It's not really gambling so much as there not being any one answer 100% of the time. Otherwise there wouldn't really be a game. Everything comes down to probability. There is no such thing as a safe option, just what is most likely to be safe in a given situation. You want to identify and commit to those options, but sometimes you might want to go out on a limb and take a bigger risk if you have a feeling it will work. The best players can juggle all of those situations and pick the right one at the right time in the heat of a match, while pressuring the opponent to pick wrong. So ultimately it comes down to judgement, which is why you see the same players placing high consistently. And of course, developing the skills to make sure you can execute that judgement.

You could say this about literally any competitive field though. There's always going to be someone who has a gift that other people don't.

Yomi is just being able to predict the opponent's move. You can do that in plenty of games.

There isn't any setup that works in 100% situations. Or at least, that isn't the usual scenario. You just have to go with what you think will work best on the particular player.

It would be kind of interesting if they made life steal have a bigger part, and then characters like Hakumen could negate it (since he always mentions his wounds won't stop bleeding against him). I wonder why they nerfed the life gain in the first place.

The way you deal with it is by killing him before he gets a chance to use it. It's like letting a control deck in Magic build up 20 lands and get a full hand or someone to mass Carriers in Starcraft. The match was over way before that.
