lolz, TIL Jackie mains Mario. As for UNiB, it seems like it'll be really freaking hype. Smooth, fast gameplay plus extremely satisfying sfx for hits makes me feel matches will be really intense and visceral. Can't wait to duke it out with you guys in this game. -

Deep down I think we all love Nickelback. So deep even we don't realize it. We love to hate it because everyone else does. -

Under Night In-Birth has been vamped up a bit, and it seems like the mechanics and characters have been polished. Voices were added and we're apparently nearing a Japanese arcade release. Even if we don't get a US release, I'll gladly import multiple copies so we can run this shit. In hopes of generating some interest, here are the redone character introductions: Hyde - Main character/Ragna 2.0 status. (Jackie) Yuzuriha - Iai striking dai-katana wielder with a projectile rejecting jacket. (Star) Seth - Speedster knife dual-wielder. He lacks the raw speed, but his sheer maneuverability, mix-up, and oki game puts Yosuke to shame. (Me, Grimstar) Merkava - Dhalsim bat demon thing. His reach is ridiculous, and he can fly. Carmine - Set-up blood user. He sacrifices health to set up poison pools that damage you while you stand on them, and can be activated later as attacks. Linne - She dual-wields a plank of metal and a combat knife, and a derpy little dragon follows her around. She's got short-ranged projectiles and a buster blade super. Gordeau - Massive pocket-scythe wielder with pirate swag. (Woz) Orie - Fencer with a Persona/Nirvana-like servitor. Possibly a charge character. Vatista - Zoner loli. She looks like Mu-12 with Liz's lasers and Millia's orbs. Waldstein - Grappler with deceptive hitboxes. (Astaroth) There's also Hilda, a Mature-esque woman in a dress who zones like Lambda, but she doesn't have an introductory vid yet. -

I know some of you guys have reddit accounts. If you don't, go make one, it'll take like 2 seconds. This needs more upvotes so people will actually see it. http://www.reddit.com/r/Fighters/comments/yokx6/oct_13t14_2250_bonus_king_of_bling_tournament/ -

oh god no. . . @Milln - That's why I said wind. Pretty sure the dude who did that used the wind off of his attacks as another weapon. I can't remember if it was Jin or not. edit: Nope. But I do remember it being from YYH too. I wouldn't mind it if the damn hitbox wasn't invisible. -

So tired of Mitsuru's silly hitboxes. Why do I have to dodge not only her sword, but the air around it? Last I checked she didn't use wind. :@ -

Yeah I lost any potential respect for him when he wrote off anyone who played an entire character as a scrub in BB days. -

Actually, now that I know I was wrong about his tick throw being inescapable, I don't really have a problem with Kanji. He has an annoying array of options on wake-up, but at leas they're actually manageable. -

Everybody rages at some point or another, but I've never seen him let frustration affect his entire opinion of a character. If he has something about a character he dislikes, I've always seen him put forth a decent argument explaining his viewpoints. You're also switching up your entire argument now to make your statements fit. I don't know what it is, but I see a hefty disregard for anything that Star tries to point out by everybody but Naimat and more recently Milln. It seems like everyone else just writes him off as bad for little to no reason, and it's kind of silly. -

I've tried dping out of it; I didn't have the frames. I didn't have the frames to jump, I didn't have the frames to short hop. I'm going to the lab to test it again, but I've done it before and it never worked. If I'm mistaken I apologize, but I've been going off of my experience where I had no options against it. edit: Alright, my bad, guys. I guess I just fucked it up because the window is so tiny. This still doesn't change the stupidity of the match-up basically coming down to Maziodyne. I'd also appreciate it if you didn't insult me in the future for being confused or misinformed; we don't all have a rich, storied history playing fighters. I'll happily admit that my only experience with grapplers is Tager, Clark/Daimon, and Kanji. -

...No, you don't understand. The instant he has you blocking his attacks he gets an assured inescapable command grab setup. There is no "might" unless the Kanji doesn't know it exists. You can't jump. The only options for it are counter-assault and bursting. If Liz counterassaults, he could decide to d command grab and STILL beat it out, only this time for MORE damage. -

Uh, doesn't mind-games include -reading that your opponent is going to be blocking-? I didn't say that was the extent of grapplers, I was just throwing an aspect out there. It's not a mind-game at all if they FORCE you to block and then punish you for it. You're telling me Kanji's mind-games are nothing but successful? If I block, I get thrown. If I don't block I get combo'd. Tell me, where is the yomi in that? And now you're just putting words in my mouth. I never ONCE argued against Kanji have good normals. -

You're making a ton of assumptions. The point of a grappler is to punish blocking by reading that your opponent is going to block and throwing. Not MAKING your opponent block, and THEN punishing them for it. You're essentially telling me I'm not even allowed to be in normal range (which I need to, to, y'know, pressure) You're telling me instead of blocking I'm supposed to just take combos to the face. You're telling me I should be "zoning" by staying just a bit outside of Kanji's optimal spacing and spamming maziodyne. This. Mitsuru vs Elizabeth is 7-3 solely because of well timed coup droits. Elizabeth vs. Kanji is 7-3 solely because of well timed maziodynes. And apparently this is TOTALLY acceptable, lmfao. -

Nope. The point is I can wait for them to try something. Jump at me? Maziodyne. Anti-zoning lightning bolt? Maziodyne. The best bet is to walk toward me, instant block everything, and slowly work your way in. Then I could sacrifice Thanatos to get some space and distance myself from him again, all the while making every inch gained a tedious struggle. It's a stupid fucking way to play a fighter, imo. There are no options against Mitsuru's coup droit because they time it so that they're punishing both you AND Thanatos. This destroys Elizabeth's pressure, does a good chunk of damage, and eventually lands you in the corner. My only option then is to try and outpoke her. . .Yeah, I'm gonna go outpoke Mitsuru. -

It's not about losing to Kanji, lol. . . I could've beat him, it's just that he's the one who showed me you can't even BLOCK against him. The thing is, you can't "just level up" and body Kanji. He has answers for EVERYTHING. Zoning? If he's spaced correctly, he's got answers. Mix-up? EVERYBODY has answers for Liz's mixup, it's supposed to be punishable due to her playstyle! The only problem is, Kanji's punishes completely reject Elizabeth's "I'm going to punish you for hurting Thanatos'" style because he can be out of range for it. I'm fine with oki, it makes sense and it's supposed to be like that. But when you have 5-6 different options to the defensive player's three, and several of those tools cover MULTIPLE OPTIONS, it gets really frustrating. But they do! That's my problem, lol. I'm not allowed to pressure Kanji at all because if I do he has an answer for it. I have to wait and spam maziodyne on reaction to every fucking thing he does, and it gets stupid. Like I said, it's retarded when a match-up hinges on a single tool. I could beat every Kanji for free if I sat back and waited for him to twitch so I could maziodyne. But what the fuck kind of fight is that? It's just as stupid as Mitsuru winning for free because she times her coup droits properly. -

Except this implies it's actually difficult for him to get in. He's got multiple anti zoning tools for this, and it isn't even a matter of 'am I going to grab or not?'. It's a matter of will I fast grab? Slow grab? Dp? Blockstring into grab? And yet he's STILL considered bottom tier. Because grappler. Yeah, but every character in the game doesn't have an inescapable command grab that can do 3k. -

Volpe-de-Glacio replied to Milln's topic in Locals
Yeah. And that's normal for grapplers, or anyone in general. But his sheer amount of options on oki is silly, and it's not because he's a grappler. A grappler typically puts you in 50/50 situations that are actually manageable if you can read your opponent. Kanji is not just some grappler, so I'd like a logical counterpoint from the next person who feels like pointing out "LOL IT'S A GRAPPLER" You're missing the point where he can NEGATE zoning, PUNISH you for blocking a fucking BLOCKstring, and make you guess out of 50 different reads on wake-up. Tell me, please. How the fuck does that mean I'm simply bitching about a grappler? -

Okay, I'll cede that point. But how am I supposed to deal with him in general? Say I lock him down with maziodyne. Maziodyne B? J214A/B Punish, he's now in on me. Now I have to instantly get him out of my face or be forced to block (and subsequently lose 40% of my health) I can use Thanatos, but guess what? His mixup after 5C (her primary gtfaway tool) is 3/4's prediction, 1/4's reactable. Really all you need to do is sit there, block, and punish with a jumping normal with decent range. Kanji's jb is more than adequate for this. He literally has to jump back and hit jb. He'll evade 2 possibilities(with the option to punish afterward depending on the spacing), outright punish one (ironically the anti-air option), and clash with the 4th. 5D is reactable, as I mentioned, so when you see the startup you could just choose to punish it if your reflexes are good enough. Honestly you just have to Tager it. Slow walk and eventually I'll lose my Persona and you can run in, make me block, and kill me. Maziodyne A? He can punish with D. (Yeah, I get that it's very spacing specific, but spacing is a basic part of fundamentals. A Kanji worth their salt would always be spaced to use their anti zoning tools against a zoner.) Now I'm paralyzed or blocking, and he's got time to get in on me and (guess what?) make me block. There goes another 40%. And this is with minimal meter usage; I'm assuming with more he could easily ramp that up to 60-70% How am I supposed to play a "7-3" match-up properly when Kanji has an answer for every single one of my tools?
