Myoro Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I have a peeve! Well not a peeve really, but more a complaint over something that make me feel powerless rather than irritated. I don't like it when I'm playing a set or something and I do something to irk the other player to where they're clearly upset, and they don't tell me what it was that upset them. I feel like I'm continually being a jerk and I don't know what to change, and I feel like crap about it. Like I always use Relius in the lobby (Unless by accident I mashed and I was using Tao in training mode before hand.) Some people get angry because I don't hold back against anyone no matter who they may be or at what level they are. I always go all out and use anything I think will help me win. That's my style. If anyone ever said "Ease up" I would, but they never do, and I'm also afraid of disrespecting people by holding back. It's also stressful finding the right time to leave a set of fights when I want to fight someone else, join a friend's room, leave for work, do dishes, or whatever. People get randomly angry, no matter who won or lost the last match, or whether it was a single match, five, ten, or thirty matches, I always seem to trigger people when I go. Stuffs hard to deal with.
Airk Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 There's even a specific canned message for "go easy on me." if I remember right, even ignoring "Let's take it easy and have some fun."
StylisH Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Platinum is a scrub character? While she has some easy to pull off combos, she's kind of difficult to use correctly due to her random items. People don't like Plat mostly due to Heart Car and Cat Hammer spam. Throw in lack of match up knowledge and there you go.
D.R.F. Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 People don't like Plat mostly due to Heart Car and Cat Hammer spam. Throw in lack of match up knowledge and there you go. And plat is a hard character to play well. I refuse to let anyone tell me otherwise. Although like most item characters she is real obnoxious
Myoro Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 There's even a specific canned message for "go easy on me." if I remember right, even ignoring "Let's take it easy and have some fun." And then there's the fact that I don't have the english version, so those messages are translated into Japanese so I can't understand... O_o
Monarch Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I just fought my first competent Taokaka today, and holy hell, how do you catch this character?
D.R.F. Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 ^ you probably should be asking the tao boards but usually you WAIT. There is actually a lot of gaps in her blockstrings and you need to call them out. But yea she is all over the place and you need to be patient
Myoro Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Who do you play? Large AoA moves are pretty dandy. Something like Ignis' 4D goes miles for keeping her in place. Once you get her blocking you hold on tightly and don't let go. If you wait you'll be in pressure and mix-up forever, so if you can pin her in neutral you're better off.
StylisH Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I just fought my first competent Taokaka today, and holy hell, how do you catch this character? You don't. Chasing her is exacty what she wants. You have to take advantage of her slipping up and do your best to kill her before she escapes again. It's a pretty annoying match up.
Nemesis Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 because you can't get hit out of a throw. I invite you to try With Jin, what I did against Nemesis was actually run-up 623C, it beat both Origins and Steins for a CH combo into pressure. It only worked like half the time, but I didn't get punished too badly cause I only either got hit by Steins or got hit by Origins and had to try it again. Remember how I TOLD YOU I used the majority of our latest games as a theory testbed? Im gonna go ahead and put this as a petpeeve : when ppl think they understand how to deal with X pressure/tech but they dont and then post about it - creating false understandings in the community making everyone dumber. Making it harder for me to expect intelligent responses to my experimental tech and it taking longer to develop.... Stuffs hard to deal with. As was previously posted : you gotta learn to fight/play for yourself and FUCK YO COUCH NIGGA Seriously tho -- Fuck yo couch nigga Im not even kidding here... I REALLY REALLY used to be just like you - and it used to hurt me that ppl would get so upset in games vs me. And this was WAAAAAY before I was even considered slightly good. You really must learn to not allow what other ppl think to assault your senses or you will find that you are holding back - whether you think you are or not
Blade Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 ^ It's only experimental tech if you do it a few times in a match or two/training mode to test it. It's auto-piloting if you do it/get away with it consistently without thinking about doing it.

Probably the most uninformed thing I've heard someone say in awhile - I dont know you but clearly you dont know what your talking about - back to my original pet peeve - ppl talking about things they dont understand but acting like they really do
Dawn of Musou Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Remember how I TOLD YOU I used the majority of our latest games as a theory testbed? Making it harder for me to expect intelligent responses to my experimental tech and it taking longer to develop.... Ah k, sorry. I suppose that means you already know how to beat it then? As well as a much more legit way to beat that tech of yours.
Nemesis Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Ah k, sorry. I suppose that means you already know how to beat it then? As well as a much more legit way to beat that tech of yours. Im sure you remember me asking you to do your best to help me identify holes in one particular stein setup that I was and am still currently developing and experimenting with - I purposefully put myself in situations that would allow you to get so close so that I could see the openings even with my DP reactions to your proximity. Sigh...
Dawn of Musou Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 My memory is pretty hazy tbh but if you say so then it probably happened. Sorry again for sounding like an assuming idiot then. Good luck developing that setup.
Argent Zero Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 pet peeve.... Hm... random disconnect, counter-picking, DPs, players that don't know the basics of etiquette is? Also, people this a "pet peeve playing online" thread. Not a bashing thread. If you want to call each other stupid, look down on each other, give advice(lol), or just eat at each others throats, do it somewhere else. Play/post nice and dribble on about the flaws of net-play, not each other. In the end, we are all victims/suspects of net-play, no?
susano Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 People who use very unsafe moves over and over again and not learning from it. For example, how many times do I have to punish Platinum's Mami Circular (spell check?) in order to get through to your head? Cancel that shit dammit! Reminds me of a Nanase I fought in UNIB. Everytime I blocked his random slidy move into overhead, I punished. Then he got mad because I punished it with my baby-steps Gordeau. >_>
Airk Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I invite you to try Sure; You have to play me first, and then my slow cogitating processes have to identify what we're even talking about. I don't think it's impossible for you to cover an entire -26 frames with stein fire without leaving a 7 frame gap somewhere, but WTF do I know, since Mu is one of those characters where frame data is necessarily incomplete. ("How long is a stein shot active for? Who the F knows!") But it seems like it would require a bizarre amount of setup, making this less of a "LoLz, you can't punish my DP!" and more of an "in this precise circumstance, I can use a DP as part of my pressure" - which is really not all THAT different from say, Relius, doing stuff like Id Lauger and in the hopes that you'll try to punish and get punched in the face by Ignis. Anyway, I suspect very strongly that some characters can beat the setup using specific and possibly unlikely to be "natural" options, because that's how these games work. I mean, people figured out punish combos for Kokonoe's stupid super ball reversal.
StylisH Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 There's no way in hell I'm jumping into a theory fighter pissing contest. A certain peeve I have is trolling in an obviously serious lobby. If you're going to act stupid, at least do it where it's YOUR lobby.
BloodWolF Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 This isn't really a "pet peeve", but logging in for some CP after the Uniel launch and seeing 130+ people on the JP servers and 0 on the US ones and wishing I had godlike internet to reach that far. I just want to work on my neutral game..
Raziul Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 All the assholes that swoopin on someone's spot after a match just ends. Yeah, you can all go die in a fire.
Speakeasy Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Whenever I'm on ranked (because lol dead arcade lobbies), I enter with parameters set for 2 bars or above. 2-bars are generally really nice connections and I know that consistently finding 3-bars to play with on a regular basis with my internet is a pipe dream, so I'm more than happy to hit up any 2-bar I see. Sometimes I'll see someone on the list with a 2-bar connection and try to match up with them, and it tells me my connection is too low for their parameters. I understand 100%, but man, quit being stingy with your connection.
D.R.F. Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 A lot of people can't block. Thats their fault for being bad:p
