  1. It definitely gives us more vertical coverage. But now I'm kinda afraid he'll just pull himself directly over our heads and shoot straight down or something. Maybe that's more punishable or easier to stop though. Valk can throw himself high in the air so fast that I'm not even sure the extra coverage will let us react in time. I'm afraid he'll still be flying over our heads. Tao too. I'm not going to proclaim that all to be true though. We'll see.
  2. Nobody is asking for free wins against zoners. We know zoners are the paper to the rock of grapplers. Honestly my biggest complaint isn't so much against zoners (who if we corner they have to get close to us if they want to get past us, so we can at least try to patiently move in and then take advantage of that) as it is against the most absurdly mobile characters (who if we corner just fly way over our head with impunity, leaving us with zero advantages or options). Seriously. Valk vs Tager is like 10-0 I swear to god. Broken as hell. The guy can go so high that I'm not even sure how the new diagonal spark will be useful. Hopefully they've made his drive less resistant to mag or something. Hazama, Tao, and Rachel aren't much better with their drives, to be honest. Actually one or more of them may be worse. For some reason I mostly get Valks trying to cheap me out online. I hardly see Taos. I have no irl scene
  3. They abruptly shorten your jump for a quick overhead, I guess. Might have a minimum required activation height though. Or not start up that fast.
  4. Hey, he held his own against boss Hazama in canon. Sure he ended up running away but it was actually played as a really smart thing to do. Which it was. He might still be his quirky self, but I think that yes he'll have a bit more of a real role in the story from here on out.
  5. The final boss will be a freaky female of some kind. It's an Arcsys tradition.
  6. Srs system question: can Overdrive cancel an attack even if it whiffs? Can it cancel any kind of attack (normal, special, super)? I mean, it's cool if Overdrive has invuln on it when you activate it, but I'm afraid it'll end up like MvC3 where the opponent can just activate theirs in response to get out of any ensuing punishment. . Christ you probably called this. My eye twitched in rage a little as I read it.
  7. Yeah, I remember thinking Ragna, Jin, Noel, and Rachel would all have really boring serious personalities before CT came out. Ragna turned out to be a loveable jerk with a heart of gold, Jin turned out to be NIIIII-SAAAAAAN, Noel turned out to be this whimpering sadsack (a bit of a disappointment that one. Tsubaki acts more like what I orignally expected from Noel), and Rachel turned out to be... Rachel. So yeah, I'm actually pretty positive I'll end up liking Bullet and Azrael to some degree. BB characters are always better on screen. I'm a little tired of tit jokes to be honest. But I'm resigned to them in BB. I'm 100% confident that the first conversation between characters that I come across when this comes out and I start up story mode will be about Noel's flat chest. I've got my facepalm preloaded.
  8. Personality wise... Azrael sounds like generic fighting game dude #6342345. Really. I was kinda hoping his motivations actually directly related to the plot somehow.
  9. Oh my god. That would be amazing. Oh you did something in 720 range? OVERDRIVE MAGNETISM 720 GAME. I mean really, being able to react to your opponent by simply slamming on all four attack buttons when you see something punishable and then using the time to casually 720? That'd be win.
  10. In the videos we haven't really seen anybody land it yet, haha. Hard to say.
  11. Does "rebel group of ex-soldiers" refer to Kokonoe's people somehow?
  12. I was pretty enamored with Azrael's big fullscreen super punch there. I wonder what the frame data on that thing is. Seemed pretty darn slow. Yeah that looked pretty level 3-ish. Reminds me of Eddie's force break drill. Though with way more hitstun.
  13. Hopefully it's an overhead at least? But yeah if it's a "hit throw", then I guess we can definitely use it in combos, unlike j360C. It's like we got air pot buster divided between two moves. Though with that big sweeping attack, grand punish will probably be a lot easier to land in a combo. With a name like "grand punish," you'd think it'd have some kind of defensive or reversal properties to it. Probably not though...
  14. I swear the drills were my favorite part of ol' Eddie. Adding it to a character is always a plus. I hope it makes a really nice mechanical whirring noise.
  15. Yeah, if Azrael is a manly punching mad scientist then he'll be pretty fuckwin. Hell with Relius.
  16. augh, why did I have to make a CP joke already.
  17. With that big sweeping initial attack, I sure hope it works against grounded opponents. I'll be disappointed if it doesn't.
  18. Yeah, I really get the sense that Azrael comes from a different part of Sector 7. He sounds a bit too unhinged to work with Kokonoe. Especially since "work with Kokonoe" tends to translate to "be her bitch." He ain't no bitch. Sorry Tager. Also: when we talk about this game, we get to talk about how excited we are about CP. Yay acronyms.
  19. I opened the video just for that. I nearly shit myself the moment he started dashing. I wasn't expecting a full-on prance. I swear I like all three of the new guys. Amane is FABULOOOOUUS (I play as pink sherbert Tager, I dig that sort of thing) and I like the Axl + Eddie-ness. Bullet is another grappler, so that's welcome. Azrael just seems brutal and impactful. I like that a lot too. I'm pretty happy right now.
  20. Air 360 just looks like a ground 360 when he starts it up anyway. It doesn't have a wildly different animation like that. The big swipe is definitely an air normal.
  21. He's sounding pretty Axl-like. Which means I might actually like him. Haz and Lambda just didn't do it for me. Plus I get to be FAAAAAAABULOOOOOOOOOOOUS
  22. No, that's the belly flop, I'm pretty sure. This is a much simpler normal.
  23. Hey guys. I picked apart Isuna's cell phone videos, noting and/or confirming some things. -I swear this game is moving a bit faster. Or Tager's attacks are. Or something. His combos just seem to go faster. -At one point vs Noel, he caught a jumpout with 5A, and then did 5B > 5C. It all landed and looked like it red beat. He had her in the corner, but when he hit Noel with 5C her feet were damn near in his head, so I think 5C has a bigger hitbox vertically. -Spark bolt definitely has much greater wall bounce on regular hit again. -Holy shit that bounce on AC. I remember somebody said we can do sledge B > GF again. Maybe its because sledge B whiffs rather than hitting them, lol. -CH 4D looks like it crumples the opponent in front of him, rather than doing a somewhat-hard-to-take-advantage-of wallbounce. -We've got some kind of new jumping normal, where he swings an arm in an arc underneath him. We still have all our other air normals still, so it has to be a new command normal. j.2B maybe? -The angle on 623 spark bolt isn't quite as severe as 45 degrees. We can definitely cover a lot of the onscreen air with it. -Air 360 looks just like ground 360. No clue on whether its more like A or B though. -3C > AC whiff > 6B > 6C is definitely a thing that combos. Nobody seems sure what to do past 6C though, lol.
  24. I'm mildly hype about possibly getting a mobile grappler. Though over time I've realized my thing isn't "grappling" as much as it is "blunt brutality." Grapplers just tend to satisfy that. I'll have to see if Bullet pleases me in that regard. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
