  1. OD Raid used to look a lot more scary back in Loketest land, back then it was basically OD Cancel that canceled your blockstun gave you invuln that could link into a distortion reversal all while leaving you with a moderate chunk of OD time to play with afterwords. Even now the only thing that's changed is that you experience 16 frames (invincible) recovery, and the OD time you get after has been severely shortened. I do see matches stolen by OD Raid here and there, and while it is a mechanic I'm made uncomfortable by, I'm thankful that I won't have to deal with loketest OD Raid
  2. GGs my room!! I feel like I'm back to around 95% of where I was before UNIEL, and I feel as if I could go to 130% before plateauing again! I think losing pink rank#27 was what brought me back into it, and I managed to snap myself out of it and win myself pink rank #28. I'll miss you #27, we went through a lot together. #28 we have a bright future ahead of us.
  3. Ragna's stop run up DP-ing on me pretty quick once I break out the run up led ley. You think the Rapid cancel is your friend Ragna? AHAHAHAHAHAHA!! WHERE'S YOUR RAPID CANCEL NOW!? Edit: But really run up DP is a hard call with some serious commitment. A whiff means a heavy punish, a block means 50% gauge loss and unless you spend the whole farm on it, it's usually low reward too. I'm sure there's better ways to work around it than doing a hard call right back like I'm prone to do by led leying or backdashing or using a move with even bigger invuln right before their actives come out. (However I love keeping momentum on my side a little too much so I can't help myself. I'm working on that.) If it's working consistently for them, it means they've prolly put some good thought into the gamble before proceeding with it.
  4. workin' fine for me. Joke endings look fun. lol'd when they advertised mode by mode. Whoa, check out these features, VS mode? oh snap! get hype! All jokes aside vs mode rematch was shown off. Looks quickish. Me likey. Celica and Rachel are in toutorial mode now. Rooms look cool too. Like the new theme. Sad that there's no teaser for an additional new character, but c'est la vie.
  5. I usually treat Oki against an Arakune with curse as "Okay how can I best run his curse gauge" which often leads me to one of four things. A: putting myself 75% of the screen away and attempting locking down/interfering with an Ignis. This makes it so he can't simply Teleport in by air backdashing off the screen then locking me down because both of his air backdashes won't reach the end of the screen. and it also means that he has to try to approach me like the slug he is and waste curse all the while. B: going traditional and trying to mix him up in the hopes he doesn't punish it with bugs. C: Reset him. He can have his curse mode in the afterlife. or D: Using Duo Bios and not giving a crap. No amount of bugs will save you from a wife's scorn. With hazama I'd try to find a location to bully him from where his bugs can't find me.
  6. Anything's trivial when you don't put much thought into it. For instance Relius lost the jump cancel on 3C Block/Hit, and got a jump cancel in 2C Block/Hit. At a glance they seem to cancel one another out, but that is merely at a glance. Take it a layer deeper and you'll see that the way many combo and block strings operate have completely changed. 2C has a slightly shorter effective range than 3C as it is slower and slightly shorter. This means fewer moves can be used before using your jump cancelable normal to cycle pressure or end it safely. You will also be more prone to falling for barrier pushback and having to wait on the hefty recovery of 2C or else incur further Ignis cost to continue pressure. The absence of 3C's jump cancel also makes the auto confirm string 5B>3C>jump+6D>air normal cease to function, which means Relius becomes more reaction demanding in his confirms or else will have to sacrifice additional Ignis meter or damage. Taken even deeper, the addition of 2C jump cancel increases overall damage, effectively edging out 6B and its horrid P2, and allowing for useful chains like 2C>TKj.236C which increases damage potential in the corner while keeping Ignis cost relatively low. 3C's absence of jump cancel eliminates safe-jump oki, which eliminates one DP safe option of locking down and makes de-summoning and maintaining advantage a slightly more difficult task. These changes when taken into account on their own would indecate that Relius is going from a character who overwhelms the opponent with intense pressure and oki getting many smaller damaging confirms to one that gets fewer confirms but can make them count for more. And that's just one fraction of one change. (and is by no means the whole picture, but just one example of how nerfs and buffs are deep stuff. My opinion of him in 2.0 is not based soley on this, and with all changes taken into account, I think Rel's pressure and oki has gotten more intense with an overall increase in damage and execution demands, however he is a good bit more reliant on Ignis to do his chores.)
  7. Mreh, I've gotten some mileage outta BB. And I'm more against buying a PS4 that makes you pay for internet you're already paying for. I think when BB stops being worth it for me I'll stop buying it. For filthy casuals like me BB is simply good entertainment, and good entertainment's worth is up to the individual. If you don't think CPE is worth the 40~50 dollars, don't pay 40~50 dollars for it. gameshare it with some kind soul, or split the bill with another, wait for the price to decline, or else skip out on it completely. That's the bottom line. Beyond advice there's really no point in discussing it here. If you're looking for a reason to buy it, consult people individually in PMs or else do some deep introspection.
  8. Actually I remember a ton of people here talking down to me and other like-minded individuals near the beginning of CP1.0 for saying Koko looked super unbalanced. That pretty much continued up until that "2A>death vid" surfaced, and then even a little bit afterword. I can't forget that, because I ended up doubting myself for it... But who wants to talk about ancient stuff like that? That horse was beaten to death, resurrected with forbidden majiks, then beaten again. Let's not talk about that. Let's talk about the current issues eh? Over all I'm inclined to agree with Dreiko for whatever that's worth. I mean, it's sad and all that you don't think it's worth buying, but passed that, what are you even doing here amidst the discussion of a game that you will never own? I mean you're perfectly within your right for doing so as long as the mods allow it, and I sure won't complain, but isn't it a little odd to be in a topic that is no longer relevant to you? I have a very helpful rule rule that I won't complain about something without a solution in mind. It helps me not feel idle or powerless when I'm discontented. That said, isn't there a better place to post such stuff than a topic discussing the game? Like a twitter account or something? Voicing you abhorrence of Extend like updates here won't change a thing, not a soul here has much of a connection to the marketing executives behind the decision, but if you get vocal enough elsewhere you may have an impact. Not to dash your hopes completely Heavymetal, but there will probably be no free update. I don't like to outright declare something impossible, so I'll just say that it is extra-extremely unlikely at this point in time. I can't fault you for having faith tho, I'm still holding out on those additional characters that will prolly not come. I don't think BB will die though, CPE looks fun to me. Well that's my two cents on all of this. In non-tangental news, a close US release is a very welcome thing to me. Looking forward to a summer release.
  9. He can be a headache to play, but if you can confuse your enemies, he's super effective.
  10. That's cold mAc, kick a man while he's down. Tao's always been my slightly neglected sub since day one, she's in my sig for Pete's sake. TBH, with the skills I bring to the table the Tao v Haku mu is in Haku's favor.
  11. GGs to everyone I played today. I'm making a mental note to never take a hiatus from BB again. This return was a painful one. How do people even get good in two games at once? I took two steps forward in UNIEL and took fifty steps backwords in BB. I can't even combo with Tao offline now... T_T
  12. My mix-up is usually composed of [2A>5B>pressure tricks / grab attempt / Bait DPs and the like] My Tao /isn't/ great, I've made that crystal clear in my posts, what I've posted here is the benefits of re-standing in general, and in my EXP I've been able to get by with a few good reads. It's not harmful to know a couple situations to put an opponent in as well as how to navigate them properly, so learning encore oki isn't a bad thing per se, even if it is inferior. I could stand to learn ways to set up better oki, if you are willing to impart said knowledge.
  13. I mix in 66C, dash>block/5A, and Backdash>air Orb B>[air backdash>assault>214A/B]/[fastfall]/air backdash>fastfall/214A/214B] But I'm terrible, so you should do something better than that.
  14. I tend to go for meter instead of damage. Someone I look up to told me: "There is little difference between an opponent's options when they have 100%HP~40%HP compared to the difference in options you receive when your gauge is 50% or more. Damage only comes into play when you can kill them or put them in jeopardy, otherwise you need resources for pressure oki and neutral. If you can land them somewhere in the zone of 30%~1%HP Meter starts becoming less important than damage, because their lack of HP starts affecting their options more than your lack of gauge is affecting yours." As for how to think about meter management, think of it like a budget. With meter you can buy mix-up, damage, defenseive tools, and Messenga call-outs. All of these tools are wonderful, and it's up to you to be a responsible buyer and get what you need to take a win. Meter is there to be spent, especially with Terumi. On one hand 100% meter gives you access to two rapids for mix-up or a heavy damage confirm should you land a hit otherwise, on the other hand every bit of meter that you don't get when you already have 100% can be counted as meter lost. There are good points to hoarding and good points to spending, and your task is to strike that balance in a way that wins you the match (or at least gives you an advantage) Ultimately it's up to you how you spend it, and different situations and match-ups will call for different spending decisions. You can observe that an opponent is harder to open up because they don't fall for frame traps, tick throws, or get hit by tricks in neutral, you can then focus your meter spending on mix-up (I.E. 5C(1) rapids and the like) You will make a good portion of said meter back in the proceeding combo and the following oki and pressure string so spending this way is sensible. you gotta spend money to make money. Likewise if your opponent is prone to falling for pressure traps hoarding meter would make more sense because off a fatal 6B you can blitz them for half their health and take the match. It's important to keep an eye on their HP, because if you blow your burst and meter on a confirm that won't kill you might regret it when you want to go for that counter assault or DP later. Keeping your meter in the 40~50% range unless I can kill is generally what I do with Relius, and I think the same principle applies to Terumi. At 40% gauge, you're only a stones throw from getting a counter assault or DP, and if you do land a confirm you'll get all the meter from it that you wouldn't were you at 100% You can of course break the rules you set for yourself if you have a good reason to think your next read on them is accurate and will lead to them getting hit. Gambles /do/ sometimes pay off big and sometimes you gotta trust yourself and take the leap.
  15. It's much better than block>burst ever was for him, sending people fullscreen generally isn't his idea of fun.
  16. It looks like it's there to help steal rounds. Stuff like Arakune's ODR giving curse mode can completely change momentum, and Hazama/Tager using ODR during the start-up of a move to make it whiff into 5K+ stuff from powered up distortions, which is a scary thought and something that'll have to be accounted for. They still experience 16 frames of recovery in OD raid, so you might be able to do some pressure strings without worry. As for opinions, it think it still needs to be fine tuned. It's a mechanic that favors some characters more heavily for certain. For Relius it might be useful if you suddenly have to block and you don't want Ignis to die. That's my analysis of the matter anyhow.
  17. That's the word! Thanks! Gahh that was on the tip of my tongue.
  18. Not really the place to talk about it so let this be the last post outside of Private Messages. (The mods might have a stroke if we don't get back on topic soon.) Yes UNIEL is doing good. The western release happened 4 days ago so the online is a boomin'. It's very different from BB IMO, much more footsies, lots of hard commitment, a lot less jumping, many many grabs. A very different meta but still very fun I think.
  19. If were talkin' Non-OD and Fatal 2[C] then I have one more combo that I use: FC2[C]>6[C]>5A+B>6C>236CC>neutral jump>j.4D~A (first hit whiffs second hits)>5[C]>6C>4D6~B>6C>236AAA>5D~A>6C>(Optional OD Cancel)>236236D [6475DMG/-60HT] without the OD cancel at the end 6955DMG with the OD FC2[C]>6[C]>5A+B>236CC>j.4D~A>5[C]>6C>4D6~B>6C>236AAA>5D~A>236C~B id the non distortion version where you take out the bolded 6C from the old one to assure re-stand [5529DMG/-10HT] If you catch yourself doing the distortion ender version, when you don't have the meter you can correct it by deleting the 5[C] instead, but you lose about 500 damage. =(
  20. I don't know what I'll do if it's actually good... I've come to expect a certain amount of Terumi QUALITY in my BB animations. I hope the person choreographing (for lack of a better word) the cutscenes remains the same, because without the visionary who gave us Relius standing in the middle of Ragna and Hazama's fight like a lost tourist then getting abducted by aliens in the CSE opening, I don't think I can christen this a proper BB game.
  21. So where do we go for our Seth footage? is there anything like the video threads in the GG BB and P4U2 forums? I need to download me a good Seth soon. P=
  22. Well really I only know stuff with meter that reaches 5K. Crush trigger does good things to Tao's Damage when done early in a combo, so CH2C>5A+B is never a bad idea, especially as you can get a lot of meter back and 5A+B>236CC works anywhere. CH2C>5A+B>236CC>j.2D~B>5[C]>6C>4D6~B>6C>236AAA>5D~A>236C~B works for 5K when you're around 30% of the screen away from the corner or closer. CH2C>6[C]>214D>j.2D~B>2C>5[C]>j.236BB>j.D~A>j.4D~A>6C>4D6~B>6C>236AA>5D~A>6C>236C~B does like 4.2K midscreen too ch2C>6[C]>214D>j.2D~B>2C>5[C]>j.236BB>j.D~A>j.4D~A>6C>4D6~A>6C>236CC>5D~A>6C>236236D will get you 5K though for fullscreen carry you can do CH2C>6[C]>214D>j.2D~B>2C>5[C]>j.236BB>j.D~A>j.4D~6>j.D>5D~B>6C>214D>j.B for 3.8K or end it with 5D~B>6C>OD>236236D for 5K I'm sure there's better stuff out there, including OD combos, but Iunno. much
  23. I think I can transcribe what he's doing into notation but I could be off base... I'll try. 0:01~0:06: airdash>j.B(2)>j.214AB>j.236D [sideswap reset] 236A>B>jump>j.B(1)>j.C(1)>662B(1)>neutral jump>j.C(2)>double jump>dj.B(1)>dj.C(2)>dj.214A>A [607+2535=3142DMG/-24SP] 0:07~0:10: airdash>j.B(2)>j.214AB>j.236CD [throw reset] [607+1400=2007DMG/-50SP] (Add on what you do after throws to this) 0:10~0:18: 2C>delay>close to the ground j.214AB [j.236A instant overhead reset]>2A>5B(2)>2B(2)>5C>236B>B>C>236A>A>jump cancel>j.C(2)>j.214A>A [857+3394=4251DMG/-23SP] 0:18~0:25: Airturn~airbackdash>cross-up j.B(1)>j.214AB [j.236A instant overhead reset]>2A>5B(2)>2B(2)>5C>236B>B>C>236A>A>jump cancel>j.C(2)>j.214A>A [367+3394=3761DMG/-23SP] 0:25~0:35: (on crouch) 5AAA>j.214AB>j.236AB(whiff) [sideswap reset] 5B(2)>2B(2)>5C>236B>B>C>236A>A>jump cancel>j.C(2)>j.214A>A>214214A [716+4112=4828DMG/-98SP] 0:35~End: (corner) Airturn~airbackdash>j.B(1)>j.214AB [j.236A instant overhead reset]>214214A or B (Can't tell)>OMB>2C>5C>5B(1)>2B(2)>2A+B>236B>B>C>214A>back jump>j.C(2)>j.214A>A [367+5196=5563DMG/-73SP] I can't help but think that in a game where we could get j.214AB late combo on standing, or in a game without omni-directional 1 button DPs So would be insanely strong.
  24. Don't swat flying cats, fish for them. Any fisherman will tell you you need the proper bait to reel them in. Be patient, get in the fish's mind and tantalize it until it can no longer refuse your invitation and then take all of its HP. Also, once they're hooked, don't let them go. Hope you find my mixed metaphor useful.
  25. Tager does, in his home country of Russia, get the lag power-up. But Lag will only take you so far, especially when you limit yourself with stylish. 'Sides, since the snow in snow town was nerfed, it hasn't been that bad. Some say it's one of the better ones now. I think Halloween might be the new anti-netplay stage, or maybe fetal movement. I know the DLC stages have more lag in general so the real worst stage is probably among those. Anyway you're soul can still be saved up until the point where you load 10 youtube vids of THIS midmatch as Tager in a laggy stage. Then you're a lost cause.
