  1. Guys, can anyone let me know if this stick is worth the purchase? http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Fighting-Stick-3-Playstation/dp/B000MWE3BI/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1272861899&sr=8-14 I'm on a budget, and I prefer a more portable stick. It's Hori, but I want some feedback from folks who have experience with this stick.
  2. Omito's still around, and still amazing. MK, Hiro, Shiroi are others that are also great. The legendary Suzume still plays according to Honou, but he just doesn't get recorded enough. Personally I still think DC is interesting to watch; he works like a improvising jazz musician.
  3. lol if anyone would know it'd be you Honnou. Does BLEED even get recorded anymore? Or has he left Johnny behind for Litchi's big boobies? I don't blame him though. Anyway; about the link, check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jWI_5zOraQ#t=3m34s The comeback here is so epic; he capitalized on the MI's unsafe move and that was all he needed. It looks like DC wanted to enkasu loop but couldn't link it, so he turned into a tech punish fiasco with j. D, airthrow, sj.D, etc. (Can Millia even be enkasu looped?) Either way, this combo was incredibly sexy to watch.
  4. Anybody know who this JO player is? He does some creative/sexy stuff in here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jWI_5zOraQ Thread's been dead for a while, let's get some discussion going! Also: http://www.a-cho.com/ac/achomov.html I don't know who told DC to start a round with a feint Respect, but it's not working out too well for him. Someone should tell him to quit it. Otherwise, same old DC: awesome.
  5. He actually Jump Installed the KJ and FRCed it; it wasn't a transport FRC. This allowed him to get an extra jump off the first KJ, then the second one reset his air movement options allowing him to continue the air combo.
  6. Actually I think the JO player here is Kid.
  7. I'm curious; what does this accomplish 4r5?
  8. I like this idea. I'll help out where I can too.
  9. Baiken is Faust's hardest matchup? I certainly would never have guessed that. I also enjoyed how you indicated your composure when up against so many hard fights Maruken, and I applaud you on that. Getting pissed/angry/etc. solves nothing; only a cool head and steady nerves prevail. This is something I live by and wish a lot of people in the fighting game community could realize. Yes you lost a lot but you learned a lot and that is what makes you a superior player.
  10. Thanks for letting us all in on that DW. After reading that I understand why this matchup is so problematic for Johnny. Patience really is the name of the game, but my issue is that sometimes not even that is enough, as too much patience leads to being zoned all day, and too little leads to death. Looking for an opening is easier said that done, be it under Axl pressure or not.
  11. All I see is a lot of things that remind me how much I hate this matchup. Axl's stupid 5P keeps you in your place all day, and IADing on him is asking for a free Resen into Axl Bomber combo. I noticed you using 2HS to stop his offensive; you're a ballsy man. It worked though, but I wish there was something a little safer Johnny can do to interrupt Axl pressure. Good thing he takes hits like a bitch and some nice L2MF combos will put him down quickly. (btw what's the event? Tourney or just casuals?)
  12. I see. I guess my timing for it was off because in all the fights I had last night I tried to MC 2D but it didn't work. Probably was due to lag. Goddammit AC needs online play already so I can stop playing #R!
  13. Question: In #R can Johnny MC his 2D? I played a little after not touching #R in almost a year, and I was doing all of these things I could do in AC that I'm pretty sure don't work in #R...I just need verification of this.
  14. Chrome, I wouldn't even worry too much about enkasu setups right now until you get a good ground game going. Don't give yourself more stress than you can handle. From what I could gather it seems you don't have access to a lot of human comp in your area, so in that case why not just work on those MC pressure strings and only work on character specific enkasu setups for the characters you face in your area instead of the whole cast? That way you can increase both aspects of your game without tearing out your hair too much.
  15. Agreed on all points, but keep in mind you can't do a natural 1-hit ensenga on either HOS or SO. Gonna have to spend 50% for that.
  16. OK, I'll see what I can do: The first thing I'll tell you is to drop Return Jack from your repertoire. I saw instances where you used it and it was quite unsafe (specifically when you were punished by OS with Fafnir after he burst out of it). You had a pocket full of coins man, no need to use that move to get to level 2 when you've got so much spare change! Also try no to do random Jackhounds, save that move for combos, especially against OS. A random JH is likely to get you killed if your opponent reacts to it. tl;dr version: JH is for comboing, RJ is only for when you can hitconfirm a JH and you're out of coins, and they have no Burst. Also, I noticed you were using ground KJ to gain ground on OS; not a good idea, especially without 25% to make yourself safe. OS will grab you and do terrible things to you, especially in the corner. You don't even need to "get in" on OS; zone him all day with 5K, 2S and a little 5HS (the latter doubles as AA). When he IADs on you, 6P on reaction or upper MFL1. Bait him into rushing you with some Mist Stance Dashes and keep him guessing where you're zoning. Don't IAD on him so frequently; he'll knock you out of the air right quick with 5HS and of course his SRK. Stay grounded and watch his approach. A walking-forward JO is a threatening JO! This fight is also his only good matchup, take advantage! In fight 2, you were baited into your wakeup super a lot, I hope you realize that. It'll work once or twice, but don't get into the habit of doing your super on wakeup every time you have 50%. Block, and see what they do. I saw some nice coin pressure towards the end of video 1; keep that up, and work on your MCs, I saw you release MFML1 a little too much because you messed up a MC. Then again, I don't think I ever saw you MC once. Coin pressure is nice, but not on its own; you gotta work on some nice MC strings. Look up some vids of Suzume or Omito and you'll see what I mean. Once you tighten that up you can work on getting in some tick throws; that OS was asking for it. Bait their wakeup SRKs with a well spaced 3HS or 2K. They're good tools to oki with. Keep at it bud, Johnny's a lot of work. Looking forward to seeing your improvement!
  17. Sounds interesting. I think I'll hit this up, provided I'm fiscally able.
  18. That's music to my ears. 'Cause I'd really have missed reading your blog if you'd have had to quit!
  19. Hmm. Don't know if troll. That said, I will say this: GG comes from Japan, ergo they are the mothership for the game's metagame. They don't deal with EX characters, so neither should we. If we want to get any respect as GG players anyway.
  20. Congrats dude! That's wonderful news. Guess you won't have time for GG soon huh?
  21. I've been playing fighting games for almost twenty years and I think as a result of that (combined with the fact that I am a generally level-headed individual) I'm very stoic when it comes to games. I was taught from day one in competitive fighting to never take anything personally because 1. Shit happens and 2. It is only a game. Once you realize this, you will begin to see how immature and stupid it is to lose your cool over it. In my arcade days I'd encounter "ragers" who would do everything but physically assault me and the only rise they'd get out of me would be nothing. When you're mad you're not focused, ergo it's easier for me to beat you (which is what typically happened, epsecially in my Super Turbo days). No one is perfect; there are times when you will be outplayed and you are going to lose. Simple as that. So my advice to you would be to never expect yourself to do better than you are capable of. Stay humble, stay calm and focused, and just deal with the fight. Don't get mad over something that when put into perspective is very trivial. Your energy is better used figuring out how to deal with your opponent.
  22. Nice to see big tournies across the Atlantic still representing GG. You guys should teach us Westerners a lessons, and by Westerners I mean EVO.
  23. I lol'ed.
  24. Just when I was considering a return to CvS2. Oh well.
  25. If you ever run into BLEED, please ask him to stop playing Trashblue and come back to being the top-tier Johnny player he is. He has a following of Western JOs who really, really want to learn more from him. I know Litchi has big boobs and all, but Johnny is a man's character, and BLEED is, well, the man.
