  1. Or those DJ Hero tables. And Marvel's a friggin' salt factory. I can't get used to She-Hulk randomly tumbling all over the place and Hulk randomly crossing you up as your next character jumps in. Also, I know I'm not a serious Tekken player, but is it just me or does Tekken 6 feel a LOT better than TTT2? TTT2's all clunky and slow where 6 is fast and fluid. @hitbox - How do you orient your movement controls? That seems pretty awkward.
  2. How the hell are you supposed to play MvC3 without getting salty as fuck?
  3. Are there going to be entry fees for team vs team battles?
  4. "What. . . I. . . God?" ". . . okay.jpg"
  5. As far as I know, it's just Woz and myself on ps3, unless someone else wants in, so that should make it simple. I won't be able to do this until I head to Kriss's place, but it should be doable as long as Woz is up for a match sometime this week.
  6. Honestly if Midnight has Aegis down I'd say he should be repping TN too. Skilled player behind the best character in the game? Pffft. Though if not, we should figure out how it'll be decided. Though imo it should just be a brawl to see who earns the slot if we have the time. Deliberate character composition might be sensible, but exactly how much a player can squeeze out of their main is important too.
  7. Yeah. . . Pops is a trip. It's whatever, I'm focused on the singles. I can go undercover spy if necessary.
  8. That's exactly what I was looking at. Damosu's shown me a couple of safer methods of closing the gap between myself and the opponent so I can take advantage of her strength at close range, as well as inspired me to possibly find a more efficient way to pull off some of her harder techniques. It's like every time I review Japanese Liz footage there's some extra gem about the ways she can control space. @ Qualifiers - I heard Damosu entered and fought a couple people, but I can't find the vids. ed: didn't realize it was a stream. I'll wait for it to be uploaded.
  9. He is, but Satochi didn't understand enough to press his advantage in places where Damosu left himself open, or defend himself from his pressure when there were holes. If he'd forced Damosu to alter his own play, I wonder how that match might've ended up. Even so, going back to this vid I've learned a bit more about where I can make use of Liz's strengths and improve my own game. Before I was just like 'amg damosu haf my babiez', but now I'm taking notes. Time to watch the NEC qualifiers.
  10. Like I said, he's a solid player. He stepped up his fundamental game and used Mitsuru's strengths to his advantage. It's just his static play that makes me think we'd see a better representation of the MU if a faster thinking Mitsuru were to be pitted against Damosu. I'll re-watch it and point out what I mean later, if I still think it's true. Yeah, I'm almost finished with the set. I don't think he's specifically bad at adapting, but he just doesn't know the match-up. He falls for Damosu's tech traps without exploring his options, so he's vulnerable to it time and again. He respects his air presence way too much, too. I think it's just a matter of him not knowing Elizabeth and Damosu's terrifying stage presence. He's so caught up in the match that he doesn't try to find Liz's weaknesses, and instead relies on what he knows with Mitsuru, which lets him win. Since I can't read his mind, I can't tell if he's bad at adapting, or deliberately making the decision to stick with what he knows. However, since he doesn't fully understand the match-up I stand by my point that it wasn't a proper representation of Mitsuru vs. Elizabeth even though he won. /nolife. I need a damn job.
  11. Which is literally exactly what we just covered in discussing her risk/reward. She capitalizes with high damage hit-confirms but in return has to pick the opponent's brain to get those hit-confirms while avoiding getting wrecked. As for that match, the Mitsuru was relatively free. He refused to abandon his habits even after repeatedly being trapped by the same tactics(easily avoidable tech traps). Damosu is really good, but him vs. Satochi isn't a great representation of the match-up, imo. He's a solid player, but his refusal to adapt leads me to question his capacity to rep Mitsuru. Liz is amazing until your opponent understands her weaknesses and takes advantage of them. Then she's only as good as you are at keeping your opponent guessing. Sorry for wanting a couple useful tools for my character. . . I understand that she has her own strengths and I will play to them, I was just being wistful. It won't reflect in my play at all, so I can show you myself how frustrating Liz can be. In any case, fuckin' hype for this weekend. Me and Vocal might be able to make it up tomorrow depending on his plans. It'll be fun seeing the competitive year off with a bang before buckling down and becoming productive 'n shit.
  12. Ah. My console died just as I was beginning to implement magarudyne into my pressure, so I haven't learned the pitfalls of using it myself yet. Gonna have to try this out. ed: didn't see the meaty part. Nobody else in the game really calls out to me, so I'm stuck with her. I just wish we had a legit counter-assault, legit maragidyne oki, legit Thanatos mix-up, SOMETHING. It's like she was made purely to keep the opponent in the corner and for nothing else.
  13. Forgot to mention that, it's been awhile since I played. Was beating myself up because I entirely forgot to use that and my air unblockables as part of my mix-up last tournament. It's actually pretty easy and Liz is surprisingly strong up close. Really easy to bait dp's and 5D becomes a tool to be feared. With fear or a legit ch they can't tech it and you get 2.5k + push them into the corner, or 3-4k if you're willing to shell out some meter and have the execution. (Dash the instant of wall-bounce > 5C(2) > tight link RC 5C on 5C's second hit > combo) Plus even if they tech, a lot of players are jarred by the surprise of being grappled by a so-called zoner that they're a lot more vulnerable to whatever you pressure them with next.
  14. Actually I don't really think her mix-ups are strong personally, I was just assuming that a better Liz player could be more spontaneous and tricky since she's so reliant on gimmicks. With a virtually useless AoA and no other overheads, her mix-ups are pretty simple and easy to defend against, but still respectable with random 5D's in the mix. It's only once you've initiated Thanatos mix-up (after 5C) that 5D becomes worthless even if you cancel the second hit of 5C. It has just a bit too much start-up, imo. She seems to rely heavily on meaty 5D's over mix-up 5D's. I'd rather have legit oki than a dangerous, gimmicky guessing game. Though that reliance might just stem from my personal failings as a player. Maragidyne sucks once your opponents know how to deal with it, maziodyne only nets a bit of chip and capitalizing on that oki with pressure requires you to be close (typically a bad idea when using maziodyne) as well as a chunk of meter while still being vulnerable to a reversal, same with magarudyne. /mesayingeverythingyoujustsaidsoidon'tlookfree
  15. Keep-away with baseball bat. All. Day. It beats out: 5C, 5D, all of our normals, and is pretty much only vulnerable to jump-ins and flames. If you're spaced correctly we won't have the time for flames and you'll have ample time to ready your 2B or roll under the jump-in. I wouldn't say -extremely- flawed. Just really weak on D and the risk of her mix-up is amplified by her low health. dat option select. Nah, that wouldn't help anyone. Instead of assuming someone's incompetence (a logical fallacy which also failed to invalidate his point), you should instead present a rational counter-point explaining where they went wrong. If you're too lazy to do this, the wiser option would be not to speak up at all.
  16. Ergo, she's least viable. It's not that she isn't viable, she's just less viable relative to the rest of the cast. You might also consider the risk in actually racking up that damage - her combos are very execution heavy with tight links (such that you can't truly confirm a hit, but rather have to predict that your opponent is going to fall for certain combo starters) and strict, character specific motions during the magarudyne sections. I know one usually considers a character's strengths by assuming that the player can land all of their combos, but when they're difficult, (like with Aegis, or to a much lesser extent Liz) I think that's something to consider as well. It's one thing for Aegis, who is widely considered the best in the game. But when a character already struggles and one of their only redeeming traits is their damage, difficult combos only make the disparity even more apparent.
  17. She isn't necessarily low tier, just gimmicky to the point where she is the least viable. Unless you have someone else in mind for that position.
