At the very least, i can see why Arc sys has chosen to not let CH on GCOD. It would be ridiculously stupid on characters with extremely damaging CH OD combo, like Tsubaki (yeah, her again :P)

I mean, who would like to lose match because they blockstringed 5B 5C and ate a non-burstable 8000 damage combo out of it.

Have they said whether CP 2.0 is a separate disc or just another update?  Also, are we getting it the same time as Japan, or are we gonna have to wait for...another few months...

From what Mori said in an interview, he has no plans so far for console release. Even he doesn't know what he wants to do.

I'm hoping that it is just an update. I really thought we would be through with Extend-type releases now that BB is Playstation only. It doesn't matter how much content is being included in 2.0. I'm just thinking business-wise here because they will not only sell barely any copies of 2.0, they will also kill the game's community and following for at least until the next iteration comes out which means less potential profits. But I guess that is a little bit untrue because the arcades still exist. They would just murder any potential profits made from the people who already own CP for consoles.

It just does not make any sense to release an entirely new game because there will be lasting negative effects and Arc should know that.

I hate to sound like I'm complaining, but GCOD seems a bit X-factorish to me, even if it is a watered down version.  I hope they tone it down so that it's fair, because I enjoy earning my comebacks, as opposed to just exploding out of a safe string into 75% of someone's life.

You're reading too much into PR talk. Mori probably has the full details on how they'll be handling the console release and even when they plan to release it but you probably won't hear about it until people give him the OK to talk about it.

Oh, this takes me back. It feels like just yesterday that people were complaning OD itself was X-Factor

The principle might be the same, but the fact GCOD is 19f and not 0f makes its usage and utility completely different.

I'm not sure if you can say completely different because BB is a much slower game compare to others. in this case that 19 frames is more than enough when you factor in the total frames for startup + active frames + recovery frames. So any B or C normal or special falls into this category. Most recovery frames are fairly large depending on the move but often large lol. Well anyway, I'm just wondering if throws would be counted as counter throw instead, meaning can not be tech since throw combo in BB are often good source of damage for a short start up of 7 frames which otherwise would had been a 5a or a fast DD.

There will definitely be an GCOD tier list. Who gets the most damage or benefit great enough to support its use in dire situations, who can safely and consistently escape, who can do both, the rest.

Whoever had the best over drives before are likely to be high on this list. New distortions are bound to shake things up a bit though. Here's to giving more characters free mixup opportunities.

Anyway, hakumen is going to love what he is getting.

Dude, nothing can beat 0f guard cancel bullshit. Even if the game is slower, 19f is huge.

Not sure what to think of GCOD, I guess time will tell

What 0f? Counterassaults/guardcancels have a startup, usually 13f

I will say though, the fact that they were aimig for faster gameplay with CP, then proceed to add in things like ODR, seems very counter productive. Now everyone's gonna be afraid to start an offense in fear of eating 7k houtenjin combos. Why is BB trying to be other games man? WHY CAN'T BB JUST STAY BB?!

/end dramatic overreaction.

I'm going to really contest that

19 frames during a guard cancel is not much considering that recovery frames and start up are often longer than 19 in total.

0 frames or 1 frame akys terms sounds impressive but you have option, X factor back, resetting the gains, super cancel into dhc. Must people will just X factor back if they have it and reset he neutral game.

In bb if you whiff during their gc OD you can't counter back even if you wanted too, it is a directly punish and you can't do anything except not press b and c in the first place. During whiff you can't rc, use OD, jump or block ectera hence this is why I'm saying its a different game because xfactor only punishes thing when your opponent doesn't have resources. In marvel you can cancel all whiff into super and ectera.

Edit

It's apples vs oranges

Meaning not comparable even if xfactor is superiorly broken it doesn't have the same impact in blazblue such as a perfect punish in most case.

Edit

Just wondering where that 19 figure came from. I mean normal overdrive is 1+15 frames of start up, just wondering

Was talking about X-factor from UMVC3

Not for nothing, as this is not a marvel discussion, but XFGC has a dead frame after where you can be thrown or counter x factored. XFGC is relatively easy to punish on reaction actually, which is why you see it less and less in competetive play.

As for BB, the expansion and additions are great, but the enormous discord between arcade and console releases and all the new versions make it really difficult to get into as a player. Arcsys' recent handling of p4u and Xrd made me think they were making headway on that front, but I guess it was wishful thinking.

I really want to love BB and I want our local community to be able to justify investing time into the game. I wish they wouldn't make it so difficult to do that.

Also more Celica info please.

So if I'm getting this right GCOD will be able to punish anything with any move with "Total Frames" that=19+start up of punish move right?

I wrote some observations about Celica (and Lambda) based on the TGS demonstration videos here in the old contaminated thread if you didn't already see them.

What's the word on :MK: ?

Because there's so much "word" on everyone else?  This is like the "Make up wild speculation" thread right now. :P

There is absolutely no word on anything about anything. One week before release and we still don't have a word from ArcSys on the finalized changes. This is so annoying, I wish they were better at public relations.

The latest info is from the loketest from august, and I would be surprised if nothing has changed since then

I don't see why they would release a ton of info. Nothing sells the arcade side of this more than full-blown curiosity. This way there's no people refusing to go play because they don't like the changes to their character or anything. They'll have to go and find out for themselves. This goes for the people who are thinking of picking up the game again after seeing the trailer/advertisements/announcements. Hope makes money. We'll have feedback long before we need it. Just give it another week.
