  1. [i think] BB is an interesting case, with each major entry (CT, CS, CP) playing radically different from one another as opposed to GG where from X onwards, everything has been more homogenous and additive rather than supplemental. Which is why Xrd is such an intriguing development, they have numerous tests, proven methods, and who knows how many new ideas to draw from. So it will be interesting to see how they go about things this time around, especially when you consider they still want to make a new IP series.
  2. The quality of BB's anime is irrelevant. I feel for it the same way I feel for P4's anime, it's a story I'm already too familiar with and at the end of the day it won't amount to much more than that. If all we're getting is Calamity Trigger: The Animation [now featuring more fan service] it won't mean a heck of alot to me. Now if we got extended media-esque content with new revelations and secrets, then there'd be cause for alarm and interest. But let's fact it, this is just to advance the profitability of BB by advancing its marketing appeal. And after 2 games (CT, CTR), a manga (Chemical Complex), and 2 novels, I am burned out on CT's events [which admittedly aren't even all that interesting considering things that happen before and after it]. But hey, that's just my opinion and we all know how much that amounts to = w=
  3. Huh...interesting... Did Azrael take Bang's place as resident punching bag!?
  4. I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to say... Sure it's "cheaper and quicker" [which itself is still a gross over simplification] to produce those types of FMVs but I highly doubt Arc will blow that production value in the arcade release, the "story mode" there will probably be simple and effective like any other arcade fighter. Who knows how they plan on telling the consumer story, but I think it's pretty safe to say they'll at least have a much FMVs as animated sequences were present in BB [which, isn't alot, so it's not like that's a high goal ] Also FMV, CG cinematic, call it what you will but it's obvious those sequences are pre-rendered as opposed to the game's primary engine. And perhaps they will use alot of real-time cinematics, doesn't mean they won't use [the admittedly gorgeous] FMV/CG sequences.
  5. If there were FMVs like what we saw at the end of the reveal trailer I think there are 2 rather safe assumptions that can be made: - Frequency will probably [at least] be on the level of animated sequences in BB's story modes - The Unreal Engine could've been requisitioned for this exact reason, to reduce the cost of making these sequences [as everything could be produced easier "in house"] and allow for greater creative control. Truth is though, we probably won't be seeing much of that until a consumer ver, at most we could see FMVs for arcade endings [which would be awesome] Alright then, let me put this as simple as possible then: [i think] AC+['s story mode] was trash, I'm fine with them referencing/remaking threads from it so long as they do a better job with exposition, because it was horrendous in AC+.
  6. Thank you, lol. 2 words that should never share the same paragraph... Also I'm not saying AC+ is not canon, but like with any series [especially those dabbling with multiple endings in each entry] you won't know what sticks until the next installment. I personally think Arc could do themselves a favor for writing Xrd as a proper continuation over XX instead of going off of AC+. And again, I don't think all the ideas are bad in AC+, so if they re-introduce threads from it I wouldn't mind, so long as they do better jobs with the pacing and flow of any such events. But yeah, this is all moot until Xrd exists in a more tangible state [arcade release] and finally gets home plans into circulation lol
  7. You can't understand, so instead of reaching out, you insult and assume lol. My distaste for AC+'s story has NOTHING to do with "headcanon wishes" as you call it. The simple fact is [i found] AC+ to be a contrived piece of turd. With writing and logic that felt like something I'd see in lesser narrative fighters like Street Fighter, not the quality that Arc stumpled to establish in [the excellent] X+ and [pretty good] XX, with a bunch of endings that either didn't alter the prior status quo in any [significant] way, or worst of all just didn't make all that much sense. Let's examine Baiken; you get 1 ending where she becomes a deranged psycho killer because...because...JUST BECAUSE! There's no real buildup or satisfactory explanation and it reeks of something that was thought up as the final draft for the script was due in 5 minutes. Next we have her other ending where she travels with Anji to...to...do the thing she was already doing [pursue That Man], this is another sloppy plot line that isn't so much "bad" as it is "disappointing". I mean prior to this, at the end of XX Anji became the latest minion for That Man, this could've lead to an infinitely more interesting character arc but instead we get a resolution with about as much fizzle as week old flat soda. That Man despite being a key figure and unified antagonist for the series is a HUGE enigma, especially when you consider we don't know about this full inner circle STILL [i-No, Raven, and a still unidentified 3rd member]. Now don't get me wrong, AC+ has SOME cool possibilities [i would totally entertain the unholy union of Baiken, Chipp, and Venom] but as a whole the story was a colossal turd. Also if you bothered to interpret the rest of my original comment, I was actually opened to essentially "starting over" which is basically what Overture did by going back to the original timeline. The X-verse is very twisted and mangled, and with a now more lore focused Arc and with it being so long since, I think this is a good point to do a "refresher" course of sorts by glossing over the major past points while pursuing a new direction, without trying to make it ll work. At the end of the day, I don't care what they do, I'll still play it and [hopefully] enjoy it, but just because of that doesn't mean I'm not going to call turds when I see them. But hey, that's just my opinion, and we all know how those work online!
  8. I'm pretty sure that's an ad for the new novel series, as the entirety of CT is covered in the 1st volume and [if I remember correctly] CS was teased at the end [which, interestingly enough, CS has YET to be covered in extended media]
  9. Why... Would anyone want any of the AC+ story to be canon? D: I'd rather take Judgment being the base over AC+ lol Just start over off of things from XX, because that's where shit mattered the most as far as the story is concerned. Or hell just follow off of Overture (since a GG3 doesn't seem likely any time soon) and mesh these 2 timelines together.
  10. You don't watch enough Kasumi and Hayabusa if you truly feel like she's her own character, she's basically a Tekken-esque clone. She'll probably have a unique move here or there and different frame data on shared ones, but I just think they wasted the slot on a publicity stunt rather than making a truly unique character (which is esspecially bad when you consider that EVERYONE -thus far- is a returning character, and VF characters hardly count as "new" as all they do is facelift em from their game). In short; Momiji should've stayed in Ninja Gaiden, where she has her unique naginata .v.
  11. Oh man, why doesn't ever developer waste their time plugging their bnb into everything they make! Look out Capcom :D Also, obviously Zod will coincide with the theatrical release of Man of Steel, got to let people see it so they can be like "HYPE!" and be blinded by the fact that Zod is even in this game to begin with...
  12. Oh god... f2p really is infecting my console gaming ; -; This is equal parts intriguing and terrible. Also I would say Momiji is "original" in any way, shape, or form (another shameless plug of the Ninja Gaiden series, just a hodgepodge of Kasumi and Hayabusa). Due to the orientation of the screen and the fact that they're specifically lifted from the 5th installment, I could see the center slot belonging to a Virtua Fighter character, though having another DoA character new or old is still just as likely (Tengu, Raidou, ...Genra? ...Shiden?). Surprisingly the DoA roster (not including Alpha because it's a blob) has a 50-50 gender representation ratio; if we do include Alpha and count it as female and they choose to keep the divide then there are 2 likely and 1 unlikely suspect. If the final count goes to the women then this would mean a new character would have to be made as there are no omitted returning female characters. If there were going to be a new, NEW character, I feel they would've just been up front about it, no point in hyping up an unknown. However if we grasp at straws we could see either Kokoro's mother, Kasumi and Hayate's resurrected mother, or Helena's resurrected mother. Or ya know... Rio, because Lisa started out in those awful volleyball games (but is Teccoei so sad as to plug itself that hard?). Actually there's one last possibility... SWINDLER! An affectionate name I gave the "Omega" Kasumi clone infamous in DoA2, having a Kasumi clone isn't out of the question as you play story mode as one for the majority of Kasumi's screen time and it is shown that there are indeed superior clones to Alpha running around [which itself is a poor subject that shouldn't have technically even existed in 5, at least not "-152"]. Going into further unlikely territory for "returning" characters there is also an (older) Gen Fu's granddaughter and a resurrected love of Leon [NPCs have a high mortality rate...] Oh...I guess there's always Niki...
  13. Can't tell if serious or just misinformed. Drawing a sprite makes it "easier" to have outlandish things on screen [but still a pain in the ass to animate] but switching/using 3D models doesn't take away any of the freedom. In fact since it's easier to keep 3D models consistent, that's the whole reason they're used in the creation of modern high end 2D sprites [blazBlue, King of Fighters XIII]. If anything it just depends on how adept Arc's staff is with 3D modeling [battle Fantasia was plenty good looking and whacky to me] which will determine how much time is invested into creating the desired outputs.
  14. Since forever, in fact I don't think you can even do them [practically] without comboing, since you need to land that little "burst" animation of the Veil Off. Also they're more Astral Heat than Instant Kill.
  15. Aquaplus handled the console version of Aquapazza.
  16. There has been a Japanese PSN release for quite some time, outside of that, don't expect any North American releases any time soon. They don't have a publisher for any regions outside of Asia (Sony Asia) and Japan (Arc System Works) and something tells me that while Arc "could" distribute in North America I doubt they see it as a high priority item, especially with no netplay available. They probably only distributed on the JPN PSN because they are the publisher for the arcade version.
  17. This isn't a doujin game, and no there have been no "official" releases for Daemon Bride for anything outside of arcades (Examu solely focuses on arcade releases, with any consumer versions being handled by 3rd parties).
  18. It's clear you don't understand the reasoning behind the system breakdown... I can guarantee you that when CT was first made, the entire board meeting was, "how do we make this GG but more accessible" something that arguably has never been achieved, now that they're making Xrd I can guarantee you the first topic was "how do we make this accessible but more GG?" From the small interview with Ishiwatari-san there's only one thing we can say with 100% certainty at this point about Xrd; it can literally be anything. And so as we wait for more information we're breaking down what Arc System Works has done in the past with their mainstay games (BlazBlue, and arguably P4U) since then in an attempt to see what worked, what didn't, and why. The fact that BB has seen 3 iterations of defensive gauge system coinciding with each major release is quite astounding when GG has stayed rather consistent in it's systems ever since X (adding, never taking away). If BB is their attempt at making the game easier for newcomers, why has sticking with a system been so hard? Obviously their attempts with BB will be analyzed the same way we're doing here when it comes to making Xrd which could literally be a whole new game from AC+R, and quite possibly the "blueprints" for their titles going forward (much like how BB, and even bits of GG, served as firm groundwork P4U). You can honestly only get so much from a 2min trailer that's, honestly, mostly graphics at this point. Also I find this constructive analysis and understanding of not just BB or GG, but fighters in general, highly enlightening. So long as we don't talk in circles like we were with the execution topic = w=
  19. Tons of foreign indie up for sale, including Yatagarasu (came up to $6.04 after tax) Hyper delayed reply lol: "Vaporware" was the wrong word, I should've said "relics" since Yatagarasu is an old game that's just now getting picked up lol.
  20. Haha, no one is saying they will, but since we got on the topic of defensive systems, I found it interesting that Titanium Beast said there were flaws in what they came up with in CP, so I simply wanted to understand where he was coming from. Again, GG may not become BB, but I'm sure developments made in their 6+ years in the series are going to go out the door. Xrd can literally become anything, so while we wait for more information I don't think breaking down what Arc have done in the past in attempts to make their games more accessible is a bad thing.
  21. I think it's fairly on-topic as believing that their developments on BB will have no imposing on what directions they'd consider for Guilty Gear is probably lofty thinking. Who has a "bad" Crush Trigger? And the only time I can see where that even comes into play is when using them for combos, as guard break tools, everyone seems equally viable, it's like saying everyone should have the same lows or overheads is it not? And loosing [large] chunks of Barrier is kind of a big deal since you lose arguably your best defensive option [susceptible to chip, can no longer jump [air block] safely, lose push block] and of course if you drain Barrier completely now you have to wait out a cool down, making the CT that much MORE dangerous.
  22. Early impressions of a game early in development? I mean they haven't even fully thought up a system, so comparing it to anything right now is unfair lol.
  23. Really? It seems pretty solid; with only 1 option to guard crush neither player is rewarded/punished for blocking/aggressions, a perfect balance for the Barrier Gauge, practical applications outside of guard crush. I'm interested in the faults.
