After fighting a Tsubaki last night, I discovered her DP is not fun to deal with. You can't sledge the DP itself anymore and trying to do anything against the followup dive... well, I don't know if you can, besides maybe MTW. Any ideas there? I'm starting to think we're better off just not using GF against her. I haven't felt like that against a character since before 5A was good.

Actually from what I understand Tager's abare (ability to do stuff off various hits) has gotten a lot better. Dude's got hitstun for days.

So this whole time I thought I wouldn't be interested in Bullet. Then I tooled around with her in training mode. Holy SHIT she feels good. I really might have to reconsider my feelings about her and give her a shot. I'll have to learn some combos...

Alright, so I've been flaking out of WNB since... well, that one time I went a while back. But that's largely because I was eagerly awaiting CP, because CP Tager >>>>> CSX Tager. (Also I'm interested in some other characters) Is it still at Champ's in that north Raleigh mall? I imported CP and am ready to lose badly offline. How's the equipment situation? Would just bringing the game be pointless if I don't bring my own PS3 and screen?

Yep, it's great. Just what I always wanted in training mode. I think it's the 4th item from the top, on the 3rd to last page. The 5th one is infinite spark. My Japanese is super-rusty but I can make out katakana, which gets me through a lot of video game stuff. I just had to look for the entries that said "teiga." I was happy when I saw there were two such entries instead of one, because it could only mean one thing.

Man. As a Tager player and fan, I'm weirdly mixed up about this. On the one hand, here comes Kokonoe with magnetism powers that sound flat-out superior to Tager's because it looks like they work passively, allowing Kokonoe to do other stuff in the meantime. And then... a giant Tager? Really? I thought that shit was a joke. Is that actually him or some separate monstrosity? I don't even get it. It kinda blows my mind a little just trying to consider it. As if Tager wasn't enough of a joke already... On the other hand... the shit I just described above actually sounds pretty damn cool, haha. Plus she's got big weapons with seemingly Hakumen-like reach. Pulling out giant drill hammers and other random crap, visually she feels like a gritty, vulgar, badass science version of Platinum. I can get behind that. In any case, obviously we don't know anything about actual attack properties or hitboxes or frame data or any of that. But that's my initial impression, I suppose. -

Any time something ignores magnetism, it just makes it feel like magnetism is a complete fucking joke. ... sorry, I kinda just wanted to share my pain. I mean I'm perfectly aware that all supers pretty much ignore magnetism... but whyyyyyyyyyyy. Sigh, at least it seems like they made it so non-super things largely don't ignore it anymore. Flipping sprites is pretty much so much of a tradition that now 2D fighters with 3D graphics literally go out of their way to adhere to it. Look at SF4 or MvC3. Of course not adhering to it would require one of two things, if you wanted to keep hitboxes and frame data the same regardless of which way the character faced: 1) Make alternate left-facing animations that somehow stick to the right-facing hitboxes. 2) When facing left, characters' backs would just be turned to the camera. This would allow the same animations to be used, but it'd probably look a bit weird from the player perspective. Though really that's how actual 3D fighters like Tekken handle it, so it wouldn't be that weird. I dunno. -

Oh shit, somebody's getting CP? Will it be at WNF? What's the ETA? Also, does anyone at WNF play Skullgirls? That's actually the game I'm probably most interested in at the moment but I don't really have peeps to play with offline.

So I like how the Tager "weirdness" is practically common knowledge for Tager players, simply because we take every fucking thing we can get. Nothing like neutral tech crossunder magnetism nonsense.

Yeah, I guess it lets you waste a few more frames so you can get past whatever startup invuln their super has. I guess if he had just done 720 he would have gotten hit?

Well I think 5D works too, after AC. But nobody uses that because 2D puts you close to them I guess.

Yeah I think it's just that the whole 2C > GF whiff > 5A thing isn't that hot. AC > 6C > GF whiff > etc. however is rad as fuck. If you can do it. Still not sure on the restrictions on that combo.

Yeah, someone did this stuff earlier. But you know, it was fancy but it didn't even break 4k. One would think one could do one of those midscreen mag combos that end with GP, but before you do the final air combo you do AC > 6C > GF whiff, and THEN do the final air combo. Assuming proration allows. That could actually be pretty good. Maybe.
