  1. Eh, imo, a stick isn't worth it. Pad is perfectly fine for everything, though Valk may need a bit of button mapping (D to R1, for ex. Make his Human -> Wolf dash -> Human -> A/B/C transforms A LOT easier). I think fightpads have a bad rep for not being that good either. But if a stick works better for you than a pad, then go for it. Not sure there's a better alternative for compatibility between consoles, though. It'd be cool if MS/Sony would make a collaborative pad for both userbases, but that's never going to happen. :\

  2. ... Not that it's going to matter. He's getting the nerf bat hard for CS2, so he'll be more tame this time around. My only dismay is that we won't get to see what kind of crazy stuff the JP could pull with his current incarnation in a couple months' time.
  3. Sure, I'll invite him in a room if we ever cross. We (MTLers) are almost never on at the same time (Brice et al. are never on, either, except maybe for NType on occasion. They have an offline scene, though), but I can introduce him to other Dustloop members he could fight against. AM doesn't play online since CS lags horribly for him for some reason. :\ Hum, I suppose I should try out that stuff in training mode. I just stick to Dustloop and online matches with maybe a couple good vids for my info, haha. I will be testing out those normal cancels into counters, though. That was good to know. Write-up was appreciated, too. You'll have to let me in on those secret one day, eh? You can also ask me anything, my wall is always open. :eng101:

  4. Can't do 2c. It's air unblockable, but if Tager spaces it right, his j.D will outright beat it for a CH + magnetized. Won't even trade. The only way to AA Tager is j.C, j.D, Hotaru, and air throw. I don't think Brice knows that since I've never seen him do it, he barriers instead. I guess we should get around to telling him. :P One thing, though: 5a is actually pretty good in this matchup. It stuffs Tagers pokes if you do it early enough, and since it's jump cancellable, it's a free exit/mixup if you happen to get too close.
  5. Yeah, you should bring him over, he hasn't been at the HQ yet has he? Tell him we got that Naruto fighter thingy as a lure because that's what he's always playing online instead of BB anytime I see him. For shame. :eng101: 4c needs good spacing, yeah. Can't count the number of times I got CH'd because of its long recovery. What do you mean by trying stuff in training, though? All I do is practice combos and maybe D counter things. Not much else you can do?

  6. Yay. Any first impressions, though? EDIT @Mixup convo: I read a Stunedge post where he said CS2 is currently more about zoning mid-screen to push into the corner, then big rape stuff from there. It makes sense since there's no oki outside of the corner in BB. The corner would now be where the big mind-games go on. Maybe CS2 will have some redeemable features after all.
  7. Hum, I'll have to try that out once I can, I really don't have much exp. vs. Bang, even online. Thanks for the write-up, though. It'll help against Monster next time I see him. :]

  8. So... nothing about Haku, I take it?
  9. Yeah, I was really surprised you got 3rd place. You got a lot better since last year, even in Haku mirrors. Keep that up to rep. Haku since I suck at doing it. For Rameo, we have to keep him coming! Good thing Brice pummeled him or else he'd think we're free. :P I wish we could have saved those matches of yours vs. M King since I've got no idea what really went down there, but it seemed to be working. His D's always get the better of me. D: Anyway, it's going to be school for a good while. I'll catch you at Concordia if we ever cross or it's off to the Nov. meet(s).

  10. Hey man, been a while you haven't posted, so what's up? We're all anticipating you guys to show up sometime. :P

  11. Yeah, that's cool, we've all got our own stuff to take care of too. Besides, I think they're doing SF tourneys at the place for the next two weeks, so they might simply not be able to accommodate us anyway. I got your back on supporting the scene, though. We got something good going here, so let's keep it alive. I only wish more people would attend, but we'll probably have to start traveling to other places for the bigger tourneys. But mid-terms come first. :P *Goes back to studying*

  12. Right on it. Won't be up today, though. All set for tonight? :P

  13. Hey man, might want to check out the recent discussion. We updated the tourney info and how it's going to happen and stuff. Hope you can still make it. :eng101:

  14. Hey, you might want to check out the recent discussion on MTLers, stuff changed a bit for tomorrow's tourney. If you could tell everyone you know is coming, that'd be awesome. :v:

  15. Salut, on a change quelques affaires pour le tourney de demain, check le thread! Pourrais-tu aussi alerte tout le monde que tu sais va venir? C'est un peu "short notice". ;)

  16. I dunno, lol. It's not like it's a precise measure, it's several variables all acting together that make the game slower than CT was. It just is slower, for the reasons I mentioned. Just look at the characters going from CT to CS. Notice how they're pixelated in CT? Now check out the smoothness in CS. In order to achieve this, you have to change the resolution at which they're portrayed. So, they just got smaller (this is a very visible change. I'm surprised people say they don't notice it). Since they got smaller, there is therefore more space to play around with. Stages didn't change, it's the space on-screen that got more presence. QED Okay, I'm also getting tired of debating this point by now, so someone who knows why CT is faster, please step up and carry on the argument.
  17. Yeah, take a rest, man. You're way ahead of a lot of us in a lot of things, so take it easy, eh? :v: We'll beat e'm down with U. Haku another time. :eng101:

  18. Shouldn't need to? You kind of have to have played CT to really notice the subtle changes; a difference in space can make a large difference in match pace. But it's not just that. Damage was nerfed, time outs happen every so often (rare in CT, though it depended on matchup), longer combos, more space to cover, etc. "Much faster" doesn't just relate to the visuals, but also to how quickly you had to make decisions and reactions within matches. Space plays a direct role in this by determining how frequently confrontations happen, how much range a move has, etc. These are objective criteria. You must have played the game to notice them, just like you can't appreciate GG's speed until you have to do on-the-fly combos and decisions in-match.
  19. ???? Not sure what everyone is seeing in these vids, but I was just trying to show the speed and perspective difference between CT and CS. In CT, the characters were pixelated, so they zoomed out the view in CS. It makes the characters look better, but it also makes it so there's more space to move around. This should have been the most immediate of visible differences. Overall, matches in CS ARE slower than CT matches. I could post any number of CT v. CS vid comparisons, and CT would win out in terms of match speed. Besides that, I just picked two random vids that happened to feature the same characters. So...
  20. I think Leonil posted the way to catch jumpers a while ago, but I can't remember where I saw it. I do 2a, IAD, j.C, or just hop forward if they jump out. Not much you can do. I didn't! xD Valk is fun, but Haku's still my main since he's still closest to my playstyle despite his changes. Besides, I barely get to play these days and Valk needs a lot of training to be effective with, so it's not like I can use him all that well. I plan on at least subbing him unless Haku becomes really ugly to use in CS2 or something. Yeah, I guess we'll wait for Spark's input since he's a much better player than any of us, but I do say there's no way this match is any better than even.
  21. Oooh, didn't see your post, Snake. Psycho's right on the money for a lot of it. I'll just add that you need to lay on as much pressure as you can. A good Valk will get you to block, and this is one of the rare matchups where you want the opposite to be happening. Valk pressure is no joke, but he doesn't have a reversal, so push into the corner and mixup into the hardest hitting combo you got. Personally, this is Valk's favor because he's got ungodly pressure, mixup, and damage. You can't space as usual with j.C and 4c because of his Wolf dash transforms covering the whole screen. He's a male Tao in terms of mobility, so he's hard to pin down. The good news is that he still has to come to you. I find counters really unreliable in this match unless you're actively trying to bait his offense, such as an AA 2c or incoming 6c, both of which can be reaction j.D'd. Good luck, Valk is one hell of a character. Mash IB -> 5/2a like your life depends on it, and you might be able to get him off you. But if he can get 50% meter, just like fighting full-tension Slayer, don't. Get. Hit.
  22. I'm an eternal optimist; I'll always believe in humanity! Well, to the unbelievers, I'll just post two vids for comparison. Perhaps ya'll need to be reminded of CT. :P Slowpoke CS First: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1Jw_snokMw Sleek CT Second: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMug04z0wRg I'll be damned if CT wasn't much faster (and dare I say, much more fun as broke as it was?).
  23. Which is exactly how I think he should be designed. See my post a couple pages back. :P But yeah, that is too strong, which is why CS Haku saw his 6a/b/c nerfed in return for his buffs. Imo, though, CS Haku with CT 6a/b & CT 6c + CS [6c] >>> Nu. J.C would be more lethal in CT because of the reduced space, so Nu can't zone/mixup quite as well, plus you've got Void to take care of those pesky swords. Haku'd've been the ultimate anti-Nu. :P
  24. I thought his game was about picking apart another's offense, then laying down the hurt. Counters do their part in making the opponent wary, so you get psychological advantage. Imo, there isn't much meter management going on. Once you get 2 stars, you're good to go.
  25. ^ Eh? No, CT was a much faster game. The change in perspective (more space) coupled to the damage nerfs made it so CS is slower.
