  1. I'm bringing a ps2 with GG just in case it's needed.
  2. I found Dizzy to be a good character to learn the game (and the genre) with initially. I think she has one of the smoothest learning curves in the game. For beginners, you can just chain normals from light to heavy into icespike and do passable damage without FRCs or other difficult inputs, and throw out her various projectiles to play a semi-zoning game and experiment with different attack patterns. As you get more advanced, she has icespike FRC combos, double airdash mixups, lots of different pressure strings/mixups, bubble loops, etc. The hardest part of playing Dizzy initially is her weak defense and low priority, which could possibly encourage you to learn to block, a which is probably a good thing for beginners anyway. I also found Faust to have a relatively easy set of basics to get comfortable with, and it's pretty easy to understand the purpose of his different normals just by looking at them. IMO that can be very helpful to someone learning the game, and something that I also noticed with Dizzy. In my experience introducing new people to the game, they tend to have success with/gravitate to Ky and Order Sol. My guess is that people feel more comfortable with their good-priority normals and the basic combos they can discover during the "sophisticated button mashing" phase that everyone goes through when they play a new game for the first time and are trying to figure out their character's moves and combos by trial and error.
  3. We have a couple Melty Blood players in Indianapolis, and Fort Wayne has one or two. I'm the only Arcana Heart player I know of in Indiana though.
  4. I'm such a huge fan that I still play it MY OWN CLONE
  5. Counterhit 5D > 236C combos are very useful in this match. It's great for punishing predicted sledges, sometimes even at relatively close range since his hitbox is so wide. At the very least it gives Tager a real reason to respect your 5D now that 5DD 4DD doesn't work anymore. I definitely miss 6C wallbounce on counterhit, it was much easier to stuff predicted sledges with that.
  6. I play MBAA. I'm planning on making it out to the next Guilty Gear ranbat at Arcade Legends.
  7. Guard breaking seems more of a threat than something you might expect to accomplish frequently. Lambda's offense is decent but she doesn't really do a ton of damage off her mixup options aside from rapid-cancelled 3C. Once you get them down to 2 or 3 primers then the notion of guardbreak into 4500+ act parcer combos just encourages them to turtle less and makes them more likely to eat damage from Lambda's strong zoning and AA combos.
  8. http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=215518 lol I've tried. He did play some Melty Blood a few weeks ago though.
  9. Circuitous are you coming to the Indianapolis tournament later this month? I'm sort of helping run it and I'm planning on bringing an extra setup reserved for Guilty Gear or Melty Blood or whatever. The same question could be posed to everyone else in this thread as well. There is no official GG tournament this time but we had like 13 people play last time and we could always run a side tournament.
  10. Two Kyles in Indiana? Sorcery!
  11. yeah that's pretty much how it is for me in every game. I have slow reactions so I'm mostly guessing on mixups every time. Plus I don't have much matchup experience outside of Dizzy vs Baiken so escaping pressure is half guesswork as well. Poor execution just seals the deal lol.
  12. I already posted in the SRK thread but I'll sign up for GG here anyway.
  13. I ate triple unblockables from Eddie and 70-80% combos from Slayer all day on Saturday, but I would still prefer that over going back to Slash Dizzy. I think most people just prefer the game where their own character isn't horrible.
  14. Good games guys, thank you Macarthur Blunts and Doragonkoroshi for playing so many casuals with me even though I'm terrible. Hopefully I'll have fully adjusted to stick the next time we meet, I couldn't even get a single double airdash mixup to come out on Saturday, it was embarrassing.
  15. I don't remember what video it was, but I recall someone doing 3C > RC > 5C > 6C > loop. I don't remember if it was comboed into or a counterhit or what, but it worked. It might have been in the Kaqn vs Dennou match.
  16. It probably has to do with untechable time based on number of hits in the combo.
  17. some more videos of lambda looking pretty good. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9114091 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9114427 The first one is supposed to be Reria, I believe. One interesting thing I've been seeing lambda do (example in the second video) is to sometimes not end an air combo with crescent and instead try to land and AA them for a reset.
  18. indeed.
  19. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9091875 This video gives me the most hope for Lambda. Although she does lose to Taokaka, it's fairly close every time, and it's nice to see her doing some big damage even if it's only off of one move.
  20. DA DOCTUZ IZ IN
  21. Does 6C still wallbounce on counterhit? I mostly liked using it to punish Tager if I predicted a sledge.
  22. Are you gentlemen coming to AL this saturday for the ranbat? Last time the GG turnout was a bit weaker than expected. Also, if any of you play Melty Blood, I'll be looking for people to play.
  23. I don't recall seeing this posted in here anywhere so I figured I would post it for future reference in case the official changes thread goes away.
  24. Isuka was amazing
