I guess I'll just have to see Bedman's story mode one of these days...
-
Then why is there some early indications that he's working for the Senato... just what is he doing with them in the first place? Or, at least, that's what I heard from another source... I'll have to confirm the source. (I hate waiting for GGXrd, I want my INFO... urrrgh).
-
I don't know... Bedman seems like the result of one of P.W.A.B.'s experiments gone awry if you ask me... and would explain why he's doing legwork for the Senato (who PWAB supposedly might be working under, along with the Assassins who Senato keep on a leash). The Senato used that revival technique on Zato=ONE (stolen from Faust) and the result was the same as if Zato had been "reborn" in the Backyard (Izuna described Valentine and himself the same way when they were born as "Residents", no emotions, barely understanding the self, a blank slate basically). If the Senato are messing around with the Backyard already, that would explain the Revival of Zato, and maybe even explain why Bedman can link in to something "like" the Backyard. The Backyard was full of dense pressure, so if Sol was getting put inside the Nightmare Theater having pressure like that... there's no telling if Bedman is even human anymore... only the "Sage" ("Original Man") and "That Man" (the man who makes the impossible possible / Gearmaker) seem to have no problems entering and leaving the Backyard. I-No's winquote against him is too generic to go by though, so I can't tell if Bedman existed in previous timelines or anything beyond that (unless she mentions Bedman not existing anywhere except this timeline like Sin). In fact I'd like to see I-No's reaction to Sin, since he's the result of this "patched" timeline that she technically fixed.

I don't suppose anyone who went to see the concert got a "release date" for GGxBB Music Live 2014 album? Also Bedman's theme reminds me of that one GG Isuka song "Sheep will Sleep (if YOU get fatigued...)"
-
To be honest it doesn't really matter, since they're both the same sword (in case anyone didn't know). Unless you wanna get real technical about it... then they'd need to make 2 versions of Junkyard Dog and 3 versions of Fireseal (it has a different look in GG2 as well).

It's really weird to think about how much work was put in to this game and yet still people are asking/griping to ARCSys to tweak or change this or that because to them it's just a "simple fighting game"... http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2099538&postcount=229 I hardly understand half the jargon used in that article. -

Regarding Story Mode as it was developed: GG: Had a traditional Arcade story in it (when you fight the sub-boss of the game you talk to them, similar to how KOF and Fatal Fury used to do it). GGX: Actually had no story, just winquotes and some Arcade ending pics (most of what you got was off their bios on the official website or the manual). GGPetit: Ironically was the first time the story was ever shown (this game came out before GGXPlus, which is weird). GGXPlus: Mostly text-based story, no voice work with a few battle sequences. GGX Drama CDs: First time they preluded to GGX's events through audio. GGXX: The first time they used full voice work for Story Mode in the game, making it closer to a Visual Novel if anything. This game was almost impossible to decipher with all its alternate routes. <GGXX Drama CDs cover events before the first GG and after GGXX> <manga and novels came out after this time roughly> GGXXAC: More cohesive, but still difficult to find all the routes. GG2: Finally used in-game models and animation to express characters' conversations along with audio... this was later reiterated in BlazBlue's Arcade Mode (usually the halfway point and sub-boss points). GGVastEdge: full animation, but randomly placed and repetitive cut-scenes, so the story is disjointed. GGXrd: Where we are today, still organized like BlazBlue's (after the first few battles you get story, then later on) but more theatrical as far as the story goes. Also the first time character's win quotes are fully voiced. The rest of the story is explained in Material Guides, GG Bible, and Mooks from different places. It's probably too much work to make cut scenes for everything, so we'll have a lot of "standing before a battle talking" moments probably, and "talking head illustrations" like BlazBlue's story mode. -

Am I missing something? What does Jam have to do with GGXrd right now? -

Well, the way I see it, the longer it takes ARCSys to "learn" how to use Unreal 3/4, the more problems they're going to have down the line with releases (delays, bugs, etc). I know doing stuff in-house is cheaper and all, but even Capcom asked Dimps for help when making SFIV. Co-developing is what Dimps does, really. They fill the H.R. holes that need filling for talent (kinda like a business talent agency for human resources). And even Platinum games helped Konami with Metal Gear Rising on top of that... so co-development isn't so uncommon anymore. -

I think ARC should ask Dimps for help on this when it comes to the 3D stuff if they're having problems. Since Dimps is more of a 'talent outsource' group anyway. That's just my thoughts on it though, since ARCSys is so small yet. Does anyone know any decent Bedman combo videos, all I've seen is bed-flip spam all day in matches (I'd like to see his other stuff if possible). -
No no, it's not improbable, in fact it's very likely "Original Man" is the same guy. Figure, a guy who can enter the Backyard and leave without being scathed has to know something about Tuning in the Backyard's density in order for his soul not to get crushed. I wouldn't be surprised if he found a way to slow down his aging much like "That Man" did (not only that but the guy was speaking in Axl Low's head telepathically, so he might have quite a bit of power).

Sol Fraudguy, lol we need him in the game's training mode. He can be the new "Dan" for GGXrd. -
What interests me is how Bedman fits in to all this. At first it was indicated he was working as a "cleaner/assassin/henchman" for the Senato... but then when he talks to Sol later, he says he's got a different employer. It's not the Senato and he even goes out of his way to say it's not "That Man" either... that his employer is a human. So Bedman is aware of "That Man", he's certainly quick on the uptake (and how Sol is connected to him). Not only that, but Axl Low is doing favors for the "Original Man" now... who is another mystery guy.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a Gear. Doesn't change the fact that he can be controlled by a Command Type either. Guilty Gear isn't like Dragonball Z/Naruto where "Bloodline"/"Kekkei Genkai" gets diminished/enhanced through the generations (even though Sol made fun of Sin for it once). Once converted in to a Gear, there doesn't seem to be a way to reverse it. Gears already had human DNA to begin with, so it's redundant. I think the Sol look-alike was the "sandbag/fall guy" they used (he probably is a parody of one of the developers on the team). Those screens just prove it's VERY POSSIBLE to give us alternate costumes and battle damage characters. :D -
We don't know what happened to Aria for sure... "That Man" just says "We both killed her" he doesn't say what really happened (people keep assuming she's Justice but other than an offhand and confusing comment from Justice when she died, there's no proof yet). Especially given that Justice probably wouldn't remember since there are technically "two" Gear Projects (the first one where Sol escaped and the second one which restarted 50+ years later). As for the first Gear Project... Frederick was part of the start of that theory, since he was the one who understood Magic Particle Physics (so he's the Mage behind the project while "That Man" is the Bioinformatics side or biology/genome side (so he probably didn't know or could conceive as much about Magic as Frederick could)... then you have Aria who is the Programming / computer A.I. side for cybernetics and such). They couldn't have gotten as far as they did without Frederick's knowledge, even "That Man" admitted this. Gears are half animal half human infused with Magic, so they're pretty much linked to the Backyard as Dr. Paradigm explained (which Sol didn't know about at first). It wasn't until later that "That Man" actually went in to the Backyard to make the Cube (so he probably learned a lot over the course of that time after the first Gear Project mostly failed). He had a lot of time to learn and get to know people like I-No (a witch from the future) and Raven (an immortal since before he was even born). As for the sacred treasures (OutRage), yes Frederick made them, but it seems that they were too powerful as a single unit so he broke them up in to 8 parts, most of the parts were recovered by the Senato / Sacred Order during the Crusades (Senato having connections to the Assassins is probably how Slayer got his dagger). By "stealing" Fireseal, he was just getting back a piece of it... Kliff would've given it to him later anyway. He later steals Ky's Thunderseal (during Lightning the Argent novel) because he thinks Ky wasn't using it properly (and just going around interrogating people), but gives it back when Ky is in a pinch against the President of Blackard (who turned himself in to a Gear with Vitae) and decides to let him keep it for now... it was implied in VastEdge that Sol was trying to get the Senga back from the Senato as well... I don't know what happened regarding that yet. Only Izuna and Dr. Paradigm know Sol is "Frederick" as far as allies go. Ky might catch on eventually, but I don't think Justice knew, because when she first meets Sol she calls him a "reckless human". In fact Justice never even calls him Frederick by name... only Valentine does (and she was "injected" with Aria's memories supposedly). Axl Low claims he has a picture of "Freddie" when he was just a kid. Outside of those people "That Man" knows (obviously), Raven, and I-No know (but don't especially care). I suspect Slayer knows, but doesn't care either. Sin probably has an inkling since he knows Sol tends to use big scientific words every now and then that he can't understand. There's a tiny minuscule possibility that Anji Mito knows who Sol is, but he's very indirect about talking about it (he mostly caught on that Sol has a link to "That Man"). Baiken calls Sol a "monster" so she probably thinks he's a Gear as well, so...
-
Ky and Sol initially had trouble getting along as soldiers within the Sacred Order. Ky was about maintaining structure and order and providing HOPE for the people... but he was young and came off as demanding. Sol was a rebel and wanted to be FREE of his fate as a Gear and doesn't like rules... their butting heads on ideals was inevitable. Sol's "stealing" the Fireseal is just what everyone thinks, actually he fought Kliff Undersn to earn it as a "parting gift". And Kliff didn't hold back on him either. Sol gets in Ky's way over investigations on Gears over the years and even in regards to the Post-War Administration Bureau (which we "think" is linked to the Senato). PWAB tries to capture Dizzy several times (I-No tries to kill her too) so Ky ends up having to protect her and while doing that they fall in love and Ky gets a job as an international diplomat. Later on the Senato force Ky in the position of King of Illyria in order to put a leash on him, and even try to blackmail him by threatening his family if he doesn't comply. Ky is forced in to a corner and gets depressed since he couldn't afford to let Dizzy and Sin to be exposed to the public as Gears when most people thought of Gears as monsters. Dizzy calls Sol in to talk to Ky, and Ky basically is trying to "confess his sins to God" (because nothing else makes sense) and Sol being his atheist self basically tells Ky he's wasting his time... The two fight, but even though Ky keeps getting beat down, he keeps on getting back up worse than before... eventually Sin steps in and breaks up the fight, even though he's not fond of his dad not spending time with his mom and him. Ky tells Sol his problem and asks him to look after Sin "for a while" (at least until the Senato are dealt with) and Sol agrees (probably out of consideration for Dizzy). Sol raises Sin (in a rough way), meanwhile the Gears start getting sublimated (dismantled) by Valentine... Dizzy is one of the victims but Ky manages to halt the process by stopping time around her by using up the Thundersealed Sword's power (he isn't quite sure how he did it, just that he did). Then Valentine basically raids the castle looking for gears but can't find Dizzy and seals Ky up in a magic seal with Raven looking on... Then the events of GG2 Overture actually start (The Baptism 13 Incident)...

Speaking of "pre-set button layouts" why do most GG macros only use P+K+S for Roman Cancels? What if I want K+S+H or P+K+H or something? -

Regarding Subs and Dubs: Aksys was kept in the dark about a lot regarding this game (though they knew a few things, it wasn't enough to say they know for sure what ARCSys has planned). ARCSys dubbed GG2, so there's a good chance we could get a Dub here (though I don't know how much quality we'll get out of it). And considering GGXrd images were LEAKED as early as 2011, they've been working on this for quite a while... Regarding what I know about Sin: ---He was mostly about long range pokes in GG2, so he's closer to Hakumen than Tsubaki. ---We don't know if Eating a piece of meat is his only animation or not (he might have several). ---Exciter was basically a "super armor" buff in GG2, it wasn't anything like Dragon Install, it was closer to Crimson Jacket (a defense buff). If Sin takes off his patch, expect him to have some kind of Telekinetic shockwaves of some kind (based on his GG2 stories). He kinda reminds me of Cable in the Marvel games lol. -

In other news: found some music info for people who might be interested to know who did "Heavy Day" / "Lily" / "Ride the Fire". Mike Z already said (in this thread no less, check his posts) that the reason he doesn't like GGXrd so much is because he's used to PlusR. It's that simple. Some people are more used to Accent Core because that's all we had to play for years. You just get used to it. Adjusting takes time. That was his gripe and it was a valid one. Mike Z ain't a hater based on that alone. God I hate rumors. -
Not sure if this has been asked, but how good is Jump Dust? Can you cancel in to Air Stun Edge from it? How good is Ky's air game with it?

Seriously people, stop complaining about ___ character/song/stage/gimmick/whatever not being in GGXrd. Just wait and you will be heard. ARCSys isn't the type to forsake people, they just take a long time getting stuff done cuz they're a small company with BIG responsibilities. Also stop complaining about having to use D-pad. Some of us were raised on it. -
