SNK has filled/renewed quite a bit of trademarks lately, I meant they recent did "KOF", "King of Fighters", and now with "Maximum Impact" I think they're covering their bases as the new project is likely in a place where it is easily malleable to their needs at this point. It might also hint at the possibility they are indeed co-developing a spin-off and flagship title. Heck, it might just be for redistribution, but until we get more solid information, enjoy The King of MOBAs '98! Starring Kyo, Iori, and Athena.

http://youtu.be/p7Cs4L1JALY A Pokemon fighting game developed by the Tekken team over at Bamco? Is this reality lol Currently only planned for arcades, but given this has an official English trailer and the immense marketability of the franchise, a console release (WiiU most likely) is imminent.

New Fighting Game Based On Shining Series
SolxBaiken replied to Malcopunch's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Damn, was too busy playing XIV to post about this lol but yeah, new location testing and main visual, however, at least based on the previous PV's teaser, I don't think we're looking at the full cast. The only surprise was Isaac, who [to the best of my knowledge] was not hinted at all. -
Hmm, that's pretty cool, though I wish they stated what was in the Alpha. Like, I doubt we'll see any of the new characters, will probably a few system and cosmetic changes. But the wording implies we'll see the full release before the year lets out .o.

Same situations as PS3s: Do PS4 games have regional locks? In general, neither digital nor disc-based games will be region locked, but PlayStation recommends that all users purchase games at the region of their residence to guarantee the best overall experience and customer service. In certain instances, a software publisher may choose to region lock a game title for specific reasons, but Sony Computer Entertainment expects these instances to be uncommon. via PS4 FAQ -

The game modes are pretty straight forward and pretty much offer nothing we already don't know: Rank match is pretty much setup how it is in CP, where you can participate in offline modes while you queue up. Tutorial lets you pick between either Sol or Sin as your instructor, both fully voiced. Profile looks like it will be your overall stat tracker, it would be a wish to have something as detailed as DoA 5 but I'm hoping for at least UNiB quality with the breakdown of your matchup frequency. -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

Fun fact: Daisuke Ishiwatari actually helped a lot with the early concepts of many of the original BlazBlue cast, but he is not listed as a character designer. #themoreyouknow Really though, it just reeks of catering to a modern age, which is sad but in these times [particularly for that region, seriously, do you guys understand how brutal the entertainment medium in Japan is; particularly for anime, manga, and things that share the aesthetic] it is somewhat necessary. I'll take a little bit of compromise over flat out pandering [honestly I expected that if a new GG was ever made EVERYTHING would be moecchi x10] -
Those listings specially stated they were for pachislot titles, this listing is far more direct than any other, and the specifically state in all the applicable jobs that they are looking for people with experience developing on consumer consoles [listing PS3/4, 360, and X1].

Huh . . . So apparently Level Up's weekly, The Runback, will be playing and streaming Yatagarasu . . . but the interesting thing is, it won't be 4.3 but the upcoming Attack on Cataclysm! It's difficult to gauge progress from what little they show us, but it was looking pretty rough at EVO, so I dunno, this seems quite shocking. Maybe they'll update it throughout its run.

What if this "El" is Erica Bartholomew, President of A Country [at least, last time we checked, since she, and really the nation as a whole, was only touched upon in the novel Butterfly and Her Gale. She was 17 at the time of those events] Sol allegedly holds strong animosity towards her, and A Country has Gear Facilities, one of which Dr. Paradigm was born in [Ohio]. Also Ky tried to gather allies for the threat of Ramlethal, so maybe she has come representing her country. Also she has ties to Zepp, the Assassin's Guild, and Chipp. I would feel A LOT better about the addition of this seemingly random, highly moecchi character if this were the case, especially since it makes the most sense from what little we know. Then again, rhyme and reason aren;t exactly the bread and butter of Eastern writers . . .

Again, we don't know if this new 3D KoF is a main entry title, it could just be a spin-off like the Maximum Impact series that is there to tide us over, retrieve fresh revenue, and allow more time for the 2D sprite making. Also keep in mind, XII and XIII's sprites ALREADY use 3D models in their construction, similar to how BlazBlue does their sprites, so I don't view them as "starting from scratch". Hells know SNK doesn't have the kind of bank to make careless risks. Also, it's not like SNK reused sprites because they were lazy, it was just most cost effective with a yearly generated series [on top of the numerous other titles they produced at the time], KoF introduced more original character than they ever had to, and as newer characters were made their sprites began to clash with the older ones [both points apply particularly strong to NEST arc]. Also, from the looks of the recruitment page, they are looking to do not just a PS3/360 but also PS4/X1.
-
Again, what they're recruiting for would be over qualified for pachislot game, not to mention specifically seeking people who have worked on consoles. Also SNK has been pretty transparent on labeling positions for pachislot games, but there is no indication at all regarding as anything less than a real game. What interest me is the focus on middleware programmers, do you think they'll be using an Unreal Engine as well? Maybe they turned to Capcom and will be using MT Frameworks
-
Maximum Impact 2 had its flaws but it was a solid entry, especially considering the crapfest the original was, and Regulation A just sold me even further on another installment, so I would open Maximum Impact 3 with open arms. Stylish Arts felt like the happy medium of traditional 2D and 3D sensibilities. At the very least I wouldn't want to lose any of the MI series original characters, and since it was essentially a Garou sequel, we got to see Rock! It's possible, but highly unlikely, given that they are looking for console programmers and people adept with middleware software; two things you don't particularly need with a pachislot game, especially an unannounced one that would most likely be almost exclusively arcade bound. But . . . they were used in XII too . . . As much as I enjoy the general aesthetic of XII and XIII's sprites, they sounded very taxing and time consuming. That's not to say 3D will magically be better, but I think it will be easier to work with, especially considering the sprites for XII and XIII had 3D models anyways, they're just going to refine rather than convert. Again though, this may just be a "filler" game, and could be MI3 while they work on XIV in the background, shortening the gap in their release periods.

PS4 only special edition? . . . your move Aksys . . . -
Siliconera: My body has been ready for this . . . The question is: will this be a continuation of the main game (XIV) or the spin-off (Maximum Impact 3)? Considering that the producer for XII and XIII returned and has been working at SNK for awhile now, the former is most likely, however I've been aching for a new MI. Hopefully they'll at least be as creative with the roster as the MI series was, allowing people that would never see the light of day in a traditional KoF (Fio, Hanzo--even if he was "clone--, Richard) as well as the [even more unorthodox] new characters. Of course there are plenty of old characters I'd love to see return . . . but we all know of a few who are practically a shoe-in . . .

So basically; Lupinus is Spencer [MvC3] lol and not sure about Ray [Fist gauge? It built up as he got hit, just like normal meter, hmmm] but he seems to be a big hulking bruiser with a few command/strike throws, so perhaps another type of grappler. Also noticed that Cerberus now has 3 bulets [nice!] Also, also, not a fan of [further] smutting up Lupinus design for combat, but at least the transition of her suit makes more sense than most others. Hmmm, stun build up seems A LOT less crazy, particularly during combos. Celia II [and Kai?] has an angled, anti-air GETTA BEAM!! Ok, they cut to Ray stuff, he's basically Miguel [Tekken] lolol, his gauge is used for follow ups during his stance, taking up gauge for attacks and filling on it's own after exiting the stance after a certain period. It's interesting since he can't seem to build it up beyond the maximum 1st [blue] stock, but getting hit allows him to build a 2nd [orange] stock. His lvl 3 is a counter with the start up looking like him just walking forward, but there appear to be afterimages, no super flash until hit. Catherine has a new note trap [actually is probably old, I just don't remember lol]; in general, it seems like all of the returning characters' new tools have some nice utility. Ray has 2 counter supers it looks like [or else his lvl 1 just has a really long delay] but his lvl one doesn't need a hit to activate, seems it sets off on its own [Ray's lvl 1 attack isn't a counter, but it has indefinite armor until the strike, so probably dangerous to throw out wildly, since he looks pretty vulnerable. Also it seems he has an evasion [probably gets beat by lows though] in his stance. He has A LOT of options from his stance, and his normals are pretty nice too [now that complex tree makes a bit more sense lol but not really lolol] I didn't touch Kudlak, but did he always have an install super that gave him 3 guard cancel warps? o.o Ok, looking at the change logs, only new thing he got was 22+K now having an EX version.

Just couldn't keep it simple huh? Well the new changes look interesting from a glance, can't wait to see the game in action *crosses fingers so tightly that they risk breaking in hopes of a console re-release/update8

Yeah, all play rooms return from CP, but now with a better queuing system since you can have people "line up" at particular cabinets or wait "outside". I'm interested in the little movie reel icon in the parameter settings, perhaps a "quick" style option that skips intro/outro scenes, and perhaps even minimizes character select (this used to be a huge feature of fighters pre-PS2 era, not quite sure why it faded away, then again probably getting my hopes up lol) Sad that it looks like Mission mode is the now obligatory combo challenge, I miss the XX match challenges, especially with AC allowing you to freely pick your character. Also somewhat disappointed [assuming] that Story mode looks like it might go the plain visual novel route, just using stock models instead of illustrations (though if they have limited animation for position shifts, that'd be cool . . .) for a bulk of the narrative. Still no solid date ; -; my body is beyond ready . . . -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
SolxBaiken replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
No, that only applies to Hilda, and that's only so they can show off her two-tone design better [much like Gil in Street Fighter III], also they aren't making two separate sprites, just programming it so that the colors on each side of her dress flip appropriately. Again, with Xrd, they can make sprites react naturally to being on different sides, but they are choosing not to, this is for the sake of consistency and ensuring that the "best quality" of the model is always shown. The new Smash Bros. game also made this change, where all the older games just had the models react normally, in the 3DS/Wii U iteration all the models will be mirrored. -

It's not that they can't make non-mirroring sprites, they just choose not to; even on the things that don't matter like Sin's eye patch. -
