  1. I'm really sick of people saying this, because it's completely WRONG. These two characters are NOTHING alike except that they both have a gauge they charge up. If Potemkin had a 'charge gauge' would that make HIM 'just like Tsubaki'? No it would not. And Order Sol is nothing like her either. The two characters have fundamentally different strategies, normals, and approaches the the match. They just both have a gauge. Whoopeee.
  2. A little bit of punctuation somewhere in this gruesome run-on-sentance would make it a lot easier for people to figure out what your question is so they can answer it. Just sayin'. I think are you asking if CP has online play? Which seems like a weird question? But yes? You can play with your friends as long as they have the game too? As for tournaments, head over to the Event Announcements forum and look there.
  3. Yeah; Head Invulnerable from frame four for... as long as she holds it? Really? Who thinks this stuff is okay? x.x
  4. That makes sense, thanks.
  5. Closer makes sense, I guess. But why would they be trying to jump/poke out of 5CC > CC when 5CC > 6B beats both for pretty good reward now? I'll be honest, I've never found much use for 6C in blockstrings. =/
  6. I really don't understand this; Yes, you can lose to a lot of stuff from 5CC > CC, but all that same stuff wins against 5C > CC. Why is one a good idea and the other not? They have basically the same number of followup options (1 gatling, special cancels) and one is -2 while the other is even?
  7. Well, there are things you can do. If you're feeling gutsy, you can throw out 214B or 214D as you approach. Or you can just throw out 5C or 5B 'early' - anticipating him trying to do Gustaf; After all, he doesn't have any invulnerability on it, so it's entirely possible to beat it with spacing. Also, if you want to jump in on him but are worried about 2C, just jump-in-barrier, so even if he throws out an anti-air, you're pretty safe. Also, his 2C has even more recovery than ours, so baiting it with a double jump can get you a big-ol jump in combo, and even if he doesn't bite, you're making him react in a much tighter window when you -do- do a jump in. Mostly though I really feel like you're not controlling the neutral game, and you have to.
  8. But they already made the range shorter, which meant that anything you do afterwards is already probably closer than it was in EX, just by necessity. Lowering the attack level without giving us a custom amount of blockstun is still a nerf. It's been +0 since forever (in fact, I think it might've been +0 in CS1.). 5C used to be +0 as well, but it lost an attack level when it got faster for Extend. I don't actually suggest 5CC > 5D > 5B - this will ALWAYS lose to mash jab and is generally slower than doing 5CC > 5D > 5C, which also leads into better reward if you can CH with it. 5A is safest if you want to restart pressure (unless you're a long way off). 5B is... well, honestly, it's slow. I won't go for it unless you've really been pushed out.
  9. So the short form of this is - you play like I do. You're scared of on-the-ground neutral. Literally every time you approached at neutral in the first two matches, you either IAD'd in, or did a [4]6D>236D to cover yourself. In the third match, you also did a couple of neutral 3Cs, but the pattern is still mostly there. You -need- to be willing to walk/run forward and throw out a normal to start your pressure - especially against a character like Azrael who doesn't really have good midrange options. You cannot rely on air approaches and specials to get you in all the time. Go find some matches where Kiba plays. You'll see him running forward a lot. While you don't need to do it as much as he does, necessarily, you have to do it sometimes. You may be amazed at how well it works.
  10. Uh, if they are mashing out of your combos, that's your fault. A combo is a combo, and they can't get out until it's over unless you screw up.
  11. 5BB is worse now because they lowered the attack level from 3 to 2. (WHHYYYY?) so it's no longer really a valid charge cancel point, whereas in was in extend.
  12. It's an 'event', not a place - the place is Tommy Doyle's in Harvard Square. So far we've had at least half a dozen folks for BB each night, though I think things fall apart a little bit later in the evening when the people with PS3 sticks need to go. So uh, bring a stick if you have one.
  13. In general? Somewhat. In the UK? Probably not. =/ Sure, but our connection would be...sketchy, probably. Please refer to this thread: Importing 101
  14. It's more like "now CP is stuck with PSN and it's crappy 'lags if you want to talk to someone' infrastructure." EVERYONE loses.
  15. Oh yeah, sorry. Don't need to do links to individual combos unless someone is bored enough to do that work (might happen to me sometime) but I was just thinking "it's silly that when I want to go see the tutorial combos, I go to the video thread and not the combo thread." Sooo.
  16. I won't be able to make it for the 23rd - I'll be travelling that day for my long Thanksgiving Holiday. My usual rule of thumb for BB stuff is that a 'game' takes about 3 minutes. It's rare for one game to take more than 3.5 minutes (that'd be 3 rounds of more than 70 seconds each, assuming no button checks and minimal time wasted on char select). But you're probably better off rounding up to 5 minutes for at least the first match, because it's always better for things to go faster than planned. After that? You figure about 50% of your matches will go 2-0 and 50% will go 2-1, so that's "2.5" games per match, so call it like 10 minutes for a two out of three (5 minutes for the first game, 3 minutes for the next, then maybe a 3rd one). 3 out of 5 probably better to say 15 minutes. Those are all intuitive guesses though, based on watching lots of streams. :P And it seems like a lot of the time, more time is spent trying to find people to play their matches than it is actually playing them.
  17. Someone's going to need to bring a PS3 - the venue only provides 360s. (Er, and Gamecubes.)
  18. Do we think it would be wise to put links to combo videos - or at least, practical combo videos - in the combo thread? It seems like that would make it a better resource for all things Tsubaki combo related.
  19. Not really. If anything, it's slightly harder because it's slightly more crap to wire up, but it's still not a big deal.
  20. Well, pretty much everything you need IS "specialized stuff" in that the only thing it's for is building an Arcade Stick/Hitbox. So in that sense, you're right, but none of it is hard to get, because there's a pretty thriving cottage industry around this sort of thing.
  21. hm, sorry. I coulda sworn I saw a video where Hazama traded with Jayoku. Must've misunderstood. Thanks for the sarcasm though, that was super helpful. -_- Anyway, I think the reason that Zouf's trick works is that only one of the black holes actually has a hitbox, so apparently the first few frames of the forward roll are enough to get you out of it? (or maybe it just doesn't hit low enough to the ground? That'd be odd). That said, if this works, would D-DP > j.214D be enough to get you clear of the hitbox? Also, Errol, your method should work, I think, if you CA -early- enough, because you'll be breaking out of the blockstun from the laser and hitting her before she can start up the black hole. You'd need to kinda guess she was going to do it though, and it'd be an easy place for her to bait the CA.
  22. Rock on, PSN. You are TOTALLY just as good as XBL. :P
  23. D DP will totally get us out of that. It has tons of invulnerability. What are other characters using to beat this? Because I would expect the normal DP to work as long as Kokonoe isn't invulnerable by the time it hits?
  24. I think this is a known bug in CP.
  25. I dunno why you'd feel this way; Overall, it seems like CP is less solid than Extend in terms of balance, and CS2 and CSE were hands down better than CS1... >.<
