. That's something that's very tweakable before release though, should they choose to do it. Also noticed from that video, Potemkin's new 6K tackle causes Stagger on CH. YIKES. I wonder if it's safe/advantage/cancelable on block? That shit could be scary as hell if it is.
stunedge Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I'm abit tired but from the looks of it the game looks abit slower that AC I'm not to sure though seems around BB speed. I gotta watch more videos to be sure... its about the same as AC

I gotta watch more videos to be sure... I believe it's still faster than BB, based on what it looks like during combos (most notable in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-8tVl_PV8U).

Well so far we just have the 1 RC that changes color depending on the situation (Yellow = before, Red = during, Purple = after) I'm not 100% sure on what the benefits of doing an RC late would do at the moment (maybe punish someone's punish?) but that sort of mind game becomes trickier thanks to the obvious telegraphing of your intent. Also stagger is controlled by button presses now, I hope this means I can hold guard while I mash out ; w; and that yellow stuff on the back of Potemkin's helmet, I thought it was apart of it, but could that be his hair? Did he dye it? O.o
Ctrlaltwtf Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Game looks the same speed as ever to me. All the animations seem faithful to the originals as well, especially movement stuff like Potemkin's backdash. I have no absolutely no complaints about Potemkin's new HPB animation. Seeing your opponent's ":O" face before it is just priceless.

Doing a pre-cancel (before active, or with fireball) gives you a longer period of time slowing. Doing a post-cancel (on wiff) gives you a very short period of time slow. Looks like doing it on hit gives you a long time too (see May's throw cancel RC). And yeah I was wondering the same thing about Potemkin, his hair is brown. So it's probably a helmet tassel. xAKUM3TSUx Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 From those vids I can see a couple of things: 1. Seems like the good old GG speed but with some characters having tweaks to some moves. I'll have to see an on screen video before I make a final decision. 2. We finally get to see "Tyrant Rave" both original and his overwhelming DI version *jaw drops*. My opinion, Sol is giving himself more of an configured output that now relies on his sword too. 3. Sol's dive kick looks a lot like "Breakdown" from Overture as someone here stated. 4. Ky's changes look a lot more daring. Gives me a the feeling that I'll be a lot more cautious against him. 5. I want to see more of Chipp!!!! 6. We need Testament lol
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Oh hey, it looks like there are idle taunts in the game now? Just noticed in one vid that Potemkin does an idle taunt before a round starts. Things like that? Totally pointless, but I fucking love them.
Arobadope Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Is May's belly flop after whiffed Ensenga new or is that something she's always had? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaEqPADscLA&t=6m59s
SoWL Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 She had a similar animation for her Mist Finer, IIRC.

No, you're thinking of Jackhound, Mist Finer (as it appeared in the EX ver of her character post originally GG) was her attempting an Iaido slash with her anchor. (in OG GG it was her twirling the anchor causing a gust of wind. Which technically makes the move hers originally since Johnny didn't "exist" yet ) Edited August 11, 2013 by SolxBaiken
Arobadope Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Ah ok thank you! But to clarify it a bit more I was not specifically talking about Ensenga, but her belly flop she does after it, I was more wondering if that was something the player was doing (sort of like a follow up to ensenga) or if it was inherently built into the move. If it was a follow up to ensenga I was wondering if she had it before, sorry when I'm watching videos and get questions I have a really really terrible time phrasing questions. I am awful at multitasking >.<
SolxBaiken Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I'm fairly confident the entire move is one motion, in fact the flop is probably the bulk of the attack.
Arobadope Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Might be, one cool thing I noticed the may player was doing in one vid was he would set up a dolphin, whiff ensenga in the air and May would fall down in the belly flop onto the dolphin which then allowed him to keep pressure up, wonder how gimmicky it is though.

Speaking of May, gotta love the craters her anchor leaves after stuff like 5HS.
shinr Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 The Venom videos debunked my guesses that Baiken and other characters with asymmetrical designs will avoid flipping their clothes/missing limbs etc.
SolxBaiken Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Aside from color, not mirroring sprites would be a pain for a number of reasons on a 2D plane.
Darlos9D Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) The Venom videos debunked my guesses that Baiken and other characters with asymmetrical designs will avoid flipping their clothes/missing limbs etc. Flipping sprites is pretty much so much of a tradition that now 2D fighters with 3D graphics literally go out of their way to adhere to it. Look at SF4 or MvC3. Of course not adhering to it would require one of two things, if you wanted to keep hitboxes and frame data the same regardless of which way the character faced: 1) Make alternate left-facing animations that somehow stick to the right-facing hitboxes. 2) When facing left, characters' backs would just be turned to the camera. This would allow the same animations to be used, but it'd probably look a bit weird from the player perspective. Though really that's how actual 3D fighters like Tekken handle it, so it wouldn't be that weird. I dunno. Edited August 12, 2013 by Darlos9D
Jocelot Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Yeah I'm trying to wrap my head around a post move RC could benefit your character. But with the added benefit of sloooooooooooooow-motion, anything is possible. I just haven't thought of it yet.
