shinr Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Yeah, although the "Imitate-2D-as-faithfully-as-possible" style with all the squashing and stretching might make it a little harder than usual. EDIT: While we are on the topic of alt.costumes: Who wants to have Zato-1's Eddie-coat from his winpose as his alt? Edited January 7, 2014 by shinr
Luminos564 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 So now that the game is using 3D models for it’s characters, does that mean we may get to see actual alternate costumes like in Street Fighter 4 or Mortal Kombat, rather than just having different color palettes? I...really hope they just stick with alternate palettes. This is just me talking bias, but SF4's designs left me, to put it mildly, unimpressed. Almost everything about them felt/looked off and the inclusion of alternate costumes did not mask the feeling at all. And I dunno about you, but I've never looked at a GG character like say Sol and thought "Yeah Sol's cool and all but you know what he's missing? A cowboy hat and a hunting rifle strapped to his back". Or how visually more stimulating Potempkin would be if one of his alternate costumes depicted him as a Baywatch lifeguard with a tiny rubber ducky on his shoulders.
Delrian Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 That said, a Potemkin or Axl alt costume of their AC gear would be kind of cool. Maybe even Ky without a ponytail.

That jacket isn't even the first thing that comes to mind for me.
Star-Demon Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I want Baiken cybernetic Arm alt costume with a Command Grab that's as large as c.5S.
HoudiniJr100 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Does professor Fredrick get bunny slippers? :P
Destin Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Uh, I don't know what planet you live on, but here on Earth, GG is way more niche than any recent Persona game. Can't speak to exactly how well P4U sold, but Persona's one of those franchises that prints money in Japan, and even in the U.S., it still has bigger name recognition than GG ever got. I think that might have more to do with the growth in popularity of fighting games thanks to SF4.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 So now that the game is using 3D models for it’s characters, does that mean we may get to see actual alternate costumes like in Street Fighter 4 or Mortal Kombat, rather than just having different color palettes? I'd assume so, that woudl be a great addition to the game. ArcSys is already hella creative with their color palettes for ACR, BB, and P4U having colors from each others games, and anime references or whatever it may be. EDIT: While we are on the topic of alt.costumes: Who wants to have Zato-1's Eddie-coat from his winpose as his alt? That would be interesting, never thought of that. In that case, Ky with his royal cape on would be boss for me personally. I...really hope they just stick with alternate palettes. This is just me talking bias, but SF4's designs left me, to put it mildly, unimpressed. Almost everything about them felt/looked off and the inclusion of alternate costumes did not mask the feeling at all. Or how visually more stimulating Potempkin would be if one of his alternate costumes depicted him as a Baywatch lifeguard with a tiny rubber ducky on his shoulders. Yes, but GG characters could get their "pre-time skip" outfits, like more notable characters Potemkin, Millia, and Axl. That said, a Potemkin or Axl alt costume of their AC gear would be kind of cool. Maybe even Ky without a ponytail. I will personally hand over my wallet to ArcSys if they come out with Ky's Overture attire and is GG1-XXAC outfit. OS i'm really hoping they'll come out with those type of things when the game is released. Along with a Daisuke Sol Badguy voice set.

GG biggest cash source is the Arcade. You should see the major Arcades here in Tokyo on weekends! all +R cabs are full! you can only go to smaller Arcades or stay at home if you want to practice some combos
Blade Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Does professor Fredrick get bunny slippers? :P lol why not? To be honest, I think any "previous official art" of GG characters is fair game for an alternate outfit (which is quite a lot). And yeah, honestly, I'm not surprised ARC sticks with Arcade cash flow, but a lot of people are worried they're abandoning Microsoft. Knowing ARC they might do something yet for X-Box One, but they just haven't told Sony that yet. Not that I have plans to get an XBox or anything. Edited January 8, 2014 by Blade
TheRealBobMan Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 "...I think any "previous official art" of GG characters is fair game for an alternate outfit..." There's a few album covers that I hope come true then, and business suit Venom is a clear choice.
Chainsaw Guitar Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Testament with restored holy order uniform would be pretty cool for the sake of curiosity IMO. Though it would be hugely out of character.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Venom is a clear choice. is there actually a pic of him in a business suit? Testament with restored holy order uniform would be pretty cool for the sake of curiosity IMO. Though it would be hugely out of character. Yes, along with Potemkin in Holy Order attire, from the timeline when Ky was supposed to die during the Holy war against the gears. Seeing those two in Holy Order outfits would be boss. Or giving Sol his Holy Order outfit would be pretty boss oh wait.
LeonD Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 HOW 'BOUT ZATO IN EDDIE'S BLACK GARGOYLE FORM AS AN ALT. COSTUME? lol that would be SUPAH AWESOME!!! ... though it is kinda naked.....
HoudiniJr100 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Well I like the ideas of Order-Sol and Robo-Ky being like DLC palettes, a good idea. I still say professor fredrick is best joke costume if it gets bunny slippers. (all we need now is an actual update to covalent bonds so I can make even more reasons to give professor fredrick bunny slippers!) I was also thinking, Slayer gets DLC costume ala alucard from castlevania? (not sure how hellsing would fit him...aside being vampire related.)
TheRealBobMan Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 One of the unlockable artworks in I think AC+ is Venom wearing a suit.
TAI-X Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 If Sin doesn't make it in as a playable character, it seems like a given that Ky will have a Sin costume. They may want to keep their options open though.
Blade Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Look at the GGX and XX Arcade Endings and you'll see some nice alts.
HoudiniJr100 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I just made this idea with a friend earlier but this is a good idea for Ky He gets a fake gray beard, dies his hair gray, and wears a uniform similar to Kliff's...if he can fake back-spraining, and do his hilarious taunt. It's essentially the best impersonation ever! Unless Kliff somehow gets confirmed...
HolyOrderChipp Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Testament was in the Holy Order?! This I gotta see, in addition to business suit Venom! As for alt costumes in the game, I care not. The default costumes are great and we don't need more, especially if they look silly. And I don't want another Takuma/Mr. Karate situation with Order-Sol or whoever, where looking at the character doesn't tell you who it is.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Testament was in the Holy Order?! He was brought in when he was adopted by Kliff but sucked so much that he didn't qualify, so he turned himself into a Gear, but was partially brainwashed by Justice and ended up joining Justice and the rest of the Gears to wipe out humanity. This I gotta see, in addition to business suit Venom! http://static4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111110183458/guilty-gear/images/1/10/Ggxxac_am_ve.png
Blade Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) ^Um....not entirely true. Testament wasn't part of the order, he just knew Kliff was. The Post-War Administration Bureau turned him in to a Gear. It wasn't his choice. Edited January 11, 2014 by Blade
FallenWhite Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) LMAO, Just because it "rarely" happens it doesn't mean that we can't discuss the validity as a mechanic, specially when the way that it functions is questionable at best Not like things like this could become adjusted from Internet activity/inspire future game devs, ohhh, noooo Well if ended up returning to AC, that would be because of "Danger Time!" that shit is so stupid and i don't know what they were having when they came up with that idea. Relic from not knowing what to do if two heavies hit from the old clash system I believe. Having it so the simultaneous recoil only happened if two levels "4 or higher"s clashed, and sticking to the old immediate cancel if two level "3 or lower"s was probably a bit too recoil heavy. We might even get a console release by the end of the year. I wonder how will they schedule this and P4A2 so that they don't cannibalize each other.
