ReynTime180 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 As a Tager main since CT, I still assume top tier Tager is a load of shit. This is what, the third time the claim has been made early on? I fully expect him to drop back to mid or low once more people actually get their hands on the game. All I have to say is that they've slowly been making Tager better and better and 5D wallbounce
StylisH Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 When the only people online I can find are either those with 3000+ matches played and a 1-2 bar connection, or 3-4 bars with like 80 matches played. I'd rather not play good people in bad delay, nor do I want to bully new players for meaningless free wins. I guess I just won't play at all. .-. All I can say is offline

As one of those people with less than 100 online matches played, I can assure you we don't mind getting thrashed as much as you might think. We're just desperate to play the game with anyone, and maybe learn something along the way. (All I ask is that you don't skate through two rounds and then add insult to injury by comboing into your AH. That's just a dick move.)
susano Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 When I have to relearn matchups because I haven't played a game in like two months. ._.
Guilty Valentine Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 What exactly makes Tager bad? Idk much about tiers or anything, but he seems like has a good amount of tools to go with his grapple playstyle.
ReynTime180 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 What exactly makes Tager bad? Idk much about tiers or anything, but he seems like has a good amount of to go with his grapple playstyle. As of right now, just the fact that he's big and slow. He used to be really really bad with no combos, damage, or oki, but that's all been slowly given to him. So pretty sure Tager is A+ or even S tier by 2.0
Koopa_Klawz Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Not much of a pet-peeve but when someone says "ggs" and leaves before I get a chance to say "ggs". ;_;
Kettlin Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Finding someone around my skill-level online. That seems impossible now
Dark Ranger88 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 *Bait a burst* *Opponent doesn't have a burst* ...in a crowded room ...in a crowded stream room.
Hollysmoke Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 *Bait a burst* *Opponent doesn't have a burst* ...in a crowded room ...in a crowded stream room. Just do what most SF IV players do: Blame it on the stick :B
just some guy Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 What exactly makes Tager bad? Idk much about tiers or anything, but he seems like has a good amount of tools to go with his grapple playstyle. Slowest character, worst movement options, very heavily reliant on gimmicks, pretty poor anti-air options, absolutely horrendous matchups against zoners and characters like Ragna that can effectively zone him with long reach on their normals, etc. He's far from being as bad as he was early in the series, but he could certainly use some buffs or changes.

mAc Chaos Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 He's not really bad anymore. It's just fun to reminisce.
LiveWireX Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Lol, I dunno. Netplay Tager's never been a fun thing for my poor Noel.

Can't say I agree with all of this, his anti airs are really good in the current version and not that gimmick heavy anymore. In fact, he almost doesn't need them
Hollysmoke Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 He's not really bad anymore. It's just fun to reminisce. It's even funnier when people think he's still bad and go on him with that train of thought.
LiveWireX Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I've just always gone in on him with the "oh shit, most of my stuff is projectile so I can't YOLO for lols" mindset, lol.
LaowPing Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I hate Tager with a passion. He's like a boss fight in DMC. You work so hard to get the boss to low health, playing damn near perfectly, and then you fuck up ONE TIME and there goes all your health. I feel like they made his super grab have a long animation just so you can lean back in your chair and go "Really? That just happened? I spent this entire match staying in control, trying do be as flawless as possible, and you use one move and I'm dead? Sounds fair." Also, Jin squad for life.
TD Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 The thing is (and this soon may change come 2.0 which I doubt, but he's considered high tier in that game so), it's easy to not make mistakes vs Tager, if you have to matchup know how. Like some people want to just try to whittle the tank's behemoth health down too quickly, which is a very brave and foolish thing to do; or those who are so fearful of the giant that they resort to cowardice tactics only, including on defense. You, like many, seem to have that problem of being too close to Tager in the first place. If you play Jin, it is paramount that you are spacing him the entire match with your safe attacks at their max range 5c, 2c for anti air, ja in some situations, 2d, 6b point blank and on wakeup to discourage grabs, etc, making blockstrings short and effective, backing off when necessary... Most tagertots outside of high or top level simply cannot deal with people playing their matchups correctly. It may be painful to not be in his face, may have to be meticulously planned, matches may drag on to the point where it would be jin vs the timer, but this is what you have to do most of the time until you can get successful reads. So the next time you get hit by a 360 or 720 you need to ask yourself what you did wrong, how you got hit, and what you were pressing (or not pressing).
mAceOfHearts Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Not much of a pet-peeve but when someone says "ggs" and leaves before I get a chance to say "ggs". ;_; I make it a point to always wait 10 seconds after posting a "GGs" to give my opponent time to post one as well. That is, unless I send the GGs as a message over PSN, in which case I usually include compliment as well. (EG: "Great games, very solid [X] pressure, nice use of [Y]")

You HAVE to be close if you want to do anything. And whenever you end pressure you're either right in front of him negative or flying towards the corner from Asteroid Vision.

I dunno if Makoto can even confirm into anything at that range though. Also, my footsies are weak, so sometimes I get CH 5D'd and that's bad.
StylisH Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 All I know is, if you were laughing at Tager before, you won't be laughing for much longer.
LiveWireX Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 It's a laughter, but it's a laughter of dread and rage, lol.
Raziul Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Apparently Jin is the only playable character in the game now.
