Airk Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I sincerely believe that run up DP is a legitimate tactic. It's a hilarious mindgame. I DP people on their wake-up, and I even DP during my own pressure (for this, I'd keep 50 meter though). I usually wouldn't DP during my wake-up though. Seriously, Ragna 623C is way too good to not use it a lot, and in a variety of ways. Run up DP or even 'oki' DP is totally legit if your DP is as good as Ragna's. It's pretty stupid with most other characters though. OTOH, Gashoukyaku is bullpoop.
Errol Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Biggest pet peeve is when I play Koko and people complain about her being broken even though I didn't do any of the 'broken' shit, just 2k BnB's, like ssoooo op amirite? if you press a button with her you're using broken stuff.
NecroTheReaper Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I lol at 2A mash oki and end up getting a free back throw into corner. 2A mash to me is so annoying. Relius doesn't have any reversals, why the eff would you mash 2A unless its OP mixup like Tao's? xD
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 You would be surprised by how often I do this with a serious look on my face. I think most people that play me know that when I pick Ragna, half of the time I should be 5Bing I will be DPing instead. More at neutral than at wakeup. I think one of my pet peeves is something that helped me develop bad netplay habits, aka people mashing buttons\jumps during pressure. Because of that I learned to frame trap and\or to keep strings tight rather than attempt stuff with large openings such as overheads, which definitely hurt my game. I have mostly gotten past that I think, but it's still one of those "SIT STILL AND LET ME DO FANCY STUFF YOU SHIT" things for me. I feel this way when I'm in the middle of a combo and someone bursts immediately. Everyone always bursts on CH 3C with Hakumen, always. Its like they don't wanna take potentially 5K to the face.
TD Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 if you press a button with her you're using broken stuff. ^that's the idea behind op characters. truth be told you fucked up at the character select screen. anything after that should be expected, so you might as well brace yourself. @necro its so they dont commit to a high recovery move that will get stuffed by backdash/50 heat reversal/jump. the idea is that once they see you blocking they will adapt to combo/pressure while not overcommitting. ironically it isnt as easy to time, nor is it failsafe but its legit, 'ok' oki.
jimmy Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Biggest pet peeve is when I play Koko and people complain about her being broken even though I didn't do any of the 'broken' shit, just 2k BnB's, like ssoooo op amirite? you don't even need to do busted combos for her to be the most obnoxious character in the game by a long shot, any time the other character tries to play neutral you can just hit the D button and make them completely lose control of their character how cool is that this is, like everything else, vastly more annoying online, where movement is, like everything else, much harder to do man these koko rights activists and their persecution complexes :TA:
ReynTime180 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 One of my pet peeves is just when people say that a character is "Useless" competitively. True, while their are some characters who have it a little easier with system mechanics, most of the time it's going to take in account whose the better player in terms of skill. Since I usually play Makoto, or in P4A's case, Naoto. I have to deal with quite a bit of this... For starters, while Makoto has the shortest range in BlazBlue, as of CP, her damage output is the most consistent CP, and she actually has one of the most practical okizeme in the game when in the corner, and her pressure is riffled with nasty frame traps and some mix ups that can be hard to read. Lastly, her defensive options are rather decent when compared to other characters, having a DP, A Parry, and a strong Back Dash and fast jab. What ever you do, please don't call a character useless, or Unviable, simply based on their placement in tiers. Their all useful and dangerous in the right hands. Hey, if someone calls your character useless or bad, it's all the sweeter when you win with them
Stellarcircle5 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hey, if someone calls your character useless or bad, it's all the sweeter when you win with them I agree with this wholeheartedly. It kind of sucks playing a top tier because people get this assumption about how you view the game. I've played Valk for almost two years, and I still get blown up by Terumis, Makotos, you name it. But I can't even get frustrated about it because I respect the hell out of anybody who makes these characters work. Shoutouts to Arakune players for being ridiculous.
ReynTime180 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I hate people that pick their character based on 'tiers', there's a name for those kinds of people. I also hate the implications of tiers. If you like a character for their character or playstyle, play them, but not for some meaningless list. Shoutouts to Arakune players for being ridiculous. I actually find fighting Kunes fun in CP
Kiba Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I agree with this wholeheartedly. It kind of sucks playing a top tier because people get this assumption about how you view the game. I agree with you. People assumed I picked up Valk because he was top tier but I'm sure most people know by now why I use him. The sig says it all. I do play to win, and I want to win, but I'm not gonna use a character I don't like. I normally tend to like the below average characters in games for some reason, and it makes me even more determined to win with them. Remember CS1 Tsubaki? Dire times... pulsespot Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I hate playing in Mic lobbies and being forced to listen to your crying baby or your mom telling you to come get dinner. All that background noise makes some Mic lobbies unbearable. Sent from my VS840 4G using Tapatalk

Sent from my VS840 4G using Tapatalk Sometimes that kind of stuff is funny, but if it's like the dude is playing music RIGHT into the mic, it's just invasive and unnecessary
Dazardz Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Chicken. Blocking. Call it WHAT you want, but I have had ENOUGH of Kagura's mere 2A missing on wakeup because they just JUMPED out of it. I know I should be able to deal with these things easily, but I just... man...
Effenhoog Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 lately I have been having a lot of people that will beat me in a couple decent matches, then proceed to pick random side characters which i have to stomp for 12+ matches before they will finally go back to their main. I'm just trying to learn some matchups, please use your real character
Wonderswan Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Also, on the whole switching to subs things, I'll do it if I'm not feeling my main at that point of time, for example, If Im trying to play Valk and the connection isn't too hot, I'm not gonna play him again, as I'll just get mad, so Ill switch to a character who I'm more comfortable with in that connection, like Azrael. I mean no disrespect and if someone thinks Im being a dick, I'm happy to explain and if they say "hey man, let me play your valk" I'm sure I can muster up the gusto to give it another go. Yeah, what I was saying originally wasn't about subs, it was about close matches or matches where you could tell both players were really competent with their character. Then after losing they try to save pride and start dicking around Tsubaki doing unsafe strings, moves, and hella basic BnBs. I usually just end up leaving at that point. It's even more obvious when they will play half the cast against you rather than pick their shit. As for tiers, nobody outside of Japan should be taken seriously when they mention tiers. Honestly, EVO is going to be so free to the JP, I'm sure 0's Bullet could come alone and win it with little struggle. Hell for that matter I'm sure someone with some brains and dedication could take a major with 'insert mid/low character'. This isn't BBCP, this is American BBCP after all.

So you've played BB in Japan? Add 'people who think "american bbcp" is a thing' to the list of pet peeves.

Wonderswan Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 So you've played BB in Japan? Add 'people who think "american bbcp" is a thing' to the list of pet peeves. lol I didn't know there were people who were bothered by this. Cute. Though I guess it's more accurate to say 'non JP BBCP', as everywhere else has the same problems. A couple thousand miles between players, some of the most god awful internet trying to bridge them, extremely small player base, long periods between experience and refinement, etc. Or are you one of those people who believes you do more with less?
ReynTime180 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Well there is such a thing as American Bbcp, besides the obvious 'they have bigger/better connections and communities than everybody, there's also a difference in mindset. Japanese players play to learn, whereas American players usually play to win.
Sadeyo Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Cowards who run away after one match. Win or lose you should stay a little longer for the heated battle.

I'm one of those people who has played in Japan, and knows there are a LOT of not so great players over there. Duh, better conditions, including having a lot more people playing the game, will produce the best players. But we have very good players over here too. Or did you not see P4U at Evo. Yeah, there's a difference. but I disagree with the way it is presented.
Airk Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Chicken. Blocking. Call it WHAT you want, but I have had ENOUGH of Kagura's mere 2A missing on wakeup because they just JUMPED out of it. I know I should be able to deal with these things easily, but I just... man... Uhm, if they are jumping out of your 2A on wakeup, you screwed up your timing. You've got 3 frames of active time that just need to overlap with ANY of their 4 frames of jump startup and you'll hit them. If they got out of the way, you did your 2A way too late and they probably could've just 5A'd you in the face instead of jumping out, so count your blessings.
Sanger Zonvolt Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 People who pick the same character as you after winning against you with a different character, I don't think there is a bigger asshole move.
