[CS1-CSE] Road to Ikaruga - The Bang Social thread - Do you even 3c?
zeth07 replied to DaiAndOh's topic in Bang Shishigami
One of the other people you mentioned also has a questionable connection so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Also I don't think that person has ever played in any of the tournaments I've hosted, at least not under that name, and I've never played them personally to my knowledge. At least I know to avoid them from the way it sounds. -
If you don't win or come close to winning, I will be disappointed.

Sounds like a low budget Astral. I'm not a fan of reversal supers in general, but I do like Steel Rain as a reversal because it's hilarious most of the time. "60% of the time it works every time." is my motto for Steel Rain reversal. -

I plan to stick with Bang no matter what. Mainly because I don't put a lot of time into the game as is, so I feel like there is always something for me to learn (which is why i never have a sub). Going from CT to CS, even though CT stuff still worked, CS combos were pretty much completely different so it was like re-learning all new combos. Then the fact that you could play Bang at least 3 different ways ("Standard", Bumpers, FRKZ) meant I was never really bored and could always change how I played. And oh yea, he's a freaking ninja, ninjas are cool. -
The Bang stuff is going to change his combos completely (again), if the 5B/2B being slower and the 623B/j.623B having no wall bounce work the way they sound. Especially the no wall bounce off the fire punch. If these changes somehow stay, which i doubt, I would almost go as far to say that Bang could be worst than he was in CT because it really messes up his combo potential / damage pretty severely. Guess we gotta wait and see how this turns out.

Valkyria Chronicles Demon's Souls Disgaea 3 (I like the series anyway) Metal Gear Solid 4 Uncharted 1 Uncharted 2 God of War Collection (if you don't own or haven't played them already on PS2) God of War 3 Yakuza 3 LittleBigPlanet 3D Dot Game Heroes Those are all the exclusives I own for PS3. And I would buy them all again if I had to, since they were all "good" games to me.

Someone's translation of the changes in BBCS2 (location test) from someone else's japanese post. Bang: 5B slower start up 2B slower start up 2B>5B gattling added. (cannot reinput 2B) heavenly phoenix thrust no longer wall bounces for both air and ground 3C is techable ashura slower start up, no more invincibility frames, has become a joke DD So basically Bang combos will have to be re-learned it looks like. 5B and 2B being slower means it might cause them to not work the same in certain combos. 623B or j.623B having no wall bounce pretty much destroys every combo. Guess we gotta wait and see if this stuff is correct though / stays changed. EDIT: for it being a location test and not absolute. -

If a BB:CS tournament is going to happen, I should probably tell people to bring $2 so that it is handled just like the other ones. Since I'm not expecting a whole lot of people, I'll just say it will be "Winner Takes All". As for casuals: Not sure how they do things already, but i'd say 2/3 matches and Winner stays til he beats everyone who wants to play at least once, then 2 other people get on. But I guess we'll see how it goes.

I don't even really like SF that much, but it's still awesome. The only combo video combo I want to land is the Tager into Steel Rain one, that's like first on my combos to do list. -
Putting aside all the Hazama talk going on in these tier list/match-up chart threads: Anyone care to explain what exactly made Ragna go from Top 3, to not even Top 6 in this particular list? Seems a bit odd considering nothing new has really come from the characters who got placed above him now to warrant such changes. And it's not like the match-ups themselves have seen any insightful changes to where all that difference between them dropped him that far. Any explanations?

You could do a bit of a work around by not doing True Oki combos and going for bigger damage ones that let him Air Tech. So you add on that extra damage to his already low hp total, and try to out play him in footsies/"zoning"/spacing once you both are "neutral" again. I'm not really sure who would have the advantage in a neutral situation, Ragna has the longer range but Bang has nails to use most of the time. It's not exactly a better situation, and even if you're sacrificing oki which is Bang's whole gameplan, if you think you can outplay the Ragna in terms of the overall match then at least it is a safe method depending on how you look at it. The only other thing to try would be purposely whiffing stuff after oki but before he techs to give the illusion that you're still gonna apply pressure but actually be trying to bait out a DP. Of course you would still be put under pressure if he decides not to and you don't react before him during that split second. That whole situation is a pain but it's like that for just about every match-up in some form or another. I wish there was an absolute solution, but then there wouldn't be much to the mind games.

Why exactly do we even need a discussion for Tier Lists if we are just going to go by what the Japanese Tier List says anyway? Isn't it kinda pointless to discuss why the tiers are the way they are, if the Dustloop community/BB players can't even form their own Tier List for the game? Or even if the "credible" Dustloop players did come up with a Tier List based on "American BlazBlue", there still wouldn't need to be any discussion if the discussion is ignored anyway and only the opinions of "top players" are taken into consideration. Thus, why do we need to discuss the Tier Lists, if the discussion isn't even used? Discussion of the match-ups can just go in the match-up threads in the character forums right? It's like if someone came up with logical arguments for certain match-ups/placement, it wouldn't change the tier lists because it's just one opinion and who's to decide if that person's opinion is worth anything anyway.

I'm pretty sure myself or someone else already talked about these, either in this very thread or in the Discussion / Questions thread where these questions would be more appropriate. This thread is/was supposed to be just for posting combos. But...., For d.2D the timing is pretty tight anyway. With the little bit of time i've messed with those combos it seems to me that you want to input the 2D almost immediately after the dash. In my opinion those combos probably aren't worth the effort unless you REALLY want FRKZ. But more often then not you'll need to land at least 2 combos anyway for 50% Heat, so you might as well just do 2-2 seal combos to make your life easier. For j.D>Web Nail, depending on whether or not it is the 1st rep or 2nd rep of certain combos, you either want to wait as long as possible to throw the nail closer to the ground or you actually want to do a bit of a jump cancel while doing the Web Nail so he's a little higher/gives more time for them to hit the ground I guess. Awesome stuff, I'm still gonna attempt to land that "Tager specific" Steel Rain combo off command throw.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we get enough for a BB tournament to actually happen.

Alright I have some questions since I've never been to Xanadu and don't know how they are running things: What time will the place actually be open? Because I've never been there and don't exactly know how to get there, I planned to leave my house a little early to make sure I'm there on time, plus I probably need some time to setup the stuff. With the potential BB:CS tournament not actually being "official" for Xanadu, how exactly would I be running it in terms of doing the sign-ups / bracket / entry fees (if any)? Or am I just going to be handling everything myself however I see fit? Are all the tournaments being played simultaneously? If so how do you guys usually handle the problem of someone needing to play one match while already in the middle of another, people just need to wait? I'm asking these questions now so I know what's up when I get there.

To catch most of the cast without problems you need to hit them with the d.6C/d.2B as low as possible. Then the following 2B you need to hit them as low as possible or else they will be able to "Low Tech" on oki instead of getting "True Oki". d.6C is pretty stupid / tight on Tsubaki, so go for d.2B against her and there shouldn't be any problems.

If you own a 360 and are a fan of Castlevania you should buy this game if you haven't already:

This amuses me as well. Remember when just about everyone thought Bumpers were a waste of time? Yea....Dacid used those too. Lol. Times have changed around these parts. -
It was already in a combo video, but I uploaded another video with it for combo examples on the wiki I was working on: Not an air command throw though, so I guess that one would always be welcomed.

Ninety-Nine Nights with some actual strategy involved? Could be interesting, never played the Xbox ones.

We'll see how this goes: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9888-Xanadu-Monthly-Baltimore-MD-Sept-11th-2010-Xanadu-Sky-Trap&p=739118&viewfull=1#post739118 Might as well put some effort into it myself instead of waiting around for someone else to do it.

I decided that I'm gonna bring a BB:CS (PS3) setup to this after all, and hopefully get a tournament going. -Asus VH236H Monitor -60GB PS3 -I have Makoto + Mu unlocked for what it's worth -2 Sixaxis controllers (still BYOC if it isn't obvious) -Surge protector / outlets thing Not sure about the other details and how they want to run things with it. If we can't run a tournament then hopefully Matt Coma is there so I can at least get some practice with someone who plays the game somewhat.
-
Alright, cool. I'm gonna try and do it since I've never seen BB appear on the Xanadu monthly, yet always see these other games that can't be THAT much more popular. Hopefully I get a chance to and it works out. Thanks.

Wasn't sure if I should ask this here or in the monthly thread but oh well: If I was to actually bring a setup for BB:CS for a monthly, would there actually be any room for it? I always check the monthly thread and there is a huge list of games, so I wasn't sure if there was actual space to even do it. I'd be able to bring my ps3 + Asus Cpu monitor (i think it is the same one they use for EVO) + two ps3 controllers. I personally use a stick but I'm not all for letting people use my stick but I'm guessing a lot of people bring their own anyway. Not sure I can do it EDIT: in sept., but it'll be good to know if it is even possible.
