This matchup is hell for Carl. IMO it's a 3-7 matchup (possibly 2-8) for Carl because he literally can't do shit once she gets her Steins up and running, and Nirvana isn't really much of a help here (especially with the lasers/Mu's normals just owning anything she does and hitting Carl). Plus it doesn't help that Mu's normals are better than Carl's and can lead to a small combo that doesn't do much damage (unless in the corner), but sends him across the screen which gives her time to set up her laser shit. And let's not mention she breaks Guard Primers a little too easily, and with Carl only having 4 GP, yeah this matchup sucks. Carl's only saving grace against her is that she has low health too, so 1 or 2 loops into resets can end the round for you if you do manage to get in and set up Nirvana correctly. Not to mention she has a tall standing hitbox so you can do fancy 6B, j.B,j.C,j.B combos on her which hurts like hell. So if you can get lucky in the beginning of the round before she sets up her Steins, you may have a chance. Otherwise, the match is going to suck. Shoutouts to pulsr for kicking my face in with Mu one too many times.

After playing some long sets versus pulsr's Mu with Carl, I can say that this matchup is pretty much in Mu's favor since Carl will have a hard time trying to get in. Stein lasers pretty much keep Nirvana on lockdown, so Carl has to try to solo it out on trying to get in on her, and Mu's great speed along with good normals (and Stein lasers as well) make this matchup hell for Carl, as he'll likely spend about 90% of the match jumping forward while blocking. Let's not forget that Carl is one of the few characters with the least amount of Guard Primers (4), so he's easy Guard Crush bait for Mu as well (i.e. make him block Steins then start GP jacking). And in the event he does manage to get in, Mu has a DP-type move to make Carl second-guess himself while trying to start a Nirvana string (because if he does eat that DP, he goes flying across the screen, making him do all that work for naught). If I were to put this matchup in numbers, I'd say it's probably 7-3 Mu, with the only saving grace for Carl is he can do good solo damage to Mu due to her tall standing hitbox and below average stamina, but that obviously would require him to get in.

Uh, numerous qualifiers are running until like the end of July or something. There's still a bajillion qualifiers for him to enter, which mean there's still a lot of spots open...

It's not free if you have to use a computer/laptop to use it. Besides, back in my day we used pen and paper brackets. Plus, I dispute the notion that Tio originated from Smash. And we already were using bracket programs like Tournament Maker before Tio showed up...

I don't know why people are all worried about going to Vegas while underaged. It's not like we're going to a titty bar or something...

BBCS is side tourney status at Evo. There's no telling if the console port will even be arcade perfect, and even if it is, a release date a week before Evo is too close for it to be considered a main game. However, there will most definitely be a side tourney at Evo, with probably special perks like top 4 get to play on the big screen or something. Besides, BBCT was a side tourney at last year's Evo and it still managed to draw almost 200 entrants...

Ok, fair enough. Your tourney, your rules. It was just a suggestion for which game to replace SF4 since I know it can bring in numbers to help you break even on how much it costs to rent out that room, especially when other tourneys already have a stranglehold on the Socal SF4 scene...

You'd be surprised to see which Tekken players also play a little bit of Blazblue. Also, the reason why you don't see BB players at Super Arcade is because their machine is trash, and it's also an outdated version (lol CT). And obviously AI doesn't have a Tekken machine. As for Tekken tourneys, we all gotta start somewhere, and with Evo coming up along with a disturbing lack of console Tekken tourneys in a centralized area (FFA is just too damn far from everyone), I'm confident people will turn out for this one since it's held relatively close to Super/Vid94, and is on consoles so pad warriors can get their game on.

Instead of SF4, add Tekken 6, imo. And ditto on MBAA. Oh, and let's do an interesting GG tourney called "reverse main" in addition to the usual regular format for shits and giggles. Basically you have to use your opponent's main character (usually a character they've been using in the majority of past tourneys) instead of your own when you play against them. For example, first round is me vs. TheBiter, where TheBiter has to use I-No and I have to use Order Sol. Winner moves on to 2nd round, where, let's say, Stormlocke is waiting. Stormlocke has to use the winner's character while the winner has to use Robo Ky. Repeat till we have a winner. What do you think?

Good shit at the tourney. Gives me an incentive to actually start practicing Guilty Gear again.
