  1. We are now LIVE with Second Impact: Full Boost #1 @ twitch.tv/thebrett for Gundam EXVS replay critiques and more!
  2. akai since you live in japan, definitely hit up ranked play! the local JP connection is really good so I encourage you to also try playing with jps to improve while you're there
  3. Updated the combo section with some more suicide combos. General principle is always either 5B8B(3hit) -> A > suicide or 5B8B(2hit) > suicide in normal mode. In transam, melee 3hit or 5hit rainbowstep forward suicide. you can optionally step into ball -> 5BC -> suicide or rainbowstep 4/6 into 5BC suicide.
  4. Generally, higher cost = front (excluding 2k/1k, 2.5k/1k)
  5. @Oronyx: I'm not actually sure which yellow border you're talking about. Are you attempting to play Ranked? Or Player matches? If its player matches and you're not getting in the game, you need to queue up as well (circle). If its ranked, people are cancelling, most likely because on ranked you will mostly find JP players who will have a bad connection to you. If you can clarify which kind of matchmaking you're doing, it might be easier to help. Since you're from the UK, its helpful to try and understand the delay icons to know who you have a good connection with or not.
  6. We no longer have an active OP for this thread - if anyone wants to be responsible for the OP thread, PM me.
  7. Yeah - I confirmed with some JP players that they think it's pretty useful but at the last sportsland tourney there wasn't anyone who was using it for the most part, so it is still something that needs practice I think.
  8. random note: psycho jammer can be decent at calling out virsago's olba assist, since it will catch him even on the rise, and he basically stands in the same spot during it aside from flipping upwards.
  9. That's actually a typo on my part, which I just fixed. It's more apt to say it stands a good chance against the other comps. It's still not something you'll see in tourney play often, but it definitely can hold its own more so than say, 2K/2K.
  10. You shouldn't really need to eyeball it that much, because it's so slow its rare to need to actually aim it. Generally I suggest using 8 for neutral, as even 8 doesn't go that far, and it helps break up the opponents formation / positioning. 2 is generally the one used for oki (obviously) and it's also useful to use 2 if you happen be throwing it out while expecting close quarters combat (usually off of an amekyan). It's pretty annoying to do this, however, since you have to do 662AC zzzz. 2 is also used for combo'ing into generally (BD melee(4hit) > AC > A > etc) 5AC ends up being the right distance for certain melee enders, noteably 5BBB and CSa if you boostdash to the right. Going for Azzam oki off of CSa enders is pretty awkward and unreliable though, since your camera goes crazy and it's difficult to gauge where they're flying off to, as well as the fact that if you are bd cancelling your CSa, you're probably more concerned about avoiding getting hit than spacing yourself for the appropriate Azzam distance. Especially considering regardless, they can directional ground tech and its not the end of the world for them. Before I forget, it's also worth nothing that 2B has a few frames of startup where the shield is active! technically I think the other melee's have a few frames during startup that have the shield, but it's not really usable for anything. the shield stays active on 2B into the beginning of the leap, however, which can be practical perhaps. I still need to mess around with it in actual matches more.
  11. yeah shield amekyan is fine. Edit: to clarify, the input is actually 2C→8→direction+AC→A (or whatever amekyan you're doing), where the direction is which way you want to slide.
  12. That's sliding, a property that works on certain assists by overlapping your boostdash input with AC - inputting C, AC in quick succession does this. Your technique is performing this out of shield.
  13. you're boost dash cancelling out of your shield.

  17. Second Impact Episode 1: [soon] Second Impact Episode 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrVoTz8eFTw Q: What is Second Impact? A: Second Impact is a Gundam EXVS replay and review session run by me that occurs periodically on stream (http://twitch.tv/thebrett) every other Sunday @ 8PM PST. Together we look at user-submitted replays and discuss individual areas of improvement as well as review universal concepts. Q: Who is Second Impact aimed for? A: Second Impact is meant to help players who feel they need direction with their path of improvement. If you feel you're at a wall, or are having difficulty figuring out what exactly you're doing wrong, this is meant for you. As a spectator, watching it is helpful for beginning players to see common patterns / points of improvement, etc, and to have a better understanding of the challenges other players struggle with. Intermediate player and above can watch to sharpen their perceptive ability and better understand the larger scope of the game. Q: I'm really bad / good / mediocre / psychotic - can I submit a replay? A: The only requirement I ask is that you have reviewed the Beginners Guide thoroughly and have an okay grasp on those basic concepts before submitting. This is so I don't repeat myself, as that's really all you need if you're totally new to the game. You're more than welcome if you think there's something specific you want help with. Just remember that these are like Office Hours - there's not much of a point if you haven't even done the reading / homework. Q: How do I submit my replay data to you? A: I'm now limiting it to ONE replay submission per person. Please specific which replay is the one you want. Only one. Again, only one replay. Copy your game replay file from your PS3 onto your USB, zip up the replay folder and e-mail it to me at kazmadan+secondimpact@gmail.com. Please include Second Impact in the subject, and if possible, mention the suit(s) you are playing / PSN name you use in the e-mail body. It's up to you to find the replay that best expresses what you want looked at. Please use the lock replay function via the Select button. The general deadline for submitting replays is the night before (Saturday). If possible, .zip is preferred over .rar extensions. Please follow these directions correctly to ensure your stuff gets reviewed! Q: What kind of replays can / should I send? A: Please send serious replays which you think can help us best identify problems you have. It's important to understand that the more attention you spend to sending in reflective replays the more meaningful feedback you receive. For this reason, I ask that you submit replays where the matchup is even AT BEST for your team, costwise. This means if you're playing a 3k/2k comp, try to submit replays against teams that also have a 3k, or a front 2.5k/1k team. I highly suggest playing TEAM FREE rather than Shuffle if you're looking to submit games, as you have good control over what kind of comps and costs are present. In addition, I ask that you submit replays where feel you are struggling, such as against players of equal or stronger level than you. While we can discuss core concepts even in one-sided games, watching you play your 100% allows us deeper insight into your play, and overall more to talk about. Second Impact is not a place for you to show off on stream. Though we will look at any replay, please be considerate - it's much easier to give you more in-depth advice if you are playing your main suit, for example. While suit-specific advice is often mentioned during Second Impact, it's not primarily a place for me to just teach you Suit X. Also it's highly recommended that the replays are on Side 7 map, and MANDATORY if you play a suit that interacts with terrain at all (ground suits, zaku kai, etc). Feel free to discuss, report that you've sent me a replay, ask questions, etc etc in this thread. Please do NOT attach replays in this thread.
  18. 1st Saturday: CaliBurst 2nd Saturday: Guilty Beer 3rd Saturday: Norcal Dogfight 4th Saturday: Guilty Beer It's been following this pattern recently, though Guilty Beer dates aren't set in stone
  19. Note: One of the biggest changes was that he can rainbow brake cancel extremely well now, so rainbowstepping BC into an optional BR is actually a more effective way of refilling boost than BC itself often times (cuts guidance too).
  20. Apparently a bunch of Navi's came out just now.
  21. Note that CS Main -> 8B > BR only works if the Gerobi is 1-3 hits. If it hits for more, it will down after the 8B.
  22. Pools are up! http://challonge.com/scr2014_exvsfb_pool1 http://challonge.com/scr2014_exvsfb_pool2 http://challonge.com/scr2014_exvsfb_pool3 http://challonge.com/scr2014_exvsfb_pool4
  23. [placeholder - will have this up after SCR] Don't think anyone else is going to do this so I'll be managing all Gyan-related discussion. Just throwing this here for now so I can put some of my Gyan notes here before I forget: Turn A's main takes the entire shield out in one blow (if they let it grind). Really sucks. Wing Custom's main is also very obnoxious.
  24. The next one has a signup ready: scheduled for March 23rd, same rules apply - http://ubw.challonge.com/exvsfb_0323
  25. The points required to rank up in arcade were much smaller and I believe losing was less severe in terms of point loss. It definitely felt like that having played EXVSFB arcade and ranking up personally.
