Are CPU grapplers ridiculously cheap, or do I need work?
TeeJay replied to Mugen Tux's topic in Beginner Mode
I enjoy playing GG on Maniac a lot more than i do BB on Hell. I can tolerate losing against Potemkin with my Robo-Ky or the Robo-Ky vs. jin matchup. GG opponents tend to randomly go into ultra defensive mode. i haven't figured that out but I feel like I can play around more with my strings and sometimes, do some extended pressure things. -
Sometimes I'm in ranked matches and I'll repeatedly get a new player or someone below average who is no match for my main. I'll try to be nice and switch to my Tsubaki or Hakumen to make things a bit more even/interesting for them. As soon as I do that sometimes, I get some 800+ psr guy or some distinguished player and am stuck with my tertiary character. Then I want to prove myself so badly afterward.

It's pretty much how I learn the game. I was a horrendous CT player by the way. I think it took me 6 months after starting online to really learn the game. I realize that I probably pickup slower because i have to learn what to do and not to do by experience. I can't just put things like oki and mixup to a formula and just do it.

Sorry to anyone who has to suffer with my Labrys. :P My Labrys is worst than any of my subs in any other game. My Robo Ky would crap on my Labrys. I have no figured out P4U. I'm gonna have to make neutral, pressure, mixup flash cards or something.

Please. I also play A.B.A. so it would kinda suck to not have them. -

I get what you're saying but college does not mean success and not going to college doesn't mean failure or mediocrity. Playing fighting games for depth is a personal decision whoever some people innately have no idea the intricacies and "second" level of the genre. I guess the topic is about making that second layer more apparent to people. I think it's the same situation with sports. For instance, American football and football (soccer) both have extreme intricate levels of detail and strategy. In fact, both are intricate enough to be very competitive (coaches mode) sim-worthy video games (if done right). However, many people have no idea what those intricacies are and consider one being moronic or the other wimpy and boring. How to really make that "second" level of depth easily apparent is an interesting question? Or Common knowledge I should say. It's really a difficult thing to label concisely. Discovering that magic. That's what made me love fighting games but it took me really learning one (I was drawn to BB) to get me going. Sorry if there are typos or w/e as I'm heading out the door. I'm just a lowly mediocre player who is slowly stepping up his BB and GG game.

I am not the greatest in the execution department. My Litchi as a main shows it. But playing guilty gear and Robo Ky is so much fun. I struggled with frcs consistently but now I'm not even thinking about them-- keep in mind I'm not the greatest in execution. But I think I support the notion that if you like the game, you'll take the time to learn it. My niece is a tekken/soul calibur player and refuses to learn any 2-d fighting game. I really tried to get her to try P4U, so there are always those people that don't want to put in the effort. I was a fighting game novice with Calamity Trigger. I thought 5B, 5C (5D) CS and 6a air combos was a breakthrough. Basics mixups and staggers, frame traps etc slowly developed for me-- maybe over a few years time. So, I think those that enjoy the game will play it. Has there been a surge of new players due to PAU? -
Good games to Alientech00 and Azureblackfang. I have no idea if they are DL people. I haven't played online in a while but it was nice to know I've improved a little. Though I still have to adjust to online defense and aggression.

Rofl i use 2k, 2HS to punish some things. If I can't hit-confirm air combo you, I'm just gonna hit-confirm 2HS lazer you and go for Lv. 2 bazooka oki or 5P pressure. That's really all I was doing. I wasn't trolling or anything. I mean, I was using different pressure strings like 5P, 5S, 2P, missile or 5P, 5S, 2P, f.S, horsie, or 5P, 5k mash, or 5P, 5S, j.S, J.HS. 5P or whatever variations I can think of. Robo Kys 2HS Lazer are -7 on block. I can't just abuse that stuff. I was sometimes making you block it on purpose so I can bait counter-hits with 5HS frc. You had me blocking a lot. I was not sure why you stopped after a bunch of close matches. I was adjusting to online play because I was missing frcs. But, it was pretty competitive.

GGs with Star-demon. You really need to stay aggressive and don't be so cautious. You perfected me a round and had me corned the first 2 matches. I had no idea why you changed up suddenly the next few-- well game 5 you definitely did.

I like it and posted it on FB. I know some people that think fighting games are mindless button mashers and simplistic because they are 2D.

Haven't been able to at all.

Good first to 10 against Hokuwokk. I needed some online action. Curse the net though lol.

lol I guess my connection is not Guilty Gear friendly lol.

Yeah you made things very clear. I learn some better pressure options and things. I need to lab on a lot of things and maybe even go as far to write them down. I still can't do those lv3 missile j.p whiff oki things yet. I will learn. Rofl at now "deep pocket" A.B.A. I was like, "oh, yeah, shouldn't I have gotten out of moroha mode."
-
Yeah Hokuwokk, I need to start using command grab more. I'm not sure if I was getting enough knockdowns for 2D mats. But I'm probably not using it as much as I should. Dr. Stormlocke Robo Ky-Sensei. Your Robo-Guide is not stupid proof enough to teach me how to pressure with him.

Internet is not liking me right now.

Wanna play now?

ok. SaxplayaTJ down for some .....vs. Robo Ky matches. I'm in Virginia so hit me up if on the east coast. Wow.....Playing against OG high-level guilty gear players just feels much different from other games. I was way over my head. The game feels a lot faster.

Yeah true. I actually have trouble instant air dashing on one side in guilty gear. I actually have to sometimes use the 6579 input. But yeah...I need to find other means to deal with the corner. I'm happy i got a started getting used to j.s counter-hit confirms and one a round off of a 5HS frc. combo. I'll be sure to adjust and try to be more consistently competitive next time. Gotta grind robo kys pressure strings again because i wasn't mixing it up enough.
