You know, we also got one extra frame of invuln on our backdash. It might recover more slowly, but there's more that it can avoid. We just need to learn what can and can't be avoided safely and/or punishably with the new recovery. And we never should have been tossing it out there super-randomly anyway. I was really afraid that I wouldn't be able to do hard callouts on DPs anymore. But now it should actually be easier. I'm not mad at all. Also if you look at the combo thread you should be able to get 2k off of a 5A after GF. It's not huge, but it'll keep people honest enough to not want to get hit by it into another GF. I'll still be tossing it out plenty. Loss of heat gain does kinda suck though.

Yeah. I can't recall exactly, but either 5B didn't combo into 5C, or 5A didn't combo into 5B. Either way, 5A was a particularly shit starter since it went effectively nowhere.
-
Yeah if our 5A damage has dropped down to around 2k with mag, I'm actually not THAT upset. 2k damage into another GF is okay by me. It's not hella damage but its enough to where people don't want to just get hit by 5A out of GF repeatedly. You just gotta be willing to do something slightly more risky (5B, 5C, 360B, reversal bait, etc) if you really want more damage. But hey, close range mind games is our job. I mean it could be worse. Like, we could go back to the days where 5A basically combo'd into nothing.

Well aside from this 5A stuff, he's pretty much the same as before. So it's not like his tactics and all the other threats he had previously aren't there. From what little match footage I've seen so far, I'm guessing nobodies really figured out optimal ways to followup the new 5A starter. Even if "optimal" is shit, I'm seeing plenty of opponents teching out of combos because the Tager doesn't know where to end it.

I may not actually come because A) I'm not sure what this weather is doing and B) there's this big online PvP blowout going on with Dark Souls this weekend as a final sendoff for the game and I'm trying to get a couple characters ready for it.

Yeah sledge is, like, a situational hard call-out at neutral and defense. It is NOT a mobility tool hoo boy it is not hammer fall. Osuna I'm gonna trust your computer-like mind about that combo. Regarding the abare off of 5A: if we can do that combo then I'm pretty sure that we can realize whether or not we're actually hitting them by 5B. If the 5A hits then you can realize it by the 5B and go into 3C. If the 5A is blocked you can realize it by the 5B and go into 5C regardless of whether or not 5B hits or is blocked. Maybe it's harder than just auto-piloting until 5C but I think we can manage. Hell even if we can't do that combo, that's still the logic path we need to learn. However, 3C > AC whiff is kind of some silly bullshit untech-wise, so I wouldn't be surprised if we can get a bit more mileage out of a VS starter than one might think.

I guess I'm jaded and feel like a 4-6 matchup and sometimes even a 3-7 (in the case of, say, strict long-range zoners) is "pretty good." Honestly if our matchups were 4-6 across the board I'd be perfectly happy with Tager. I'll take a challenge, but I don't like facing an absolute tactical shutdown. I'll take what Ctrlaltwtf said about 5A>5B>5C, agree with it, and go even further and say that I almost feel like its somehow not actually going to work out that way. Then again, Tager did start of not able to combo 5A into anything. Or was it 5A>5B into anything? I can't remember. At any rate maybe they felt like he "needs" to go back to that, but fuck me if I would understand why. I'll just hope and pray there's something we're not understanding. Will there be loktests for the patch or anything?

Well those two are also getting the nerf bat. Also I got the sense that Haz wasn't one of our worst fears anymore but I could be mistaken. Koko is just horrible against everybody right now.
-
How much of a damage hit on 5A starter combos are we really talking here? Like I remember in CSX people were excited when we were getting 2.5k off of 5A and right now we get 3k (magnetized of course). Is this so much of a hit in combo time that the opponent being magnetized won't even matter? Can we reach 2k even? Also what are Tager's worst matchups exactly? I know Litchi and Valk are pretty much topping that list, but who else? Tao? I don't know about Valk but it looks like everyone else we really care about are seeing some nerfs, so that's kind of an indirect buff.

Alright I'll bring it then. Also, your title speaks to me on a deep level.
-
Well at least there's something. Are there typically plentiful setups on Friday? I remember last time I brought one and it barely got used so I don't want to lug it over if I don't have to.
-
So I've been out of BlazBlue due to various distractions, but last night I tried getting back into it. Are the Wednesday night thing at Champp's and the Friday night thing at NCSU both still happening?
-
So will blockstrings into 3C be solid? Not that getting 3C blocked is really safe or anything...
-
oh boy time to get nerfed into the ground. I'm being hella pessimistic but I fear for our red giant at every update. Though if we're gonna go all wishlist, we can always pray for a legit anti-air normal. Or even special. That'd certainly help with valk/tao mobility a bit. The other thing that would help would be making it so their mobility doesn't counteract magnetism so hard. Double jump would be nice but that's never happening.

Might be short notice but I'm probably not showing up tonight either. Gotta deal with a situation at my apartment.
-
I'm probably skipping WNB this week. I'll show up to AA though.
-
Yeah that's a good point. Though when you're just tossing out attacks after something like GF, sometimes its hard to hitconfirm into 3C if you're brainslow like me.
-
Yet another way for Tager to Spin You Baby Right Round. Last night in my experimentation I didn't think to do Asledge > 3C > ac whiff midscreen. I kinda don't like comboing into 2C vs a grounded opponent since it relies on knowing your close enough to do so. Which is possible of course, I just need more experience.
-
No there's no time. And please like anybody knows how to play him correctly yet :P Yup. Though this reply might be too late to matter at this point. EDIT: You guys, it's so great to finally live somewhere where I have a scene ;_; GGs everyone.
-
I'll have a setup tonight but I won't have her or Kagura. I needs ta get da yens.
-
Agh I'm not arguing about whether or not it makes sense I- You know what, nevermind. Watch him slap Carl and Nirvana at the same time with it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_pn5Lf6KxQ&feature=youtu.be#t=13m46s

Gurren meaning "Red" doesn't mean a whole lot to me in the context of special move names. I figure whoever decided to call it "Gurren" during development intended it to be called "Gurren" and not "Crimson" or whatever else regardless of region, so I just wonder what the localization thought process was there.
-
Oh 5D. I read that as 5C for some reason. Still that's weird that certain sliding anims would straight-up avoid projectiles that others don't.
-
What? How?
-
Yeah I... was noticing that in the English acting. Strange they'd completely change a name like that. Or maybe Tager is just yelling random crap for no reason. I can accept "Gurren" cuz, well, random giant mecha references.
