[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
TeeJay replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
I hope i didn't have anything to do without it. I was being philosophical. We saw the evolution of the XX series regarding mechanics. What do you see in the future for Xrd regarding YRCs, PRCs and other mechanics. Where can they go next? I am too inexperienced to know. Remember when BB didn't have air unblockables or bursting put you in danger state? :P What are people looking forward to in Xrd? I'm looking forward into maybe trying Venom and I-no since they are a bit easier to use. On a secret side, I'm curious about story mode cutscenes.....if the E3 opening is any indication. I can only imagine how awesome an overheating Robo-Ky could be in that engine-- or his copter. -
Is the knockdown time the different or does the latter leave you in the air longer? Does the latter leave you further away if you want to oki? I think you can do 623C>214A a bit closer to the ground. After testing, I'm not sure. It does seem you can 214A quick enough in the former version to get to the ground a little quicker.

Haha, I think some of us are having trouble containing the hype. This may sound silly, but how is the maniac CPU? One thing about guilty gear was that I didn't mind playing arcade mode, m.o.m or survivor mode. CPU KI combos would get me mad hype. I felt like I could still try mixups without getting auto-jabbed every time. Also, the CPU would sometimes block intensely for a while. I've never been sure if it was a placebo or a much different algorithm. I spent too much time playing arcade modes. Regarding the interview. It's clear that they wanted to boost the visuals and other things to get outsiders to find the game initially interesting. GG wants to stick out visually. In fact, I suppose SF4+, MvC, MK etc. all have distinct visual aspects that make them seem fresh to most. Even P4U has a really clean look to it-- next thing I know, I'm playing Persona 3 and 4. I recall seeing Alex Valle and Xian playing P4U (Akihiko and Yukiko). It would be really cool to see other players making leaps to Xrd. haha, Sandford Kelly and Arturo Sanchez playing BB. I think that's pretty positive. -
Can't tell if I had a connection lost at the point of victory or was rage-quitted on in the lobby. Shoutouts to CS Litchi in CP I suppose. I hope people aren't rage-quitting in online lobbies due to colored squares. I'll give it the benefit of doubt though. I was enjoying the matches even though I was losing most of them. Online ambiguous connections-- perhaps a disconnect. Earlier: lag so bad you can't do minute 1 Tsubaki bnbs or play neutral.

lol, start spamming Diago Sol vids to all the Street Fighter heads, jk. Though it would be nice to see "casual mass appeal" notable players picking up the game. SF seems to be gaining some International momentum but the air dashers seem much more separate. Didn't we have a US qualifier for SBO or Arc Revo? Dacibro almost made a OCV comeback? -
Yeah, there is a picture in one of the screenshots that gives an explanation of one of them.

Watching the gamestop interview on youtube: Will we be getting 3d-real-time-in-game engine story cutscenes? Haha, I hate to beat a dead horse, but the interview is cringe worthy to vets I'm sure. As a new player, maybe not. It was interesting that early on, people were afraid that these games were going to step onto each other's shoes, and now with have P4U in the mix. I'm thankful that BB introduced me to GG which I first started playing on PSP. Regarding marketing, I thought those CT video guides were a big deal. Now, we have the challenge mode and tutorials, but I remember watching those vids on youtube and the depth opened my head up-- CT Taokaka and Litchi combos. In fact, seeing the game made me interested. People imported Demon's Souls which was JP/Asia only years ago-- it had full English. Word of mouth and good reviews created hype which eventually had the game published by Atlus in NA. Player hype can be a big deal. People just need to know concrete reasons why the game worth playing. Interestingly, people on IGN are raving that MK is their favorite fighting game series due to fatalities, mature nature, character designs, and story. Note that raw gameplay is the first thing considered to most. The fighting game community is growing but is pretty split into multiple niches. Let's hope Guilty Gear has a little more aesthetic and mass appeal than BB. -
I wonder how the 3 character variations will affect balance and gameplay. They seem more than just a different ultra. Robo-Ky, Ex Robo-Ky?.

Atlus is definitely pushing P4U2 a lot. I'm seeing it featured on IGN and info about it in other places even if sometimes late or ill-informed. The thing that puzzles me is it seems no one is aware (besides avid players) that these games are already being played in arcades overseas. There did seem to be some interest about GG from people who played it back in the days a bit but had no idea there was a new iteration. -
GGs Dxmds. Good ground to air hit confirms with Valk. Your Ragna and Jin are still pretty sound. You could have DP'ed a bit more and use those Jin crossups. I may need to learn another character other than Tsubaki or reevaluate my training process. Way too inconsistent and predictable (without yolo).

Ken was AI on hardest difficulty. I guess theoretically, Koro still could be usable or unusable.

I think half the people I come across are about 0. I usually seek 2s or the rare but not uncommon 3. Some 0s are silky but I don't get why. I've been asking 1 connections for permission if they've been sitting a while. But yeah, my connections suck.

ggs to VSlackerV. That was my first true CP Litchi experience. GG Tectaleastside. It was good experience playing a slower pace against your Hakumen. I just can't get my sticks to think like my head.
-
Yeah, online I've been like 6A 5CC 6BBBB (because sometimes it seems not to come out and I get sad). 6CC is also becoming a habit in combos when it's not delayed due to net fear. I may spend a week offline. I kind've wanna learn Azrael or Haku perhaps to kill myself of that (a reason why SF gives me problems). Ragna (I've mashed the heck out of Inferno Divider). I don't think I do it much with ABA or Robo-Ky. That mess comes in handy with Robo-Ky's super S x 1000. Most people I see slam hard on their sticks, and I'm an active composer and piano player (so my digits have to be taken care of, plus we don't hit regularly that hard). I'm also having some neurological problems with my hands which are painful, but I'm too stubborn to not play a bit.
-
This is what I do. Sometimes I get into trouble with playing newcomers. I'll start playing random characters (like Amane without knowing his buttons), CT Ragna combos, 5-hit Jin combos etc. and influencing bad habits instead of being fundamentally sound and bodying them. I'm also that guy that you will see down 18 wins and thinking, I bet they are wondering when I'm gonna quit. Real talk, while I can get frustrated, I don't mind losing a lot if I can adjust. It's the players who are like, moving on, you aren't worth my time that get me really salty-- especially after 2 matches since I can have atrocious starts. I don't know if 700+ total matches is still a little or not on my D-card. I don't have the benefit oh, he has like 40 anymore.

(I'm sure it's public knowledge). Wow, my mind is blown on how late I am realizing this: I've been subconsciously holding 3C which makes the followup input come out automatically (I have horrible input ineptitude). The distance is also hugely shorter than when you tap 3C. The entire time, I've been like, what the heck happened to it's range from CS and how is this neutral viable sparingly? Any reason to use the shorter one? Speaking of silly inputting, I have the horrible habit of multi-tapping buttons in certain situations (or in general). Hakumen and Azrael can be pretty tricky to me, especially in match situations. For instance, I kind've mash 2CC a bit in combos which isn't a problem until some 22D 5C 2CC corner combos. You'd think as a pianist, hornist and saxophonist, hitting buttons on a stick would make things natural, but..... I actually would be a lot more comfortable with a weighted stick (weighted piano keys can be a big deal). Working on adding some deliberate habits to everything I do (neutral especially).

I played you early morning. Good games.

Does Xrd have the same Dan system? I haven't seen any 19 dans or anything like that if I recall correctly. Well, they seem a bit lower overall. -

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

I play Robo Ky and a little A.B.A (before +R). Right now I may be looking into Ky, Venom or maybe even Sin if announced. Part of me wants to go extreme and learn Pot since I've never played a grappler. Does anyone think there will be a patch before console release or will they let things go for a while being the first of a new series? What is the overall consensus on Xrd balance anyway (Solid?)? -
I approach the matchup either playing fullscreen where you can charge or try to stay in. Trying to 2c his chain approaches are tricky to react to (easy low levels though but EMP Blazgreen didn't allow it). Sometimes, I'll just 2c first chance to make them know what's up. I think if you can get fullscreen you might make him have to overextend himself to make things happen. Konan will 214A/D from fullscreen sometimes and run straight in. He'll also just back IAD to get far away if halfscreen or more. A good Hazama player will chain anti-air you in predictable jump in situations. If you can get a knockdown, you have the advantage suddenly. I honestly don't know what you do besides, make him chain low and take the air or chain high and run up to his face-- make him guess wrong. If he's patient, hang back and charge it up. I think the matchup is extreme patience, knockdown, go ham (wild).
-
Either CT or CS Litchi. Maybe Tsubaki as a sub. Noted. To be honest, I didn't even think I should be trying to get out. Robo Ky super jump iad is a duh.
-
Yeah, I was thinking about Lord Knight saying she's the most honest character.

I had to adjust to some things from Rachel players-- hadn't fought one yet that beat me consistently. Some of that was a lack of Rachel situational experience which I hope I adapted to. I don't recall the super counter after match 3 or 4. I need to figure out what those bats do. I was sad that i missed the counter-hit wall-bounce 22b. I failed to recognize free combos but I'll look to use it less. I've been using it as a bad crutch to cover my reset predictability. I honestly have no idea why I was using IAD JCC so far before IAD block to cover distance. I don't know if it was subconsciously panic-preemptive or subconscious Tager JC distance covering. Both are quite bad. What I want to do on block is either JC, JC (delay) C (didn't do it once), or JC grab. I'm starting to wonder if I'm more of a know-the-theory fighter rather than a in-practice player. I don't apply what I do know well at all. Thanks for the feedback
-
Ok Errol, ggs. I might have done better against that Tsubaki perhaps, but that Rachel was killin' me. Specifically, what parts of my play are yolo or need to be "less yolo?" I think I played too much air game but playing controlled completely killed my aggression and made me play very passively. I have way more questions than answers because I really was lost had no mental adjustments to apply. I have no idea why I keep forgetting the command grab in pressure. I played over 10 matches without using it? That fraudulent first match haha. ggs again.
