Weekly News Post Skipping the biweekly this week for various reasons. NOT hosting on Tuesday either, way too tired. However, we'll be hosting both Friday (6:30pm onwards) and Saturday (afternoon onwards). Friends from Ottawa are coming over, so come to the meetups and play them! That does mean that sleeping spots at our place will be limited, and I'd ask anyone who was planning on staying over either night to find an alternative or ask if ever. If you need the address, I can PM you, let me know.

Probably the smashloft. We have tournaments there every two weeks. I'll just say it's more adapted to our needs. Hope you start having some free time soon so you can come check it out for yourself!

I hope this doesn't destroy the scene lol. yo, come to meetups or tournaments some time :o sometimes we do meetups on weekends. would you be available for that kind of stuff? if you want to learn mahjong, this flash game does an ok job of covering the basics : http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/mahjong/mahjong_e.html but I find the rng on it is kind of dumb more often than it should be lol. tenhou is a nice site to play and practice after, but it's dangerously addictive lol...

lol I've only put time in Ky and Faust, but I don't think I'll work on other characters yet, as there's a looming patch and enough other great games to play. (like dfc. play dfc.)

Oh yeah I guess I never did actually confirm there was a meetup this Friday at our place (6:30 pm as usual). Miss you eb, we need to share Ky stuff again. Hopefully Kazuhiro and Manaboy will also be there :D

Ottawa's pretty close so the trip is only one day and really inexpensive. If you're looking for a first out of town tournament experience, this is what you're looking for. "her stein game at neutral is thrown out of the window" I'm not sure what you mean. It does seems a bit different, but the whole concept of : Step 1. Use normals and movement to get the opponent to respect your space Step 2. Place steins when you think they'll respect too much Step 3. Use 236d/214d when the positioning is good looks like it's still there. Execution-wise it might be different because the cancel options changed, but tactics/gameplan should be similar. The impact of the range nerf shouldn't be that bad on the strategy. 236d's range is the same, and lasers should still prevent enemies from approaching you. It might change the matchup against other zoners, but a more spacing/rush-down style was preferred in those situations. I might be wrong, but none of us has played the patched version of the game yet, and won't for another few months. We'll get a better idea then.

Prize for all games will come from this, if it's under 35$, it'll be winner takes all, if it's above, we'll split it between top 3. Also going to stick to the schedule better so we can fit these games in this week. If you think you might be late for a game, you can still post here to sign up, we'll hold your matches a bit, but could DQ you eventually. UNIEL made it in this week due to the result from the poll. We'll see how that goes, how late it ends, and see if the next times we'll make a rotation with another game, or run it after... BBCP finals will still be 2/3 if we're running later than planned, game takes so long lol. IMPORTANT : We'll need people to bring equipment. Most setups there are CRTs, so I'm bringing a monitor+PS3 for the main station. If you're bringing a PS3, make sure to bring at least the RCA output cable, if you can't bring a monitor. Bring your sticks too please! Seriously no idea how many we'll need nor how many we'll have since it's the first time, but if you could post and let us know ahead what you're bringing it would be awesome! So, there should be lots of time for casuals, maybe we'll run other games, if there's local interest. I really want to support other games such as AH3, DFC, Melty... but let's at least start simple. Since it's a new place for us, we're not sure what the ideal format and schedule are. I know some people specifically won't be able to be there early enough for the tournaments' start, but without the knowledge of how many stations we'll have and how long they will take to run, I want to play it safe this week. There should be a stream, I'll post details when we figure that out.
