Tempered Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 It should work. But with all of Seth grab > cs combos you seem to have to do 6c asap after 214cc
Rei-Inari Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 At the 7:20ish mark during that video Rion did 214B > 632146A/B > CS > IW. He ended up catching Gord out of his 3C before it could hit him. You can cancel Seth's 214XA/B series into another special pretty much immediately.
brett_ Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 it's 214B~A > Command Grab that he's doing it looks like. (The A followup counter has a shield-looking effect when it triggers). It's also worth noting that the 3C is most likely a crossed up 2C input (1C), since 2C is a really good answer to Seth doing 214X~B stuff. Regardless, nice corner setup

Im trying to figure out how to get the frame data for the startup of a character's normals/specials.

Regardless, nice corner setup The way you can tell that it's not the A followup counter is that when Seth gets a successful counter using that he will always reappear on the side he originally started the dash. It is a fairly nice setup that could help open people up if you seem to be having a rather hard time doing so. I also slowed the video down and watched it a couple of times just to make sure, no life to be had here :p
MabuRabu Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 For the life of me I can't figure out seth, and I really really want to be good with him too. how the heck do I land the 6C in 5A > 5B > 5C > 214C~C > 6C > j.236B etc.? i'm fine up until the 6c part but the opponent always recover before the 6C hits. What do? Also for another combo in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB-BZAv6xYc in the beginning where he does 2a>2a>5b>5c>214x~C>66C>623b> etc I can also for the life of me not land the 66C. What am I doing wrong and can someone shed some light for that?

What am I doing wrong and can someone shed some light for that? About the 5A > 5B >5C combo.. you want to do it as quick as possible iirc. Due to the starter of the combo being 5A/2A.. you have less time to land the 6C. Someone correct me if im wrong on that. Also, are you doing this combo on Linne? Although this combo is possible on Linne.. it's a bit harder to do considering her hitbox. As for the 2A > 2A > 5B combo, that actually whiffs on Eltnum if you're trying to do it on her. As soon as he recovers from 214x~C is when you want to do the Dash C. I know this combo works on Linne as well. A tip: You can just input Dash C as 66C.

True_Tech Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 very very curious if based on that video i can do j.b, 5b, 5c, tk j214a, 5b, 623b, 214a~c, etc. I will try it tomorrow afternoon when i wake up if someone hasn't tested it before me.

tdsholo Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 So I have a few questions about seth. I plan to main this character and, since he's so technicall, I want to have the most amount of info I can before starting to lab. 1- What routes should you know for playing seth? I know the stuff > 214X~C > 6C > j.236B > j.214A > etc is the optimal, but what other routes a seth player must to master and why? 2- Can someone give me a detailed explanation of the 214X series regarding presure? Thank you very much~

Falco252 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 That's cause merk's 236C is really hard to punish (some chars can't even punish it without veil off or IWEXs), for other moves just use record mode.

brett_ Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I notated Time Lag Cloud: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mloWyhRE-Y If any mistakes let me know. -snip- Nice work! It's not a big deal but my assumption is those tk j.214A's are actually forward, not 2147's (I guess you could do 7 if you want only 1 hit?) - don't have training mode access on me atm so I can't confirm, but when I messing with that route in the past it felt stable from forward jump rather than back. Not a big deal regardless notation wise lol.
Falco252 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 jC > jB > 5B > 5C > 9 > j.214A combos so idk if he's doing tks, depending on the timing you get one or 2 hits.
o Nereus o Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Now that my wiki account was created, i went ahead and edited the damage on Seth's normals/dash normals. Now i need to figure out how to get the frame data for the startup frames. Also.. thanks to one of the Seth cmvs.. i managed to extend my j.C combo even more: j.C > 2C > 623A > 5B > 623B > 214A > Hold C > 6C > j.236B > j.214A > 214B > Hold B > 22 or 2A+B > Dash C > j.6C > j.214A > 214B > Hold B > 214C. Does 3862 no vorpal and like the previous one.. it costs 100 meter.

Also I'm not sure it's perfectly correct, hopefully he did count the one frame with the input display thing or whatever and it's correct and not off by a frame
Rikir Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 https://twitter.com/Al_Rikir/status/499262049969799169/photo/1 I couldnt figure out how to post a JPEG on DL X_X ANYWAY. Did a test for how positive you can get with a meaty 66C. Dont have any frame equipment so ghetto lab experiment away. ----------- Lab Report Start... Procedure: Recorded 10 trials of performing a 66C meaty after a 6C knockdown from CH 3C. Meaty is timed after "RECOVER" annotation appeared, 66C is performed at that time. After each trial a screen cap is taken and the distance between the white Seth's belt buckle and the black Seth's belt buckle is measured with a red line. Length of red line indicates how negative black Seth is.Two control points "Control Pointblank" and "Control Midscreen" are used to help comparison. "Control Pointblank" is a 66C done from the closest distance possible and "Control Midscreen" is done from the match start distance. As a scale, "CRTL P" is as negative as the move gets and "CTRL M" is roughly the most positive. Analysis: Trials 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10 are all between the two controls. Trials 4 and 9 are below "CTRL M". Trial 6 is above "CTRL P" and is probably just an outlier (measured at wrong point of jump). Conclusion: TLDR If you time a 66C meaty right then you're more plus than if you just used it normally but overall still negative.
