[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

It will be interesting to see if it's okay to use it all at once or to carefully manage it at a slower pace and keep it up as much as possible. -
Good matches today Hyderu. I could not see your connection at all and took the risk-- I saw that tear emoticon-- but it was fun and playable. Also shoutouts to Platinum Milk. I'm making the CP Litchi transition and it was funny running into two Plats. I only play recently when I'm pain free.

Lol SKD on the online tourney or whatever was like, screw this, netplay engaged.

I am mediocre at best so take that with more or less benefit as necessary: For 1) I think gatlings (canceling moves into moves) make things a bit easier to start out instead of links. BBCP also comes with a pretty decent tutorial guide and then a challenge mode for basic specials for character through basic and intermediate combos. Timing isn't gonna kill you with easier characters. They even can show you buttons. Worst case, there is a stylish mode too, but it's playable. Blazblue was first contemplative 2-d fighting game years ago and I have no (basic) SF4 execution even now so it's definitely manageable. A bit different, but manageable. Your hardest situation is going to be finding people your own skill level to play with to help you grow. I will say there is a wide range of skill levels. You'll also find a vast array of character styles so something will click with you. 2) It's pad doable. A few characters maybe be more difficult. Play your preference. I started on pad and moved to stick now, but I can still casual on pad. 3) I lost to pretty low tier Amane today several times. Unless super high level, I wouldn't matter about it. I hope this helps a bit. I picked up the game blind when BBCT came out and now I'm playing Persona 4, Guilty Gear, etc. There's also tons of resources on dustloop and people willing to help.

Is it just me or was BBCP's localization job rather sloppy?

Really? I downloaded 9 times and still got the error. They said they were gonna give me a refund, said they didn't do them but...Then 7-10 days later, I get that my refund has been denied. -
you get a special customization item or something. I usually grab it then go to a NA lobby where no one is.

People don't easily perceive what happens in fighting games when they don't play them. I enjoyed some strafe jumping.
-
On another note, I was told by someone that first person shooters were vastly more complex than really simple fighting games because they were 3D and that fighting games were simple button mashers (argument based on movement space) and that's why they'll never play them. And not counter-strike, quake 2/3, unreal 99/2003/04 etc. or something as their example, but COD.

Haha, Rocky 1/2 Apollo Creed: "I won but I didn't beat him." This is all goes down to personal philosophy when it comes to what outplayed means. My opponent didn't play better than me strategically but I didn't play well enough to win and/or My opponent had more precision/less mistakes both mean: I need to play better to beat them-- unless some unavoidable lag thing. Me personally, I view my bad execution and lack of combos as a reason why I am not at a higher level of players. Lol I don't use any characters plethora of optimum combos. Clutch is a skill. If you make a mistake, it's your fault-- Miss a confirm, drop a combo, mess up an input, fail to punish, miss a tech etc. To be fair, I get what Airk means. I know the U.S. national soccer team may feel like they outplayed Portugal, but it was a tie due to seizing opportunities be it more or fewer. The results say a lot. I think we are striving for both good play and precision. Precision and mistakes is why the best always doesn't win in sports and makes anything competitive worthwhile and not so predictable. Important. Sports cliche: Today they were better: meaning they executed better.

yeah true. I see Ragna players do it a lot specifically. I just mention Robo because missile oki makes it viable anywhere (first learned it in the DL guide). I'm sure it makes command grab an option too for Tusbaki. I haven't used it because roll techs out of the corner drive me nuts. Does it beat that on a hard knockdown?
-
yeah sounds like Robo Ky oki timing. I would imagine j.A into IAD high, empty jump low or empty jump grab

Who is the I-no player with 25+ win streak in the latest Acho vid? They were trolling pretty hard it seemed. I can't wait to see high level play in higher qualities. -

Big lobbies I think are nice for people who have trouble finding solid connections, like me. It also alleviates things like just chllin' in the NY Stream room in P4U because you know that's the only player room you'd surely get solid connections. -
good talk. Pressure has been killing me with Tsubaki. I forget either command grabs, throw attempts or frame trapping. I couldn't do all of those things consistently in a set. I would practice them (I even wrote down maybe 20+ small strings because she relies on that) but in a match, 5C dash resets haha. Good to know. I guess you just have to suck for a while to gain something each time. Probably going back to Litchi though. We'll see if I start playing again after a few weeks.
-
I think finding mistakes in replays and applying them to actual matches is quite difficult-- without tunneling on those specific things. For instance, if I need to not do something, my entire proactive game shuts down.

After 2 close 3 round matches and comments: Let's just say I sent someone PSN messages saying chill which they kind of did. But i think they're dead serious. t'was like "I can't take this anymore. I've been dealing with this crap for years." "My def is great because I don't use burst, burst sucks etc." (some paraphrasing). I'm like, "Yo, dawg, chill. It's just a game. Some people are learning or just unwinding." There's that other guy who is like, I won't play such and such character. No Izayois but denies Tsubaki. "Denied." X (3 connection made me sad though it's like 0-3 by the minute). "You're not gonna let me play. Your just gonna put me in the corner and combo me etc"-- not to me. On the contrary, if my play-styles have ever ignored anyone on PSN, my bad. I've been dealing with some health issues so I can't practice too much as well as even play-- been sacrificing pain for some games. Plus, I am pretty mediocre/sub-mediocre at fighting games in general-- I read gaps wrong all day and rely on scrambling too much. I get everything from you're a good tsubaki (I shutdown those lies everytime :P) or have potential to omg you're a scrub lol. Don't got the juice.

Reminds me. Good games to chickendrunk a few days go.

I think my nerve pain is so bad, I can't tell if my stick, pad and ps3 are broken, or if my system is on an input delay. I still could get perfect impacts in hot shots golf: invitational, so maybe nerve damage? Is there some diagnostic? lol, no crazy gaming until the neurologist appointment I guess. Salty when trying to see someone since February. Lag screws up everyone, especially bad lag. Input delay is by far the most evil thing imaginable unless you play more using muscle memory.
-
Haha, I remember a CS1 (I think) set against Nineball-- Litchi vs. Ragna. I remember I stuffed out his 6B during his corner pressure once and he never used it again in pressure the next 2-3 fights (3 rounds). My brain was messed up after that.
-
I rather play Litchi any day than Tsubaki in input delay. Tsubaki vs. Kagura with some significant delay was not fun when you can't pressure. I guess lag and delay are different. I guess there is a lot of variables. Priority can be a big deal in lag I suppose. Hard confirms kill some characters. I couldn't imagine CT Taokaka online. I'd Ragna 5b all day.
-
wow, I didn't know that existed. Ah, i see. it's a decent defensive option. I have a habit, perhaps bad, of using RC after 623C j.214 or 623C (RC) IAD/dj rather than just 623C j.214D.
