[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Blade replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Challenge Mode is definitely not the same as Mission Mode, by any stretch. They could still go for it, if they so wanted. Some things I'd like to see later on (when the roster gets bigger): ---Isuka Mode (c'mon we allll want this..., especially online 4 way battles) ---Boost Mode (like Tekken Force Mode and probably easier now that it's 3D) ---Team Battle (for the KOF fans) -
Wow Sodium depository indeed. You aren't guaranteed to "REALLY LOSE" if you pick someone else. I'm not THAT good a player, besides (and I don't spend more time than anyone else would to learn the whole cast... that just is part of my interests in my SPARE time just like anyone else). I don't mean it in the sense that people should stop trying to get experience with a character they choose to learn. I mean if you aren't making headway maybe you should try someone else for a bit and loosen up/relax. I switch characters up if something isn't working until I figure out how to deal with a certain situation. I just get tired of fighting the same character who makes the same mistakes over and over without learning anything/trying new tricks. Some people auto-pilot their mains and get walloped because they don't "think" while they fight. That's the main problem, either think while you fight, or pick someone else for variety. Alternately, if you keep having the same problems with your main, sometimes you have to consult people outside of matches before you figure out what to do, at which point you have to discuss the problem. Some people don't even bother to ask the question "What am I doing wrong?" They just keep losing and are fine with that... Try not to be so sensitive about your mains, guys... I'm not trying to insult your egos here. Yet another pet peeve of mine: Fighting Gamers who don't know how to RELAX.

I pick Tager when I'm not familiar with other character's combos/mixups (so I can block em and learn em). Doesn't mean I don't pick other characters. Some people, I dunno... they keep trying and failing or something, even if it's their main. I wouldn't mind a counter-pick if it meant I got some variety.
-
Here's a pet peeve of mine: Players who refuse to pick any other character except their main. 1. This only works if you play your main offline and are actually GOOD with them. 2. If you do the same lame combos over and over and STILL lose with them.... huh? What? 3. Using the same strategy over and over online... because that REALLY WORKS. As Venom would say "Kimi wa taikutsu da." (You're boring me.)

Thanks FattMatt for explaining. I will definitely consider that in the future.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Blade replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Well, the argument of whether or not we should have a "back stance" for 2P position has been experimented with in games like Mortal Kombat, and there's always naysayers (even when people were given "Stance Switch"). Personally I have no problem with viewing the back of a character, I think it's more realistic, but people just LOVE to complain about their frames and hitboxes (which are, as of GGXrd according to that article, horizontally adjustable depending on the display). -

I said this before but my "sources" are saying Fall/Winter is the projection (world-wide). As in this year some time (September-December), delays notwithstanding *knocks on wood*. In other news, another article has appeared! Maybe someday we'll see Sin without a flipping eyepatch or Baiken without a flipping facial scar (Sin's early pics have patch flip, but they're early in production with him methinks). -
Oops, forgot this was ACPlusR, my bad.

Against experienced players you're going to have a hard time because they know 1 frame jumps and can read tick throws pretty well, they even option select throw-break at times too. Experienced players will also know what moves are throw-wiff too. I'd say the safest way to get in now would be Gunflame YRC in to command throw from rushdown. Otherwise you can do empty jumps (jumps where you don't do air attacks and do nothing, land then throw) or Bandit Bringer YRC.

Thanks for refuting/defending Ramlethal's Boss status play-ability revisions, guys. People should remember that next time they talk about ARCSys and broken characters. (It's probably easier to complain about BlazBlue than Guilty Gear though...) I'm waiting for "Helium Announcer/Voice Mode" (lol Faust). -
lol this explains every fighting game ever between rounds. People beating the crap out of eachother and then once one of them is near death the announcer says "FINISH / SLASH" and Celica comes in, heals them both to full HP and they're like "DUEL 2: TURN UP THE HEAT!" She must be really tired of that... Also, the way things are going, if they keep dragging out Jubei's release (or bringing out his dead cousin / Nine), Jubei might be the next "CT Hakumen" (i.e. super strong) if and when he gets released.

Here's a question for you guys: Are Play-Arts Kai figures (or the like) officially endorsed by ARC System Works? Do they get money from us buying the figures? If not, I'd think Play-Arts Kai falls under "Fanart".

It just seems to me that while Bridget has "zoning normals" he also has to rely on the 'position' of his Yoyo to do most of the work. Ramlethal is much the same in that her swords have to be positioned the right way to be effective (similar to how Mu-12 works). Bedman's Deja Vus aren't necessarily fixed in position in accordance with each "seal" he puts out... in fact he can use his Deja Vu moves more than once from what I heard, unlike Ramlethal and Bridget. As for Task A Prime/Deja Vu Prime (Bedman's Head throw warp) it doesn't last very long so it's not as useful as Bridget's Yoyo recall or his Yoyo Air Roll. The only thing good going for it is that it works on block for sudden mixups (assuming it doesn't miss). His Overdrives are meant for mixup pressure and reversal tools, so even if they're not "great" in neutral situations they should (in theory) get the job done. (Why are we even comparing Bedman to Ramlethal?) I think the best way to determine the similarities / differences would be to see how a good rushdown player (i.e. Sol) would deal with all three characters and what their answers would be to that kind of pressure. To be honest I'd sooner compare Bedman to Arakune with his bag of tricks (barring Curse). -
Just wanted to ask but, since people are using Apps more than they used to, I'm wondering if there's a way to access posted match videos on Youtube easier on a PS3 Youtube App? I just got it and I was able to find some Mikado streams recently and enjoyed those, so I'm wondering if Dustloop has any plans for working with the PS3 Youtube App. Or at the very least, make stuff easier to find? PS3 Youtube App is a little different in that it's not a browser, it links to Youtube directly (you can log in and such).

I'd say Ramlethal is closer to Bridget than Bedman though... -

Regarding Ramlethal being so strong... you guys sure it's not a case of "Boss-itis"? I mean, how strong was I-No or Dizzy (or Testament) when they showed up in their boss incarnations? Since it's probably not easy to bring a Boss down to "normal balance play" when revising them. Boss of GG (Justice) < obviously broken Boss of GGX (Dizzy) < she was strong but I don't recall HOW strong (I know Testament was strong) Boss of GGXX (I-No) < I don't even remember Boss of Slash (Order-Sol) < No idea how strong he was when he debuted, but I think he's better in ACPlusR ACPlus (Justice/Kliff) < ridiculously strong from what I remember ACPlusR (Kliff) < still crazy strong I think Either way I predict Ramlethal will get hit with a Nerf-Bat in the next incarnation/revision. -
To be honest, the Senato are known as the "Senate"... The Post-War Administration Bureau were already working for "Representatives within the United Nations". These "representatives" were Senators... Senators... Senato? Come on people it's not that hard to come to that conclusion. PWAB is working for Senato, they're black-ops scientists and rogues. Here's the picture I see: Senato wants the Assassins' Guild in their pocket so they: ---Use PWAB to come up with a way to 'bribe' some of the weaker assassins with the 'idea' of Power. The best way to do that is to give one of the more 'affluent' members a power that the Guild wouldn't be able to question. PWAB has been known to convert humans in to Gears, but because said Gears fell in to Justice' control they were failures (i.e. Testament). PWAB also developed anti-Gear technology in the form of Forbidden Beasts (Kinjuu), not to mention the R-Series robots (Robo-Ky/Robotemkin etc). ---PWAB gives Zato=ONE a Forbidden Magic Tome (spellbook) to call upon the Dark Binding Arts (Hi-deigokutsuipo). Zato willingly sacrifices his eyesight to be able to control shadows but wasn't told he was going to be the "host" of a beast parasite (PWAB knew this would happen, and also knew he would need political support within the Organization in the form of Millia, so they forced her to carry one too). The parasite wakes up after the 2nd Sacred Order tournament and begins to take over Zato's body and calls itself "Eddie". PWAB already knew it had an expiration date (it was programmed that way since during the Crusades, to clean up any 'messes'). ---Zato prevents Eddie from killing Millia and dies during GGX's events, and Eddie is trying to hold itself together but eventually dies as well during Accent Core (though Crow of PWAB notes that Eddie could take on the Justice Copy he created without much of a problem, so he saw potential there). PWAB captures Zato's body and ships it over to the Senato for their 'revival project' (which was developed by Faust, who PWAB ALSO has an extensive profile on, claiming he reminds them of one of their own pet projects). So from the Guild's perspective: ---They obtained a powerful leader (for a short time) in Zato, but Zato was also under PWAB (Senato's) thumb for hit contracts... this is probably something Slayer did not approve of, hence why the two butt heads in Night of Knives, since Zato was mostly doing jobs for money as opposed to destroying corrupt Noble elements in world politics (i.e. whom the Senato represent). ---Zato was going to die and be replaced eventually (this was calculated), leaving those loyal to Zato in the power vacuum (i.e. Millia and Venom, and since Millia left it fell to Venom). ---Venom's history with PWAB means he's fully aware of Zato's contracts with them, that's why he tells Faust he won't reveal anything. ---It was probably PWAB (Senato) that helped Venom gain so much political influence over the American President in the Butterfly and Her Gale Novel (Chipp's side story). In fact it was stated that Venom had access to other members of the U.N. senate as potential hostages (only Senato probably could've gave him as much access). ---Because Venom was trying to recover Zato's body, it would've been an easy matter to "control" him (and the Guild he controls) by obtaining Zato's body and using it as leverage by reviving the body (even if the ritual was a failure). That's why Venom asks Millia for help, since in an official capacity he can't go against the Senato because of what they might do to Zato's body. PWAB were responsible for a lot of pet projects of the Senato over the years. ---Monitoring the Sealed away Justice ---Making sure Testament was kept tabs on (how else could a Gear gain political influence to set up a tournament?) ---Controlling the scientist behind A.B.A. (who controlled Paracelsus/Flament Nagel, yet another weapon they probably want to develop). ---Trying to access the Japanese Colony bloodlines (Geena was one of their infiltration cyber-agents in the GGXtra Manga).

Yeah, I kinda got in the bad habit of trading Gunflame spam for RTL and paid the price on dumb timing in AC+R (stupid Gunflame hitbox).
-
I do near-instant to instant jump Dust all day, so that's why I asked (that's part of my usual gameplan... or was in ACPlus before Xrd happened and nerfed it back to #Reload)
-
Trying to do air combos in lag. :/ Throwing out guard strings in lag. :// Doing ANYthing in lag. :/// It gets so bad some days I just mash random buttons hoping I win... otherwise I cry if I lose. ACPlusR netcode is crap. Utter crap. Ironically I do better mashing buttons in BBCP with Arakune... for some reason nobody understands how to fight Arakune short of just sitting there, blocking and waiting for me to mess up. Also, what is this "Canadian Bursting" I hear speak of?
-
No more surprise Gunflame nonsense like in ACPlusR? lol By the way I noticed Grinders don't last long. What's some ways to bring out the best of setting them up and using them? I know Standing Dust is slow in coming out and highly telegraphed, but if you did it full screen away would it be safe? And what about Ky's new move? Can he just do that, wiff it, backdash and send something through the Grinder with it? Actually for that matter, (since Ky lost his air Charged Stun Edge) how low can you set a j.D grinder? (In other words, can you send a standing Stun Edge/Sacred Edge through a j.D grinder if it's low enough?) Also, I take it that ground CSE no longer has the "FRC float glitch" from previous games... Also... why is Ky able to eat Bursts with Ride the Lightning? Players shouldn't be ABLE to Burst during Overdrives. Period. That's a system rule.

Would people be interested in a BlazBlue Quote Project?
Blade replied to Blade's topic in Zepp Museum
Well, for now, I'm looking for people willing to work on expanding what's already out there. The Wiki is already a good start based on the links I saw on this thread. As for things like Library Mode and such, I don't own the Japanese version (of BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma) so I couldn't access it. You'd have to consult someone who does and can give us direct info (maybe even read Japanese). -

I think so long as people are adjusted to ACPlusR and transitioning in to GGXrd there's going to be a lot of players who are falling out of love with their old mains. Koichi being the least of it. People got on Mike Z's case about the changes and how he felt about it, but he's just like everyone else who is used to Accent Core. For myself, I've played and switched between old and new GG games so often I'm more acclimated to switching between AC and R (I happen to like playing Korean #Reload and GGXPlus a lot). It just takes time to switch, that's all. -
Got some questions about Bedman's Seals: ---How does dispelling the seals work? Are they like Testament's where you can just poke them to dispel them? Or do you just use a projectile-type attack? ---Related to the above question, are the Seals anything that "absorbs hits" (like Dizzy's fish projectiles?) or does Bedman take the hit anyway?
