Is it just me or was BBCP's localization job rather sloppy?
Luminos564 replied to Jotamide's topic in Zepp Museum
At this point, I think I will agree. Going all Highlander on the English Dub over the word "scrub" (I just felt it weird to be hearing it from Rachel during the story which is why I brought it up) is simply adding pebbles to Mt. Disappointment. Some were actually, kinda-sorta funny (like Jin saying "My body is ready" to Jubei). That being said, I still do not condone the other issues that have been brought up, like the falsely informing character tutorials, audio issues and lack of Library, etc. And I realize that many can and will shout "Well you can just look it up online" but, here's the thing: it shouldn't be my or anyone else's job to go out and search for information that the developers themselves were supposed to do in the first place. -

Far as Ramlethal is concerned, I just dig chicks with swords. Doubly so when they wield more than one and and they make them float. Ramlethal has everything I am looking for in a character personally. Whether or not I can actually use her is a separate matter altogether though I plan on giving her my best shot. If all else fails, there's always Sol who is the characters that drew me to GG in the first place. -

Ah, yeah I guess that makes sense. Maybe it's just weird considering who says it this time and we know it's typical use. -

Oh thank Cthulhu, some good news at least. I'm not going to say that Aksys are flawless but they're certainly better than Something Compelling. Eh I didn't mind Kagura going on about how much of an alpha he is considering for every attempt at playing the part (outside of actual combat at least) Makoto was right there to Galactica Impact him in the gut or when he's chewing Ragna's ass off for being weak (a "beta") because Ragna's life cannot go 5 minutes without someone insulting him in some way. Having said that though, I am not entirely sure how much I appreciated Rachel and other characters using the word "scrub". It just seemed so...out of place which is weird for a fighting game, but it really was. It wasn't used in a gag reel either, where it would have been appropriate. In my experience, unless more people start being very vocal about it, most companies are not going to even listen. But if we start letting people (read: potential buyers) know the kind of quality they are to expect, then I think we ought to get their attention. -
Chrono Phantasma Story Discussion [fun tentatively allowed again]
Luminos564 replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
Wait, doesn't that make Ragna a Chronophantasma as well? We've heard a lot about how EVERY character seems to perceive him as "The Destroyer of the World", "World's Enemy", "Dark One" etc. Yet, despite systematically blowing up NOL branches (with good reason) he has not caused any of the so-called and predicted "World Ending". In fact, it's more like he's been inadvertently saving it. Even as the Black Beast, his acts are not voluntary during the Dark War or as clearly shown in BBCP's epilogue. If anything, it's Relius, Hazama, Izanami and Kokonoe that have the potential to bring the world to ruin far more imminently than Ragna himself. -

Yeah, Midnight-Zephyr already beat you to the punch there though I appreciate the up-n-up anyway. But here's what I fear for now: if ASW couldn't give much of a rat's ass about how good of a job Strangely Compelling did with BBCP, what does the future hold for BB4 or the upcoming XBlaze: Code Embryo? The latter case has me particularly cautious since that game by definition is all text and visual imagery. If BBCP's Story Mode is the kind of quality I am to expect from someone attempting some kind of compelling narrative, then you can't fault me for either waiting to hear how the localization was handled or not buying the game at all. I spent ~90$ total on BBCP's LE because I was excited for the game and expected something good (or at least better than what I got) and complete (curious how ASW never even bothered to let people know we weren't getting the Library until AFTER people bought the game innit?). Hard lesson learned: never trust any gaming company to do a good job. -

Yeah, from the look of things she really doesn't gain any meter from her combination attacks at all. In fact, she doesn't gain it from her specials either. It seems only the swords give meter to burn though they give a substantial amount of it. -

First of all, that made me laugh far more than it should. Bravo sir, you've made my day a little bit better. Second of all, ask any given Caucasian living in good ol'Nihon and most of them would be able to recall how a kindly Japanese person thought they were a "slack-jawed, gun-toting Yankee cowboy". It's just how Japanese society tends to view the West in general, even though given how many multicultural roots exist in North America, chances are most of us are not like that. Thirdly, did they really change "meat bun" to "cheeseburger"? Because that makes shit for sense considering they had it as meat buns for the last two games. Then again, they seem to be putting random-ass changes at the drop of a hat now so what do I know? -
I think you buy them as DLC man. I know Terumi and Kokonoe icons come with their DLC at least.

The decision to exclude the Library was on ASW's part, possibly even from Mori himself. If anything, looking back I should have seen this coming considering the things that Mori usually says are outright lies. How naive of me... -

Oh, looking at it these are the same morons who made Extend into that craptacular mess. Well with people like that no fuckin' wonder BBCP's localization is a damn mess. Way to go ASW, way to fuckin' go. Took them 6 months to bring CP over here and how do they choose to do it? By hiring the same idiots that made Extend's localization into a joke. Because clearly these guys deserved a second chance with your money, right? It's little instances like this where I wish I were born with extra arms attached to me, because I don't have enough facepalms appropriate for the situation. -

Speaking of that, in the intro where Kagura introduces Homura, it is read as "Amano HokoZAKA" of all things. It's supposed to the character's own introduction and they can't even get THAT right. Oh what a delight. It explains why there's so much inconsistency here. So much for localizing on their own. What's the matter ASW, did Aksys ask for just one penny more than these guys? Geez, this is just sad. -
I think it's the teeth. Those chompers look like they could crack a diamond in half. By the way, looking at the combo video, it seems like she can only do 2 full combination attacks in a row, before finishing it off with something else. Like in the video she went from a PPK to a PPP immediately but she cannot go into say KKK right after it either. I could very well be wrong on this though.

"But sir, a simple google search will give us the most basi-" *Gets shot in the head* "And now we lack a translator. Clearly it was too difficult to have the Library after all". -

Luminos564 replied to Jotamide's topic in Zepp Museum
I'm sorry but this is where I have to put on my asshole hat and tell ASW to grow a pair. "Translation was too difficult"? Oh that's rich. But you had no trouble translating all that techno-babble used in the story (however incorrect they may be) or giving a damn in-depth tutorial for newcomers? Matter of fact, that's also a problem considering we got a ton of said techno-babble but no library to explain what that damn term could mean. "Fighting game terminology unique to Japan"? Last I checked, don't most fighting game sites use the Japanese fighting terms anyway? What's the problem if you simply translate its meaning? It isn't like players will fault you for not literally translating something like "okizeme" into the English equivalent. All you'd have had to do is explain what the term means and boom, you're golden. Ugh, fine ASW keep your lousy excuse to cover up the fact you just didn't wanna do it. But I hope you're also aware that if that's the ball you're going to toss, then the Vita version better not include the Library either otherwise someone might just have to come over to your studio and spit in your face. Good grief. -
Damn son, talk about a vicious Instant Kill. It's easily one of the most brutal in Xrd. Clearly, someone at ASW had a field day with it. Also, Day 1 and we've already got a combo vid. I'd say we're in good hands. Curiously, she seems to be able to swing both swords when released in the same motion. As seen at the 1:03 mark, she makes them both swing in a downward crescent arc.
-
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised. It also only costs 50% tension and fires almost immediately. I wonder if you could do sweep>Calvados for some shenanigans...? We are still in Day 1 for her. It'll probably become more solid after people get the hang of her. I did notice that, while released swords do offer up some control, there's also a down time before they can be swung again which gives the other characters plenty of time to rush in for the kill. Rammy-chan seems to lack a go-to defensive tool.

I wonder. I haven't heard anything overly negative in regards to the smaller roster and lack of other fan favorites. Maybe it's because Daisuke said that he would like to try and bring everyone back (if he can)? All I need to know is that Xrd only lacks Jam in it, but other than that, all my personal favorites are here so I can't hold it against the game. -

Sure sounds like it. I doubt anyone is complaining though . -
Nice. I very much look forward to this. I find that whenever venturing into unfamiliar character territory, it's best to have an experienced player providing the directions. Maybe it's just me, but I like the Day 1 stuff. Yeah sure, it's all a chaotic mess for now, but it is from that chaos that we'll get an established gameplan. Also, apparently Rammy-chan's cloak is alive as see by her brief intro. Creepy.
-
Hmm, looking at the video, it seems like Rammy-chan's S and HS are incredibly slow if they're not placed. I don't really have a side by side comparison, but they might be a few frames slower than even Potemkin's own. They do have great reach though. In a way, it kinda reminds me of Kliff's own respective S and HS except Rammy-chan doesn't look like she'll be busting her hip when doing them .
-
Aw, no teleport dash. Oh well, not a big deal. The combination attacks look pretty fun and there's enough variation to them to keep the opponent guessing and your options open. I'm imagining she'll focus on controlling space with released swords and apply pressure with the combination attacks. Course, this is just personal opinion and I look forward to exactly how she'll develop once players start figuring her out.

So then how come Celica knew Bloodedge beforehand? Matter of fact how could Jubei know the man from as far back as CT before even the events of CP took place? If Bloodedge did not exist until CP Ragna was sent back in time to the Dark War era via Rabbit, how can there be a Bloodedge at all in previous loops if they were not broken until loop #725? -

Wait a minute. Let's assume this is how it goes and that a CT Ragna was separated at one point from the Black Beast and he is the one Celica met. But then, where does CP Ragna fall under? I don't recall Celica ever mentioning there being 2 "Ragnas" running around in her time. CP Ragna is Bloodedge, that much I can accept. But if at the same time another Ragna was separated from the Black Beast, where did he go then? -
Holy crap. Remind me not to piss off any Shadow Mitsuru players. That was just plain scary. Granted it is off a Fatal Counter 5B, but considering it isn't all that hard to achieve with Mitsuru, I think we have a very good reason to fear her Shadow version.
