  1. well, seeing as how i basically started this discussion, i meant my zoning /\ is good, but when someone rushes me down and i don't have the time to get out, i'd rather be able to IB and get a ch and start a melee chain rather than reset and try to go back to zoning. hence why i said "i'll try a no swords /\" to become more proficient at melee combat. once that falls nicely, of course i'd go back to zoning first. as for Hakumen and Hazama, a hakumen that isn't rushing inside your sword range is failing. he can slice your swords and and nullify them. so you can't use them as much. Hazama can out zone /\. his chains are faster and he has a vector of attack in the air that neither 6d or 2d cover. you can't use j2d to zone because he has a horizontal chain, and in the air, his jc owns every jump attack /\ has. which led me to the conclusion that you should IB and try to fight a little closer than stay full screen and let him out zone you.
  2. playing swords only lambda will set you up for failure. two of my friends play hakumen and hazama, and that forces you to not use swords. i'm confident that if i don't use swords for a while, then begin to mix them back in with a melee routine, i'll overall become a better player.

  5. i had no idea 4b could combo into 4.2k what the eff. i've always just done 4v > jc j2c etc. anywho, thanks for organizing this. its a very nice "optimal" combo guide.
  6. i love mashing out Calamity sword when under pressure. its so satisfying. sometimes i even go out of my way to win with it.
  7. you also need to make sure they're at the specific range, because it goes a certain distance every time. it doesn't adjust like A and B. so if you do it while they're next to you, there's a large window for them to grab you out or hit you out of it.
  8. yeah, you gotta do it fairy quick. like a bit slower and you'll drop the combo. i'm amazed at how fast my thumb can move from 8 to 2 on the d-pad.. haha. so anywho, what is this TK7, TK8 and TK9 shenanigans?
  9. good play Sev. though i couldn't help but notice you probably would have won a round or two if you did 5c mash 6c instead of the tk loop. but you're miles better than me, so i can't really say. haha.
  10. annoying matchup is annoying. since he has a jump horizontal chain, it becomes that much harder to zone him using j2dd. and since his chains have the same range but are faster than /\'s swords, it also becomes harder to use 5d. 214d is okay, but his chains cancel that out, and using 214d~c gives him enough time to move forward and chain you. 6a is unreliable because he can pull himself behind you. his j.c has crazy priority and beats every melee aerial /\ has too. i can only see this matchup as a good one for /\ if you wait for the hazama to make an error, so you can capitalize on 236c or 214d.
  11. yeah, the first one was just a bit early. i've been doing that a lot in practice mode. parser c > dash > mash c > 6c > 2dd > tk > 5dd etc. just gotta hold back on the tk a split second. simple yet severely damaging combo at 4k+ also, i've noticed that when i do the standard air combo but i try to dj2dd > feint > djdd sometimes it misses and sometimes it connects. probably just an issue of combo length. also, i've progressed to being able to do 3 reps of the TK loop. WOOOOOOO
  12. so i can do 2 or 3 reps, but i can't move from 6a to the 2147 without error when i speed up.
  13. goryus is the only american (white) /\ player i know. haha. i'm still getting used to playing online. there's a little delay i guess that wasn't as noticeable when you had the leniency of nu's moves..
  14. RAGE. you gotta TK soooo fast after the 6a. i wasn't aware. so hard to do on a dpad.
  15. ah, that's good. i was shooting Hakumen out of the air with it, but i couldn't do anything afterwards. i guess i was trying to dash cancel instead. good to know i can do something out of it

  17. question. what's with the shift to 5c xN > 6c > dash 2dd? i much prefer whatever 5c xN > 6c > 6dd > 2dd. the timing on the 5c here needs to be more stringent, but its what worked well in CT. also, counter hit 6c doesn't wall bounce any more? (did it ever? haha.. i've already forgotten CT) it was a good setup for 6dd > 2dd etc.
  18. well, i found tonight that playing against unlimited Hazama is a great way to practice zoning. haha. i inevitably lost every round, but its satisfying whittling his health down via zoning only, considering how much they nerfed her sword damage. i also found a love for using calamity sword as a reversal. its very satisfying to see the thing drop on them. but she still seems slow to me. obviously the increase in recovery time.
  19. yeah, 236d is trash unless you have them in stuck in 236236d or you're playing tager.. and yes, jdd > j214c~d > jdd > j2dd is the main zoning tool now that i use. i started using it as soon as i saw that you couldn't link 5dd and 4dd any more.
  20. she just feels a lot clunkier. no idea why. like she felt find when i played her in the arcade, but now she just feels sloooooow. possibly because i played a lot of CT between the last time i went to the arcade and now. they did increase startup and recovery on a good amount of her normals. but its expected. come on december.. ha, haven't gotten my tk loop down yet. i haven't found a reliable way to actually GET to the point where i can tk loop. i'm guessing corner throw is the way to go?
  21. yeah, i'll just keep on trying. i also can't air throw and rapid fast enough. haha. difficulties..
  22. alright. i'm finding it hard to dash after throw. wtf.
  23. loop is rather hard with a d-pad. getting the distance is also iffy.
  24. i still play this on my imac. haha. i mainly play Wing Zero or DeathScythe.
