  1. Last night was acho ranbat. I made it to 600 psr! The road to 666 is still very far, but maybe it's possible in the remaining time? In the tournament itself, I lost to Esuke Carl and bab jin. Esuke is very strong, I was able to take a round from him, but the he alters his approach and timing completely, changing what the correct movement countermeasure. Very, very subtle matchup. Bab Jin was someone I could have beaten, but he rattled me with his correctly executed resets and I lost. It's worth mentioning that I did beat one person, lol. As for casuals, nezu is strong as expected. I think the Tokyo bangs are stronger overall, but nezu has the ability to one chance very easily with frkz. I almost beat him the first game but he did random hail Mary 3c and it hit orz. There were a ridiculous number of 600-700 litchi players. I wasn't able to win cleanly once. Jump d into riichi staff junk or recall into air dash jump normal was absurdly strong. I need to think about how positioning works in that matchup, because right now I keep letting people get in for free, which eventually leads to me eating 6a or 4d. There were a lot of 600-700 players of other chars as well. Rachel j.a is largely unblockable for me, bubble oki has a 0% chance of working ATM, I need to see of there is some setup to bait quick tech wind with. I watched the 700+ platinum play a bunch of games. I don't feel like we are very different ATM aside from not having 2800 games played, but I need to compare the more subtle aspects, like jump height, spacing, and item choice when I get a chance to, if I ever see him again, lol. Still plenty to learn! Tonight is kouhatsu. Roppou tomorrow looks kinda iffy on my schedule, but I'll do my best to go!
  2. After a short break, I'm at acho. Wasnt much action in Nagoya the past two days, but acho has a ranbat tonight! @dacidbro and walljumpman, I'm still thinking about the answer to your questions. I'll probably be able to answer them before I return in a long post.
  3. Yeah the same mitsurugi who plays green Zappa. He's the Green Monster. In speaking of colors, Dora uses his color because in CT bangs purple color had some similar motiffs with his chipp color and no one else was using that color. After purple became associated with "Dora" he just kept using it. Important quote: "...but a domi burst is beautiful. It's done at the top of the screen so that everyone can behold its marvelous beauty." -satoshi
  4. That's Mitsurugi lol. He's probably the best hazama in the world, lol.
  5. In regards to reacting to a hit and going into a combo, it varies largely on the type Of hit it is. Some attacks are easy to confirm from one hit, and others are not. If you are just staring out, discover which of your attacks are difficult to confirm on one hit in advance to your next game session and add extra attacks for those specially, but try to hitconfirm the best you can normally. With that out of the way, onto today's post! Comiket killed all of my stamina and I spent all but 500 of my yen. So I went the tournament without eating or drinking anything lol. As you expect, this is kind of a prelude to a bad session, but I think I was still able to learn plenty with the 500 yen that remained. My team for the 3v3 was momoiro, two girls and myself... Making us a team of four. We faced Mitsurugi's team first again, so I was just like, okay I can't escape my fate. We then got ocv'd by their first player, a Noel player. Momoiro did decently, but every on my team lost extremely soundly. Oh well, we were doomed anyways! Next up the was a 16v16 alpha vs tachikawa net play event. Apparently tachikawa had technical I issues so the progrress was slowed. I went 2nd and took out 4 people before losing to a Tao. I was a little bit sad I was so early,as there were still many strong players left on the tachikawa side. It ended up going down to the last player with mitsurugi vs Minami, well, mitsurugi is too strong so he won out. I fought kimura a good deal tonight. He presses all the buttons all the time. In that regard, from an experience perspective, he's showed me what kind of character litchi is. I fought dora in a ft3 gachi. As expected he wrecked my shit and astralled me. His screen presence is really something else, I'm going to need to think hard about my overall movement and spacing if i want to beat him next time. With only two weeks left, can I reach that level in time...? No more blazblue tonight, as its new years and I'm going to visit my aunt. Tomorrow I'm going to akiba for leftover doujin, so maybe I'll stop at club sega for some games. I want to go to Nagoya or Chiba pretty soon...
  6. Yesterday's tachikawa 5v5 was crazy. There were 13 teams! It's crazy how many strong players exist in Japan that you never see videos of. Each team had at least one or two killers you've probably never seen in a video. In the tournament there were 3 random teams. Mine was pretty weak, save for hina and a Noel I've never heard of. We had two really weak players, not including myself for once, and we got peaced out by mitsurugi's team. Mitsurugi is godlike at air throwing no matter what game. I gave akira a box of chocolates as a visiting gift, which he ended up using as the tournament prize, lol. I didn't get to play him unfortunately, but he was busy with the tournament so it's understandable. As for the venue, it was crazy having like 60 plus people hovering over 5 cabs. There were a ton of really strong players, so for the most part I only got to play most people once. In particular, I dropped a game winner against fumo and goro, I really need time to grind 3c cure dot typhoon in practice mode somehow, because that's what I dropped. I finally got some relius and litchi experience from from tori and fio, but I beat them both up so I don't know if I learned much. Winning doesn't teach you nearly as much as losing. As I type this, I am freezing at the comiket queue to get in. I woke up an hour late so I am late to the queue as well. Well, I have no hopes of getting wall shit anyways, just gonna focus on the small circles I like and pick up the main circle leftovers. Tonight, well, this afternoon, is alpha station 3v3! There will probably be a stream on nico too. There was actually one last time as well, but I still don't know the URL. I'm sure there will be more vids of me losing.
  7. I usually did that out of courtesy cause I have a tendency to GO IN, but yeah that's what they were largely doing at tachikawa today, so it makes sense. Also, new plat technology? Probably too much to even remember. The game and matchups have changed a lot in subtle ways. I need I commit a lot of the situations to memory myself, as some of it is still instinctive.
  8. In terms of community, it depends on who it is. Some people will talk to you and some won't. Personally I've never met anyone who wouldn't talk to me, but I rarely talk as I'm often reflecting on my loss or playing. In any case, most people seem nice. As for who is next, I don't actually know. For the most part, who is next is largely unspoken, and you can have a salty runback as much as you want unless someone specifically wants to play. I think the only real rule is to not play someone who doesn't want to play you anymore (ie you beat them up and they move to another cab).
  9. Last night was alpha station. I was beat up again. I'm gonna run out of money pretty soon lol. I lost first round in the tournament vs yenge. I was able to beat him up somewhat before the tournament started, but I failed to break his throws in the tournament. Best of 1 is tough! Satoshi was also around, he was still looking super strong despite not taking the game super serial. He beat judo like 9 times straight in casuals, then lost to him in the tournament . Well, he said didn't really care so he just does whatever. Keba mu looked strong. I didn't get to play him but he looked good from what I could see. I beat kazehira tao twice in a row on my first two games, then he stopped playing me. I think he mistook me for a strong person haha, cause I think I was pretty lucky with my spacing and item rolls. I fought some 700 psr platinum like 10 times before winnin once. I think in terms of raw spacing I was better, but he was better at everything else, including combos and screen management. I ended up learning a lot about the matchup and started to beat him up, but then he would random Mami on wake up and kill me. Only after I conquered random Mami could I defeat him. Judo beat me up quite a bit. I think the score was 3-1, but after I beat him some 800+ psr bang sat down and killed me. At that point I was out of money, so I went home. Good shit to critical edge, gaijin smashing his way into the scene. Keep at it you can become a top player before you leave! Tonight I'm going to tachikawa. Make sure to check out alpha stations vids to see me losing!
  10. Last night I went to shinjuku sportsland. I thought it was just a gathering but it turns out it was a tournament. I died to a hakumen and konan tsubaki. I did beat someone but it was some girl playing hazama. Actually, I almost lost to her, more on that later. A lot of super strong people showed up. Konan, Mitsurugi, Souji, ishita, Dora, R-1, udon, and a bunch of 750+ people I didn't know. Needless to say, beating any of these guys is impossible at my level. But playing them was fun. I could take rounds, but a 3/5 set was definitely impossible at my level, given I haven't even perfected my combos yet. I hope I can get to a similar level before my stay is up. As for 650ish level players, I'm about 50/50 with them. Hazama is giving me tons of trouble right now, the mid level players of this character give me way more trouble than any other. I think I have a much better view on the matchup now, but anti air is so hard it's almost impossible from a practical standpoint. Random thoughts: Souji is like a supercomputer. He calculates your death. Dora says he is too strong and he can't win either. Apparently he is bad with nerves so he loses in tournaments. I guess supercomputers can overheat. Random pink Noel was super strong. Konan likes rcing his corner enders to get install meter when he's got plenty of heat. Didn't get a chance to ask him about it, but he rebuilt the meter when he successfully or in, so it makes sense so far. Today is comiket then alpha. Rough road ahead!
  11. Yeah, I'm the dude in the trenchcoat. All else fails look for my nescia name.
  12. Critical edge, I'm going to alpha today. There's a meetup there tonight I'm gonna get bodied at. Gonna update this post with the shunjuku sports land stuff later.
  13. So yaeah, this is now my Japan Bb blog. Yesterday I got beat up by some 600-700 Level players and club Sega in akihabara. Akihabara is some kind of hazama land, its like 45% hazama players and 55% everyone else.I didn't lose outright, but I often had trouble clinching the last game in 3/5 sets. There was this 150 psr arakune, I was beating him up but then my attitude toward him was getting kinda light and I dropped games to him. Lesson learned, kill everyone. I haven't gotten used to doing stuff in extend yet, all the proration and blockstring stuff isn't really in muscle memory for this version yet. Also my match exp is severely limited, but that's what the trip is for! Today there's a meetup at shinjuku sportsland. I'm gonna get beat up today as well.
  14. Probably not until Arcadia or someone else releases its mook and then translated. Until then it's all personal research.
  15. http://www15.atwiki.jp/nyuu/pages/72.html The values were posted here.
  16. Regarding 3C CH allowing you to OTG after, it's only the first 3 hits, if you cancel too late, you won't be able to follow it up as an untechable OTG. With that in mind, it may be more difficult to do as a punisher than you think. But yeah, the proration is 70/92 now, so something else to take note of when choosing a punish.
  17. I'm still sick, but I'll try to do it today. 12/22/12 8PM PST. Edit: Welp, graphics card died. Guess they'll be no Christmas after all.
