  1. I started working on that combo video. This is a lot more work than the one I did for Mitsuru because of all the options you have. To save time and prevent myself from going insane, I'll probably only put notations for the "optimal" combo for each starter. And I was thinking of putting all of the other options up on the screen at the same time. So if there were 4 options for a one more cancel combo, I would shrink the videos down so that they would all fit in screen and all pick up at the same point. It might sound stupid but I'm sure it'll turn out well. If it doesn't, then I'll probably just not do it.
  2. Does Dora even play Persona? Or is this a BB thing?
  3. And where can I find the matches you guys said you were watching?
  4. Where are you guys finding frame data? the wiki doesn't seem to have any of it for most characters.
  5. He said he was gonna go get a tetnis shot just in case soon. Good games guys. Was fun to play most of you again. Rube, your Slabrys is pretty scary.
  6. Justin, if you're willing to let me tag along, could you maybe just stop by my house and pick me up? I'm only like a mile and a half away. I'll gladly contribute some gas money and all that stuff. It's just that taking a bike isn't an option today, and I wont be able to leave soon enough if I'm walking.
  7. It was a lot of fun hanging out and getting a chance to play with a lot of you. It's a shame that I had to leave so early. Ruben, Sorry about only playing Mitsuru but that is what you asked for. I'll be sure to play Kanji against you at some point.
  8. Good games, bro. I don't understand why but I am fueled with rage against Yukiko almost all the time. Even when I perfect a scrubby one twice in a row, I find myself in a bad bad mood, I really don't know why. As far as the other kanji goes (Maze), he's actually not bad. He does some disrespectful stuff more than he needs to, but if it works then he's not doing poorly. I think for him you just need to never give him any credit. I completely understand your pain, though. Whenever I fight Gabe he just grabs at the stupidest times until it works. Obviously he feels that I'm not expecting any decent player to do that, so he just does it. Once again, I don't want to not give credit where it's do. He does what works, and that scares me :P Your Yukiko is pretty solid. I haven't got a clue why I'm more confident against her with kanji than Mitsuru, though. I guess I'm not used to anyone but teddy's normals beating Mitsuru's. GGs again Hope to see you at Justin's apartment thing-a-ma-jig-a-ma-bob-place. EDIT: I'm confident that I can find the apartment complex, but I might end up calling for instructions to the game room place.
  9. I don't know where you guys are finding the pics but I demand to see baby Bang!
  10. Ok sweet. I guess I remembered hearing that you never moved on from BBCS2. Thanks for saving me the trouble
  11. I'll be sure to bring a PS3 copy of extend when I come. I should make it around 6 and leave a few hours later, so if you guys want, I can just leave the game with Justin and pick it up when we go to Haz's. It will be fun to see us all suck at BB now. I played extend for one day a couple weeks ago and raged when Tager's DP and rolling action didn't work...
  12. This might be kind of an after-thought but would you guys like to play anything besides just Persona? I doubt anyone would be interested but I can bring a copy of Extend or Marvel (even though I suck at it). Not that I have a problem with persona. It's probably the only thing I would have a chance at anyway.
  13. I'm thinking we'll see the usual common characters like Ragna and Jin. For the new characters, probably a lot of Bullet because of her simplicity.
  14. I can bring a stick and copy of the game. I don't think I'll be able to fit a monitor in my backpack if I'll be riding my bike. It's looking like I should be able to go, I just wont be able to stay longer than a few hours.
  15. I remember hearing that they're trying to keep combos shorter in this installment. I wouldn't mind that too much, but if that's the case, we'll probably have to learn new combo structure for most characters. This could have the potential to completely scramble up tier lists, which would be pretty cool. If it seems like I have no clue what I'm talking about, it's probably because I don't. So excuse that....
  16. I'll see what I can do to make it. I'm assuming there's a bike rack available? "Justin you're the besssssssttttt. <3" - I second that statement
  17. That's a pretty dang good idea. Worth a shot at least.
  18. I agree with what AXIS said but I also feel that Osuna makes some excellent points. Kanji has a lot of depth, is very rewarding, and is just plain awesome. I mean, seriously, He beats people with a chair. And it's not just any chair, a folding chair. IT'S A CHAIR THAT FOLDS! It's pretty badass to beat someone to a pulp and then just take a seat afterwards. I was so into Extend that I never wanted this game to come out, but after watching some Kanji players, I immediately drove to the store and pre-ordered it. So he's basically the reason I bought this game. I feel that kanji has a lot of tools and has the ability to turn opponents into his plaything. That being said, I feel that he also kind of sucks in a lot of cases. When you face someone with plenty of experience against kanji, you typically haven't got a chance. Relying on someone doing the wrong thing is a pretty strong sign that he's not one of the better characters. I am not trying to make him seem bad or anything but when you deal with someone with good matchup experience, it's incredably difficult to gain any ground. That being said, it might actually be a bad thing if they gave him any better tools. I think it's a pretty bad idea to have a high or, god forbid, top tier grapple character in the first installment of a series. Think about it. He's got some amazing potential. Forget the matchups. Forget the tier lists. He get's heavily rewarded for every correct read. If you can get in the opponents head, their as good as dead. Think about how frustrating the game would be if arcsys screwed up and accidentally made Kanji anywhere near as good as Mitsuru. I think developers are at least a little bit worried about this sort of thing. It seems that, in a lot of cases, grapple characters start off on the bottom of the tier lists and slowly move their way up in later games. Tager seems like a good example too. I know I'm jumping around a lot here. Bottom line is that I love Kanji. We can discuss it and argue about how he should be. The fact is this. He's here, he's awesome, and he's here to stay.
  19. For me it depends where this would be at, not so much about when. At the very least I should be able to make it to Haz's, but I really want some time to just chill and play casuals.
  20. Makes some good sense there. While Kanji doesn't technically have "good" match-ups, there are some that are way easier than others. What I'm getting at is this. Kanji's match-ups are ass, like almost every one of them. But yet, somehow, he's always capable to doing well through good reads and patience. I consistently do well against characters like Mitsuru, Naoto, Yu, and on occasion, Yukiko and Liz. All of these are pretty horrible for Kanji on paper but as we all know, grapplers always have a good chance. By comparison, the few characters without zoning/spacing options feel easy. I think Akihiko and Chie are the main examples here, and maybe Labrys as well. Kanji usually needs to work incredibly hard to get close, but since these characters also need to be close, it certainly makes things easier. It's kind of stupid how you have to play against grapplers in general. It's like a whole different game. Heck, the only reason I learned how to play Tager was so that I could learn how I was supposed to deal with him. ^ There's nothing quite as sad as this. I compulsively type whenever I'm home and feeling shitty. Now excuse me while I go take some imitrex.
  21. I don't think it's impossible for a grappler to be top tier. They wont need to be effective everywhere, they just need exceptional options to help get in. Imagine how broken a charge attack to get close would be if it had projectile armor. Sounds like tager actually, not that he's broken or anything.
  22. I find most grapplers to be scary in general. They always have amazing potential, regardless of what the tier lists say. It makes me feel good about them making grapplers bottom tier to start out like they did with Tager in CT or kanji in Persona. Think how broken it would be to have a top tier grappler. GGs Synthesis. It was a lot of fun
  23. Same here, except any time is actually any time before 10ish Synthesis, we should play online sometime. I don't mind netplay, especially since all of you guys have an AZ connection. I've never had as many 4s as with you guys.
  24. I haven't gotten a chance to play against you yet. You play Aigis and Slabrys? Neato Against kanji I would recommend Aigis. She can keep him out very well with 2B and other things, which also happen to destroy his persona whenever he uses it (and trust me, he can't get easily without it). Just go for a persona break and then get into orgia and kick his ass. He can't really do anything then, even use his DP. We should play at Haz's or something next time, if you can make it. I was pretty bummed that I didn't have the chance to play many people outside of the tourney last time. EDIT I guess I'll gave to try and make it to one of the casuals.
  25. I don't have any GG experience, so I can't contribute anything to the conversation other than "That game looks kewl, dood". Kanji's DP is very good and can help turn things around for him, but in general it's useless against anyone with match-up experience. Typical grappler stuff in that respect. It's hitbox is just his body, so if you get hit, you were either pressing too many button's or he just timed it well. And yes! It's annoying as fuck that it lasts so long, but that only means it's easier to punish on reaction. It gives you time to use a persona attack as bait and recover to use your strongest fatal (in most cases). It's also pretty damn easy to tell when you can punish it. I don't know about you, but I have a damned hard time punishing Yosuke's sometime. I just can't tell just from the animation. You're all right, kanji's DP is absolute bullshit in a lot of cases but it's so easy to go around. Some of it's real strength lies with the fact that he just has it as an option, even if he never uses it (but most Kanji's will use it... a lot)
