XXXDC Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 some stuff FAB tweeted: -during hell fire state 2HS>heavenly does around 60% on millia, don't remember the reload damage values but going by +R values it does confirm that hell fire add about 10% flat damage to overdrives -5P whiffs on crouchers -6P cannot be cancelled(most likely referring to special cancel) Woah, getting 2hs as a starter? like once in a year. 5p whiffing, 6p not cancellable?... This new Pot is looking really sad. Also, what happened to the "InterContinental Potemkin Missile", is it useful or just a joke move.
Circuitous Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Looking at it raw... it seems jokes. I've been theoryfighting, he can probably use it at the end of air combos? stuff > 2H > Hammerfall Break, j.PKSH > ICPM?
Destin Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Or with YRC as a way to get in around certain types of zoning I imagine
Circuitous Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Yeah, that'd be cute. Feels like Potemkin could get a lot of mileage out of YRCs, actually...
HoudiniJr100 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Also, what happened to the "InterContinental Potemkin Missile", is it useful or just a joke move. The InterContinental what? ._. what exactly does it do? is it an air command grab or something?
XXXDC Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 The InterContinental what? ._. what exactly does it do? is it an air command grab or something? lol that's not the real name. It's called I.C.P.M, pot jumps forward and lands with his head... yes with his head :U
Henaki Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 both hammerfall yrc and icpm yrc seem like really good tools. He gets really strong movement for meter, which is fine. I'm just concerned about his up close game and methods of dealing with meaniefaces like Eddie.
HoudiniJr100 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 lol that's not the real name. It's called I.C.P.M, pot jumps forward and lands with his head... yes with his head :U ...god dammit I was hoping that'd be it. So it's essentially a variation of slidehead...why does the name make me laugh? XD
Jocelot Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Because you're probably imagining Potemkin causing an explosion with his burly heart!
HoudiniJr100 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Because you're probably imagining Potemkin causing an explosion with his burly heart! ...it's likely because I just finished cold war studies in US history. which had ICBMs. :P
TheRealBobMan Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Speaking of acronyms, what does FDB stand for? Flick dat bullet?
HoudiniJr100 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Speaking of acronyms, what does FDB stand for? Flick dat bullet? ...as far as I looked...I saw something kinda low, and something about text fonts... I assume it'd be missie related but no luck yet. ^^;
Henaki Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 ...it's likely because I just finished cold war studies in US history. which had ICBMs. :P pretty sure ICPM does actually stand for that. It makes the most sense.
Jocelot Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I coulda sworn FDB stood for Finger Deflecting Bullet. Which makes no sense in the grand scheme of things (ya think it would be Bullet Deflecting Finger) but hey, Japan.
LionHeartx Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 flick dat back, obviously. flick that bitch imo.
GVGguy Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 flick that bitch imo. Or you could go for the good ol' "Finger That Bitch", but I digress. I may have missed this in earlier parts of this thread, but were most of the IKs tried out? Obviously, I'm the most curious as to what spin Faust's Afro-Nuke has taken this time.
Circuitous Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 So, the way ICPM works seems pretty simple. This is a bit theoretical, though, so forgive me if it turns out wrong. The startup seems to have two phases: the mostly horizontal phase, and the mostly vertical phase. Potemkin goes fetal and hovers very briefly in midair, then springs himself forward posing like a missile, steadily arcing down to the ground. If he hits the opponent during the first phase (horizontal), they're skewered to his pickelhaube and are dragged all the way down with him, where they are then pinned to the ground for pretty good damage. If they're hit during the second phase (vertical), I'm not sure if they get skewered or not - it might just be a regular hit. (#whensPotfootage) It's too slow and obvious to be a legitimate attack in neutral, but YRCing it before an anti-air could be extremely beneficial. We'll see, I guess. My assumption is that it'll be fast enough to hit after a j.H, so he has some air-to-air options. Anyway, I did some digging for Potemkin Xrd info. The wikis/BBS are mostly empty, but I found a few notes. 1. 6K wallsticks on air hit. 2. 5P does whiff crouchers. 3. Faust's 5K hits Potemkin crouching. 4. Heat Knuckle blows the opponent away, no oki. (This is without Extend.) 5. F.D.B. causes too little stagger for reliable f.S followup. Edit: most IKs weren't actually available in the loketest. I think only Ky's and Sol's were completed, the rest had placeholder text.
SoWL Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 4. Heat Knuckle blows the opponent away, no oki. (This is without Extend.) Uhh, so why would you ever not do Extend now?
king of heart Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 lol that's not the real name. It's called I.C.P.M, pot jumps forward and lands with his head... yes with his head :U "InterContinental Potemkin Missile" seems legit!
Jocelot Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I'm not a Pot user by any means, but that change to Heat Knuckle seems kinda sucky.
Destin Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Yeah I think that ICPM was confirmed as inter-continental potemkin missile as well. Before anything, we don't even know how the hitboxes work. If it has a hitbox that you have to respect, it could be a very good move for closing the gap. Or something like YRC buttslam ect. It moves forwards with a constant hitbox, that is a good thing for a grappler.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Uhh, so why would you ever not do Extend now? That's how it used to work and yeah, you always did Extend because there was no reason not to. Pretty stupid, however it's completely peanuts compared to this: 2. 5P does whiff crouchers. This is still the most "holy shit what the hell are they thinking" change. 5P is/was like, Potemkin's best normal? Maybe now 2P will be useful for something though. The intention might be to give him goofy ass grab mixups ala ST, like do 2P, 5P <wiff> PB. Which would be cool, but I sure as hell would not take losing 5P being useful for that. Well, or maybe I would. It's a whole new game, have to wait and see I guess. Edited December 13, 2013 by Koozebanian Fazoob
TheRealBobMan Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Man, fighting Pot is a pain in the ass, but I want to have a reason to remember that he's actually in Xrd. It seems like the only thing he has in this game is "do any move, YRC on startup 50% of the time into Pot Bustah, or don't and just hit them". That's strong, but come on... give him options and just nerf the hell out of his meter gain if his cancel mixups are too good. Or leave the meter gain so he can spend it on mobility options and restrict which normals can be YRCd on startup, so that he'd still have the 50/50s, but you'd be able to know when to expect them rather than have a pot buster come at you at any random time. **** it, give Pot a command throw that has a startup animation that looks like a gold burst.
Delrian Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 **** it, give Pot a command throw that has a startup animation that looks like a gold burst. At least then jumping for an airthrow would work. :D
