  1. Good games to Surfeit. It started close after a few matches but then got lopsided after I didn't make the right adjustments. I know what mistakes I made so now I can think of ways to break those habits and conceal some things. I feel like my Robo Ky was better than a lot of recent matches. i have trouble often against Ky players. I'm glad you got to play your first Robo Ky.
  2. Wow, I didn't even think about varying the delayed wakeup. Thanks. I meant that i struggle to do 2k, 2s 5FRCs> air combo. My followup after 1 HS FRC doesn't work out consistently. I find 2s 5HS frc dash 5HS frc jk js j.c etc. much easier. That second part was an edit a day later. I have noticed that f.s. spacing to scare people away on a mat has been working well for me along with the occasional use of 2HS to scare away jump ins. I'm also seeing the potential of j.s counter-hit which causes the ground bounce and sets up an easy combo followup. I recall seing Dogura doing a SRK into an air combo without FRC in +R. (SRK dash c.s launch) I wonder if that's a level 2 thing only or is it plus R only. Overall, I relied on air missiles too much, played too defensive at the start, played too conservative, didn't realize that lv 1 missiles for oki are bad, and I need to learn to tk missile consistently if I want to abuse them. The J.S. animation naturally had be delaying using it until air descent but I see it comes down fine while rising. (Yes, I was doing 5S j.c delayed JS occasionally. >_>) It's very funny that playing the game on PSP which makes me rely on other input tools helped me figure out a different feel and approach. Thank you for the 5p info because i'm still trying to learn how to use it. It doesn't feel like a normal 5p or a BB 5A. How do you feel about the occasional air to air missile on jump ins? That seems to be either feast or famine.
  3. I'll like to try to play your Slayer one day with my Robo Ky.
  4. I have that problem with the j.D Robo Ky dust combo. Offline it works fine. Sometimes online he'll just j.c out of the J.D immediately.
  5. Thanks that helps a little. I'm moderately accustomed to fighting games i assume. I've been playing them purposefully since BBCT came out but I do have issues with consistency and execution. I know in Blazblue, I can hang around with some high level players and beat some solid players. But guilty gear is a huge adjustment and I still feel like I'm missing something basic. Overall, if you're good, I'm pretty free but I may when a round here and there. Not knowing what to do against Uri-Woz's dolphin spam troll tactics was a little discouraging. I managed to win that match but the first round was eww. Actually I meant to ask, what does it mean if you are a player that is close in a lot of matches, but have a 28% win percentage like me. I've seen my self lose in the 3rd round of like 10 straight matches. That sounds like a chronic play-style or approach issue. How long does it take to get a simple 5hs frc combo down? It's been 4-5 days maybe. Sigh. Ok, I can 5HS frc dash 5HS frc jk js j.c. etc. fine. smh
  6. I don't want to double post but i guess it's been a while. I see I've been failing frc combos because I am dashing too long after I 5HS frc. But my real questions are: What's the best poke to get out of pressure? 5k or 5P. What should I priotize more? Okie or meter gain? Should I just be chillin' early on too build meter in the beginning of the round? Is 236236P useful as a normal strategy because I haven't seem much of it in Robo Ky vids. ^^Everything in my previous post. Any ideas about the basic thought process in neutral? Sometimes I think I'm thinking about basic strings, or the frc, or combos so much that I'm slowing down my analysis in neutral. I know I shouldn't be actively thinking about those basics. I can't get away with my Litchi improvisation in this game.
  7. ggs to Uri-Woz. I was a tad embarrassed with that May dolphin spam match. Axl is a character I have trouble dealing with. The I-no matches were fun but you adjusted after a few matches and I didn't at all. I also failed to hit confirm any 5HS frc combos. I still have a lot of work to put into neutral, pressure, and everything else.
  8. Yeah that's all true. You do get a Roman Cancel if you mess up with Robo, unless I'm just that bad. Maybe R.C. meant something else. I find the 5HS frc pretty easy alone. I enjoy playing robo more than A.B.A I suppose. 2HS is different though. Good games to those I played today. I lose a lot but I have a lot of close matches. I have no idea what that means. Perhaps I'm not solid enough at all or gimmicky. I do think Baiken is clearly harder than Robo though.
  9. I must be pretty bad if Robo Ky is considered that easy. I struggle with those 5HS frc combos and I don't get many opportunities to do them in matches. His strings aren't too difficult I guess.
  10. ggs contra_x and his robo ky and the others I played tonight. I got bodied pretty bad tonight. I must be obsessive because I practiced Robo Ky's 5HS frcs all day today and I forget every single pressure string. In fact, I didn't do 5k 5S 2P etc at all tonight. I don't even think I did a C.S F.S 2D. Yes I got some 2k throws but man. What am I doing. And will I ever be able to hit confirm the 5HS frc in a match. I think I am seeing I'm so merandom type of player. In fact, I seriously have no idea how I ever win matches. I'm not really playing solid, but just scrambling well at times-- but not really good reads. It's like I'm playing in desperation comeback mode but all the time and I'm just surviving because I can somewhat do that. I'm gonna try to learn more and balance out my fundamentals. I understand Robo Ky requires great blocking and getting out of pressure requires patience. I mash too much and block too little. In other news, I'm getting my applications done, composing mad music and getting ready to send this stuff to some collegiate and publisher competitions. Program Note writing sucks though. $25,000+ in competitions up for grabs. Highly unlikely if I'll see any of that but hey, opportunity is there and I have a shot.
  11. That's when I have the most fun-- when the opponent is a little better or just a better matchup at the time, but you know you still can win. I'd play for hours in that condition.
  12. Ok Thanks. That gives me some temporary options to work on until I get the 5H frc dash jump down. Yay! Finally did a few double frc combos. Hmm, now I'm struggling again in combos. independently, I can do it consistently. I wonder if I'm getting used to the input and doing it too fast. Does anyone have any neutral tips for Robo Ky or is it just block block block? The real trouble I have is getting out of pressure especially against very rushdown oriented characters like HOS, Ky and a few others. I also have no idea what to do against Potemkin.
  13. I'm following Dr. Stormlocke's guide to learning Robo Ky. Right now, I'm starting to practice the 5HS frc starter from 2k 2s but mostly 2s right now. The best i've got so far as a combo is 2s 5HS frc dash 5k 5k j.c. Jk JS Jk JS JHS or something like that. Surely that isn't some universal combo? I am trying to get down the 2k 2s 5HS frc 66 Jk JS j.c Jk JD. I'm really horrible at execution but I'm going to try to diligently put in some daily frc practice everyday, even if it takes a few months. The 5HS frc timing is very strict. I can't get the dash to JK quick enough. Is 5H frc. dash 5H frc more reliable?
  14. Yeah....I just need to learn Robo's 5H frc combos first. I can only do it like 25-50% and that's not even in combos. I suppose a few days of 2k 2s 5H frc 66 etc. should do something positive.
  15. Trust me. i went 2-16 against Dreikoo even though I felt maybe 8-10 matches were close. King_Free also bodied me am beat me winning like 15 straight. I force myself to play until they quit knowing it's the only way to improve. Heck, I even went like 2-15 against dxmds. i have my small winning streaks too. I guess you either can keep practicing, learning the game, playing or just stop. If you aren't enjoying it, or the challenge of the struggle, then maybe you should find other things to spend your time on. Fighting games are a huge time investment. You should enjoy it. I'm not better than you I don't think. At least, I'm in the same skill level. You're Litchi is much more versatile and deals more damage then mine. Making figure out why you are playing the game. I'm a composer in life transitioning between undergraduate school and grad school while trying to figure out career options. I play because I find the game fun and I like the elements of fighting games. I don't practice well enough because I'm putting a lot of times in scores and other things. But I do play because I really want to.
  16. Star you need to relax. Btw, good games today. I think Baiken is an easier matchup for Robo Ky compared to a lot of rushdown characters. I think you need to be more agressive with Baiken so I can't setup things that I want to do. I felt they were pretty close matches and will be for a while. I have trouble playing against Ky, HOS, Anji and aggressive characters. I can't get anything going.
  17. Oops Delete. Double Post....
  18. GGs King_Free, dxmds and whoever I played earlier. Robo Ky is causing growing pains. I'm still learning these characters. I am very weak against Potemkin. Wow, I need to play against a good Robo. I have no idea what I should be doing.
  19. idk.....I have a TE stick. But I play a with 3 buttons on the top (k, S, HS) and two on the bottom left (P, Dust). I generally keep my fingers on the man four buttons and move my thumb over when I need to dust. I generally just 3 button for frc. If I wanna frc HS, I press P, K, S. If I wanna frc S, I FRC P, K, HS. K S HS P D --
  20. Yeah, I messaged star because I thought he stopped due to the lag.
  21. I see. Smart way to stream.
  22. PSN: SaxPlayaTJ Location: Virginia Main: Robo Ky, A.B.A.
  23. Fun games Star-demon while it lasted. I guarantee I had nothing downloading on my internet.
  24. Oh wow. Explains why I never got dash meter or many 2H knockdowns. I probably should play you more then. Yeah three knockdowns or so on A.B.A means I'm dead or instant killed by some characters.
  25. At least some of the matches seemed closer than the margin of victory. I felt like was in there for about 10. Others i was steamrolled with pressure. I have that weird problem of learning the basics of the game on the psp and then moving on to a stick. it's so much different playing on a fight stick. My psp jam is better. I haven't practiced A.B.A. in weeks and I see she's regressing because I'm starting to drop rekkas, miss her frc and my mixup has gotten much worse. I still need to really learn Robo Ky. I struggle pressuring with him and getting space to lay down his mat, hit confirm knockdown (2HS) or go into 5HS frc off of 2k (slide kick thing). Robo Ky still feels strange offensively. Regarding the mentality thing. I know based on Sirlin's analysis of player types, I am "The Obsessed." I tend to focus on minimalistic tactics and completely forget what my options are at times. i tend to want to do something, especially when learning a character and completely force things in situations that I shouldn't. For instance, I know I can win off robo's shoryuken super but I commit too much into it rather than making the read. My tactics tend to change between matches but i struggle to put it all together. Occasionally it truly comes together and I see the potential. My litchi and Tsubaki is a little better with tactical consistency. I'm not as good with Tsubaki, but I find her more fun and find that my neutral game is a little more solid with her if I stick to her for a few weeks. (If not she's quite sporadic.) Playing good people helps, even if that beat up on you. I think it's best when you play someone slightly better than you. I feel you'll see your improvement and have the drive as well as realistic means to overtake them.
