  1. GGs to Errol. Your 18 wins to one fraudulent victory from me. I had "try hard, mental fatigue" after the first 8 or so. Thanks for showing me how I shouldn't play Tsubaki. i definitely need to work on the neutral and defense game. I try to escape rather than punish way too much, though I was clueless how to.
  2. I wish for lolz, the game had a 2D-Tekken Force style shadow beat-em-up mode using the same mechanics. But I'm random like that. I'm hyped for this game. Ken and Koro have my interest. Anyone know if they'll have an online lobby like BB?
  3. 2 Bullets using drive (not sure what that looks like), Tagers magnetized invincible forward back dashes with 720s, Arakune curse or lose battles, Inferno Divider clashes, Hazama phallic, poking troll matches, Tsubaki (me) odd charge stare downs as in do it too or rush confusion, Azrael double come at me bro etc, Bang Mirrors suddenly have P4U amounts of dialogue-- self navigating. New pet-peeve: Colored squares in a specific situation: I was playing a light blue in the online lobby and of course they're like you're strong. I tell them I've been getting bodied all day; I suck. They seemed to be having fun and so to be encouraging without trolling/autopilot, I decide to play every character I don't use at all because I can still win. Too bad when my day 0 Amane loses a few (the second badly) I'm like, ugh, I can't use him anymore. That's when I want to play Carl too.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, it's the de-syncing issues, people hitting home buttons after their matches, and those type of things. Those things are pretty tournament disrupting behaviors. I think it's something that was too much of a hassle to police.
  5. I fought 3 in the last 4 days so I was like O_o. I've been playing CP only about a month but only have had maybe 2 sets with Carls before. He can air to air all day long.
  6. What is the verdict on this matchup? I'm no good player but I've been having problems against Carl, especially in neutral. Is there something Tsubaki should be doing to give him trouble? I did get some usage out of j.214a and 241A to stop his approaches. 241D 236D works well to blow through his orb or maybe a Nirvana startup move. I'm not sure if it's actually a go to thing. Delayed wakeups seem to help deal with his setups. I'm not sure what Tsubaki should do to try to establish control. He seems to get in or play keep-away pretty well.
  7. GGs to KwRiot and seeing more Carls to play against. I can't believe I played 6 matches and didn't do a command grab once. I gotta make a daily regiment. Interesting that I'm just over a month in CP and I've played 3 carls in consecutive days. I don't recall playing more than 2 the entire month before. I definitely need to study the matchup. As such a habitual player, I really need to consciously put daily time into brain pounding my options. I told myself i would try 3c more in neutral and I didn't use it once haha :P.
  8. Really random: In regards to purple grabs, I randomly re-watched Spark knock out Tokido in BBCS2 Evo 2012 Losers Finals with a purple grab (no TRM). My new pet-peeve is watching myself do really stupid stuff in replays and seeing that matches weren't as one-sided as I thought. I have no idea why I've been using dash 2a with Tsubaki to reset instead of dash 5a/5b. I suppose other character habits from various games. I also hate when you randomly develop some stupid habit, like me missing 2c after a 3c RC, and suddenly I can't remember/feel the timing the rest of the day. And still trying to do CS tsubaki inputs: Randomly doing a 22c combo ender or 214C in combos.
  9. My one concern in this matchup is what to do when the other Tsubaki player backs off and starts charging. Do I charge too (and we both awkwardly have 3-5 stocks), or do I go in and put pressure on them. I tend to do more of the latter.
  10. ggs to everyone I played today. I'm finally one month in CP. I ran into a Carl with the tech going. Shudder. I still have only played another Tsubaki in 2 matches.
  11. Maybe a specific question: How do you factor in pace and rhythm when you're playing neutral? Do you consciously think about it? Do you vary it? What are you varying?
  12. Ah, someone said I hate Izayoi and denied my Tsubaki avatar. Lol, I hate being denied when the connection is 2 or above. I played a blue square about 15 matches today. My pet-peeve is that I'm not "killer" enough to play my main the entire time against someone new or still learning bnbs. I started playing carl..... (I don't play Carl) Drives me nuts when that person is stealth sniping your match to steal in the lobby after you lose-- adding that you have that nice 3 connection and they're like a 0 with you.
  13. I've been looking through the matchup discussions as well as the strategy guides regarding neutral game-plans. I play Tsubaki not because I'm naturally compatible with her, but because I think she's really fun strategically to use and will allow me to grow as a fighting game player. She's simple enough but nothing comes too easy. It may because I'm a former Litchi main (I abused all of those wall-bounce counter-hits), but using Tsubaki in neutral terrifies me. If I'm playing against a Ragna, Jin, or a few other characters, I feel like I'm getting bullied in neutral. Ragna's 5B and 5C from the beginning is stifling. Punishing the max spacing he uses can also be tricky. I am working on purging those 5BB habits with 5B pokes which has been successful. I've been formulating options off of IAD j.C such as IAD j.C (delayed C), IAD j.C grab (I see Konan do this which must be due to the delay C fear). Along with this, basic movement options. I see rising j.B j.CC works on some characters too. I also have been wondering about baiting whiffs with things like 2a/5a 22B (D). (Gimmicky?). I'm aware that j.214a orb works well against Ragna and I got it going last night. I've had success with D orb 236D but less against better players or Kagura. I am just don't have the gameplan down with Tsubaki against some of the heavy hitters: Ragna, Azrael, Kagura, Terumi, a good Tager or Mu. Interestingly, I feel better against quicker, fast characters that can't beat me with range.
  14. Yeah, I started late April and I'm a green square. I won 18 straight matches the other day against players that are possibly getting accustomed to characters or with modest experience (white) and was happy to see that they kept going at it for a while. I also lost 17 straight matches to someone clearly better than me and I was happy that they kept letting me go at it (I was winning rounds). I really enjoyed in CS days playing Wozscreamer (Uri Woz), Vice Taicho (taught me Litchi in CT), and others who are much better. I am happy to see how much many have improved over the years from modest to pretty competitive over the years-- even if I feel a bit behind relatively. I've always wondered what type of ranking system would people like to see. I haven't heard anyone mention a ranking system that they really like. Some prefer a rapidly sliding system while others prefer more minute, grinding changes. I do think ranks provide a general sense of skill. I haven't found pink players that are absolutely atrocious in the game. I think the main problems are that 1) Ranks generally undermine the skills of players when they first start and 2) they represent players more so in their early ability more than present ability. I know generally from CT, I was probably about 10% online my first 100-150 days (I was atrocious with Ragna) but after moving to Litchi, I was probably 50+ far afterward. I used to get annoyed when players saw that slow growing% and decide, not worth my time. I personally have the philosophy that if the connection is good, I'm down to play anyone be it me getting stomped, or stomping on them. I think playing is most fun when the opponent is slightly better anyway. I think the greatest aspect of the fighting community is a communal sense of educating one another, trading ideas, and everyone helping each other grow/improve. It's not something you see everyday, but it's quite similar to my early professional career as a composer. It's a fraternity of knowledge and everyone is happy to share something, critique, give advice-- something definitely to embrace. I wish many people on the outside saw that.
  15. Haha, I honestly don't know what I'm doing. I main Tsubaki and bs CS/CP hybrid Litchi (haven't delved into CP Litchi) at times. I do something like, run around like a chicken with no head and try not to get hit in neutral, and then go ham (super aggressive) after a knockdown. I guess with Tsubaki I just try to stay really close or on the opposite side of the screen. I'm either hiding my goodies or or trying to take them like a rapid dog..... I put neutral. I'm The Obsessed. >_>
  16. Good games to whomever I played online. i wish I could blame losses on horrible pain-- I'm stubborn about not doing stuff. I'm not proud of my 18 win streak against players that are probably new or my 17 game losing streak to Safety_Patrol XD. Good games everyone. :P Gotta step up out of this mediocrity, especially with Tsubaki. I body people in Words with Friends. I don't want that to be the game of choice hahaha.
  17. About the pressure thing, it seems comfort is my enemy. Fresh out of the practice room I was doing better, but a few hours in the online lobby, I started going on auto-pilot and I'm not sure what I was thinking about the last few matches-- probably much more on neutral. It will be a process. i should say that I did sub Tsubaki from CS2 onward. My pickup Litchi still seems at least even or more consistent. I hate the Tsubaki vs Ragna matchup. I let myself get pushed back to easy. I wonder if anyone has ever compiled percentages of what options top players use? I would find that interesting. DP % Strings% etc.
  18. I think categorizing the pressure generally by your opponent's habits may make it easier. Perhaps anti-mash delay/staggers, anti-DP, anti-backdash/jump-out, patient blockers to just go in. Chzchan, I definitely don't frame trap enough. I'll try that and still grind out all my options. I want to have a mental flashcard type of approach where I can just do everything on the fly in any order without hesitation. The tricky thing about listing is, it's hard to just seamlessly go trough strings in rapid-fire fashion. I'll try to get to that point. Thanks for all of the responses.
  19. Thanks for the responses. Perhaps I just need to grind them out about a week. i may require a lot more practice than most regarding those things. I do see I need to dash 5a a whole lot more rather than dash 5B. But yes, I do use the dummy on "block everything" (random barrier blocking makes things interesting). I wish there was an online training mode. It would be nice to have two players just to take turns using strings on each other. I may have really bad carpal tunnel or some other neurological problem too, smh.
  20. (Let me know if this should be in the improvement/critique section). I'll preface by saying I've been playing CP only since the end of April so I'm really late to the party. I have a fundamental question about developing pressure and managing options seamlessly. I've been playing BB since CT which was my first invested fighting game. Since, I've played all iterations of BB pretty thoroughly (mostly with Litchi, though I'm playing more Tsubaki now), P4U (Labrys) quite a bit, SF4 series, and Guilty Gear (Robo-Ky). I feel most comfortable with my Labrys, then Robo-Ky and then earlier Litchi versions coming next. Keep in mind I also have systematic concepts for oki with those characters too. I've never been particularly good, though I can kind of hang a bit sometimes. I fit Sirlin's description of "The obsessed" pretty textbook. Feels like jazz improv: In a match, I seem to forget my options and tend to base my pressure on just a few variations rather than a full palette. With Tsubaki, I often forget the command grab in initial strings except after corner knockdowns, 5a pressure, 6a overheads in initial strings, frame traps, and end up using 5C (D) dash resets, 5C 6B reset to 5B, 5C 6B 22B, 5C 6BB 22B. The Robo Ky guide narrowed all options down to about 7, all of them covering each other which helped me a bit. I tried writing all of Tsubaki's pressure strings so I could cycle through them seamlessly. I initially had over 20, categorized in a chart by 2, 3, 4, and 5 moves. Later I decided to narrow down to about 8 focusing around 5BB. I don't go through them effortlessly in matches. I tend to get very 5BB 5C .... pretty early and then when I get some offensive flow, I start mixing 2B, overheads, command grabs, etc. I guess I say initial pressure, because after neutral, I tend to do the same few things when I get my opponents blocking. You won't see me do something like 5B (5D) dash 5B 2B 5C (5D) dash 5A micro-dash 5A micro-dash 5A 63214C without working into it. What generally happens is opponents would start disrespecting me in initial pressure (good players). When I break one habit or explore a new option, I just put myself into another habit rather then using the entire bag of tricks. ie: thinking more overheads locks me into the 5B 6A, 5BB 6A, 5BB 2B 6A box. I wanted to kill the habit of jump counseling 5C on block so I hardly do it at all now. I wouldn't want to predetermine strings while in neutral and mess up hit confirms, though I've never tried that option. With Labrys, you can literally think after 5A or 5A 5B since her options are short and slower. Does anyone have ideas about how they approach pressure and develop it within the training room? How to transfer that into match situations where you can change options on the fly? Perhaps this is a general question about being aware of your options in any stage, since presence of mind is an important thing.
  21. Just finished the stream via youtube. Thanks Kurushii. The Aila avatar makes me chuckle. Akira's Potemkin was fun to watch. Watching Yanki's Sol was hilarious. Sometimes I wish I had that mentality when playing high level people. I can imagine netplay Sol already .
  22. Is it me, or does anyone else hear quasi-Dynasty Warriors music in a track or two bahaha :P?. jp. I am very hyped for the game. I can't wait to see tons of vids the next few days.
  23. Thanks for the videos. I am excited for the game. Will Dogura play Slayer? I was surprised to see him really going at it with Azrael. The announcement that Xrd was going live this month was like an early Valentine's Day birthday gift. Like those above, I hope this new game creates a resurgence in Guilty Gear hype, especially as someone who's only been playing the series 4-5 years. I'm gonna miss those XX Millia hips haha. I'm curious if anyone is using those alternate button layouts? I was surprised that there was no layout similar to the original, but with the Dust button one to the left. My curent layout: K S HS P D
  24. GGs to Raiko-Sama, the Shadow Labrys playing in the room and the Yosuke/Yu/Vanilla Mitsuru player that was also pwning ever. I was reminded how much improvement I still need. Even more so from Raiko-Sama who reminded me how much neutral work I need still.
  25. GGs to whomever I played today. That Liz was pretty scary. "Don't be afraid or you'll take more damage" Haha. I have no Liz experience with my Labrys. It was nice playing two solid Akihiko's and that 800 psr Yosuke.
