Lostconfused Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I'm familiar, and DFC ran me roughly as much as every other FG i've imported from Japan at full price. Ah ok, still its probably better to argue price point from the content the game has. I mean Xrd is $50 in US right now, comparing prices between regions muddies things up so much more.
Grim-reaper Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 For the love of kawai, what does tomoka and her friends say during the ro-kyu-bu super ?
Kyosuke Kagami Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 They say "Yatta~" Well, I'm probably picking Asuna, Tomoka and Shana. Asuna and Shana because I like their respective shows lol, and Tomoka because she seems too fun to use. Still tempted in trying Miyuki
Grim-reaper Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 No, the long sentence not the yatta one ! XD Sounds like it ends with " saiko daze ".
Renvalt Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 No, the long sentence not the yatta one ! XD Sounds like it ends with " saiko daze ". They're saying "Shougakusei wa saikou daze", which literally translates to "Elementary schoolers are the best". I think Subaru said it at one point during the anime (though because of the story's whole plot bits it could be misunderstood to be a Lolicon's battlecry; take that for what you will).

This is a big meme in japan actually. Inspired by that show. In a recent bururaji episode Sugita even quoted the line himself in response to a question that was mailed in.

I still can't comprehend how I feel about it. I mean, on one hand, the line's really coming off with some sorta pedo-ish vibe; on the other hand, perhaps Japan sees big value in the potential of children (considering that Children's Day is part of the Golden Week celebrations, IIRC)?

No, it really is a jokingly pedoish statement aimed at illiciting a response of being creeped out by onlookers who don't get that the speaker is jokingly expressing those sentiments. Such jokes are much more common in Japan it seems as Sugita (Ragna's VA, he also does Gintama and a bunch of others) was fine saying it, though he does have a sorta-pervy persona on the BB radio show.

Not sure if that can be considered a persona, since Sugita acts like that all the time. Ahem. I wasn't sure about getting the game, but since the HK version is so cheap, I might actually get it now. What are everyone's first impressions so far? Do you find the characters too similar to each other? Any Assists that feel useless/overpowered?
Renvalt Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Do you not know about Ryo-kyu-bu? The show was hella lolicon bait Of course I know about it. I just dropped it midway into the second season because I was just uninterested with shit in general (as usual). Having seen a few clips of Gintama myself, I'm starting to wonder if Japan isn't even crazier than I am. And people call me that quite often (if not that, then "annoying" would be the other word they use). And yeah... Japanese pop culture is something I don't think I'll ever truly understand (generally because people like to troll me into their version of "the truth"). Having said that, I'm not capable of getting this game atm ($50-60 is extremely out of my price range, and I'm not expecting serious XMas moola this year), but if I were, I'd pick Kirito 14/Sadao 12, Yukina 11/Enju 11, or Kirito 6/Leafa 10 (on account of those colors being a reference to another game that I'll let you guess). Note: The numbers denote the alt colors.

Apparently season two is called " shougakusei wa saikou daze ". So you're must be right. TIME TO YELL THAT EVERYTIME THAT SUPER IS LANDED ! <3 <3 <3
Vesperion Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Those who want the game a tad bit cheaper, get it from the Hong Kong PSN market if you're going digital. It's basically what I did. I'll get the DLC from the JP market (since it's not in the HK market). The game has some DLC up? What is it if you don't mind sharing
Grim-reaper Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 The game has some DLC up? What is it if you don't mind sharing I guess it's for quick-unlocking the stuff you can unlock with in-game currency. Some people just don't have time ! XD
Rhiya Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 You do get in-game currency much faster in DFC than in UNIEL, though. -Much- faster.
Grim-reaper Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Good to hear ! Because UNIEL did get on my nerfs sometimes and i just gave up until my spare partner came home for some long hours of casuals and i'll find myself unlocking tons of money at the ed of the session.
OneWingedAngel Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 When you to go to customize, it seems like you can buy a ton of japanese titles using the ingame currency. The "english" section didnt seem to have too many options, is there a way to buy a completely editable title that we can enter ourselves?
thiz Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Most stupid question ever, but I cant find the answer anywhere... how do I unlock Selvaria?
Vesperion Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Most stupid question ever, but I cant find the answer anywhere... how do I unlock Selvaria? Looks like you need a bunch of super finishes and no continues. At least that's how i saw it.

Note: The numbers denote the alt colors. Understanding culture isn't something you go to other people for. You just develop it gradually after enough time being immersed in it. There's no singular answer and any single person's take on it will differ some. What you wanna do is just put in the time and develop your own take on things rather than adopt someone else's take as "truth". Not sure if that can be considered a persona, since Sugita acts like that all the time. 1384359973748.jpg Don't forget about this either: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjCWeHYTmDU

So wait... you just take risks and hope the Japanese don't see you as some offensively weird gaijin weeb? Because part of the reason I care to learn the "truth" (if I can call it that anymore, since now I'm not sure) is simply because I know America's more culturally dickish (at least from what I've seen - met more disrespectful jackasses than respectful) and I've heard that kind of attitude won't fly over in those parts. It's more like... how do I put this? I'm trying not to hit any insult flags with those guys, as I don't know what might be culturally insensitive to them. That sound comprehensible*? *Note: I lack a better word for this, but trying to understand other cultures is something I've never really been good at, on account of people telling me to worry more about "being American".
