  1. Doesn't matter to me as long as you're all in one place. I'm thinking Justin's apartment is best though because he wanted to bring a setup and that's much harder to lug around than anyone else's stuff.
  2. I'm starting to feel like Makoto suffers from the same everything-combos-into-everything syndrome litchi and bang have, lol. I've found some pretty stupid troll combos. So far I'll probably be taking myself, Jewdo, Ivysaur and Reptar to SEB. If any other georgia tech people want to go to SEB one more person can still fit, so GET AT ME.

  4. Main thing I noticed is that you had two opportunities to RC punish Rachel bursting right after getting hit by drive. When anyone does this, you have a million years to reaction RC, so make sure you're paying attention. You initiated pressure with jC© a lot, a good mix-up is to throw in a 6B when you land for a double overhead. After using 2A>2B> blah blah so much, I guarantee that it would have caught them off guard. Just in general you need to use your overhead more outside of just the 5CC gatling. Also, air-block lambda.

  7. Okay, since it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet: 214A-C-A > dash 5A will combo against Hakumen (and Tager) if they're crouching. This allows Makoto to push her midscreen damage higher on a lot of her midscreen BNBs, so learn it and abuse it in this match-up. It's the difference between doing a piddly 2-3k damage combo that sacrifices oki and a 4-5k combo that ends in knockdown.
  8. I keep forgetting to use BBS as a punisher because it feels so scrubby xP You're right though, it definitely makes her better in general situations. And I didn't realize S+ was an option for max damage, I completely agree... I was practicing the combo follow-up for parrying inferno divider and 9.8k damage feels so dirty.
  9. My opinion on Makoto overall, for anyone that's interested. Average damage: B-. Makoto has difficulty reaching 3k with midscreen ground combos without starting off something random like 5B, 5C. Her anti-airs (6A, jB) lead to decent damage. She needs 50 heat to reliably push up her average damage. Max damage: S. This is where makoto excels. If she hits with a 3C/2C punish, 6B/5C/5B in a corner, and many other things, she can easily break 4-5k and do even crazier damage with a single/double BBS ender. Pokes: D. Like Tsubaki and Rachel, all of her pokes have really bad range. Breaking out of pressure: B. Her reversal is decent but loses to a lot of stuff and will flat out whiff against a lot of low profile moves. Parry is excellent, but gets beaten by lows. Her Counter Assault sucks. Mix up: B. Makoto has lots of mix-up shenanigans but they are generally unsafe. Staggered 5CC is one good exception. 6B is a relatively fast and subtle overhead with useful gatlings into it, it's quite good. Pressure: C. Makoto's pressure is destroyed by IBing. 5C© can always get punished on IB, it goes into nothing safe except 214B/C which drops all of her pressure. Improves noticeably in a corner with jD > 6B > meaty 214A. Okizeme: B. The short range on her pokes makes it difficult to punish roll teching, and the resulting damage is negligible. 2D LV1 actually leads to respectable midscreen oki however, and again it's noticeably improved in the corner. Against Ground: C. jC loses to pretty much every anti-air. j2C can bait anti-airs but it's an easily punished gimmick and unsafe on block low to the ground. Against Air: B. jB is great air-to-air and induces rage on counterhit. 6A is fairly good and parry is awesome for ground-to-air. Defense: B-. Average life and average primers, but her hit-box is a little wonky. In general situations: C. Like Tsubaki, she really needs to be on the offensive all the time to be effective, and has a tough time getting into that position. Overall: B. She has lots of mix-up options and insane max damage, but it's offset by her relatively low average damage and difficulty approaching characters with strong pokes or zoning. Good matchups: Rachel, Tsubaki Bad matchups: Litchi, Bang, Hakumen You left out the part that pretty much every random hit leads into a combo that generates 50 heat and ends with inescapable corner oki. And if you get hit by any of her mix-ups in the 5 seconds that she's completely controlling you, she gets to do it again.
  10. Does anyone know any mix-up shenanigans involving the Tager-specific loop? Other than the obvious, like staggering jCC enough to not combo.

  12. All you have to do is put a single number in the mirror match-up. EX for AR v Ar, put a 30, for Ragna put a 60, etc.
  13. No one's arguing that players actually have a physical disadvantage/advantage in mirror match-ups. I think the point jiyuna's getting at is that mirror matches have to be gauged by an entirely different metric. Just listing them all as 5/5 doesn't do them justice because some of them (like arakune) are REALLY screwy. This really doesn't matter though because there are other way more obvious issues with the match-up chart... though as others have pointed out that won't matter either soon.

  15. I won't be attending the gathering this friday as I will hopefully be going to a Pretty Lights concert. I say hopefully because my ticket better fucking arrive in the mail, I can't miss this. It will be the most hype concert ever.

  17. No, it isn't. This entire concept has flown so far over your head. What if a stage had flashing red lights that caused epileptic players to seize? Would you tell them "ZOMG A STAGE IS A STAGE IS A STAGE IS A STAGE IS A STAGE IS A STAGE IS A STAGE", or would you say "Gee, this stage's graphics have a palpable detrimental effect on certain players, it should be soft banned out of respect"? For a real life example, in SFIV the lava stage was soft banned because the background would hurt players' eyes or something along those lines. For once, put a tiny bit of thought into what people are saying before you post.

  22. having a really good DP is just a part of Ragna's design. He has less health than normal, 4 guard primers and his mix-up gets really easy to avoid the better you get at blocking, he deserves a really good DP. I'd be surprised if it was nerfed.
  23. there really isn't a reason to try 3Cing hakumen unless it's against bad players that spam 4C. 4C is annoying but it's not actually threatening, just be patient and IB it for heat.
  24. point taken. it's hard to imagine a world where noel isn't a gimmick factory.
