Just found out that most of Plat's pogo combos don't work on stupid Noel (and Celica). That bitch's hit-box has made a lot of Plat's BnBs drop since CSII. Do any other characters have problems doing combos on Noel? God I hate this character so much (since the days of CT).

Noel flubs up some of Tsubaki's combos, but like, the list of characters that 6C > CT > 5C > 2C is screwed up on in some way is like 1/3rd of the cast. =/

The real bane of Tsubaki combos is Makoto, because apparently, the tail fluffs up her hitbox (almost typed as 'hitfox'?) in some weird way that pushes her out of range for a lot of stuff. x.x

I hate character specific combos. =(

I also don't like Amane very much, but that's more because I have no idea how the hell he works than anything to do with drills.

Chip damage as a mechanic doesn't bother as much as losing 40% of my health because I blocked an attack or attacks does.

Yeah, but for that to happen he has to get a level three drill, land it, AND you have to be out of barrier.  And, he's also going to need some heat or OD, usually to get multiple hits it.

You wouldn't be complaining if you got hit by (what was previously) Mu and Tsubaki unblockables which flat out hit you if you try and block, while doing quite a bit of damage.  Furthermore, chip damage has always been in this game.  Amane just takes it to the extreme - and requires quite a bit of setup for it while sacrificing pretty much everything else, from meterless reversals to mixups.

If you're blocking a level 3 Amane Drill with no barrier you screwed up.  You're not being punished for "blocking correctly," you're being punished for screwing up.

Whoops; hadn't gotten to the last page and posted per-emptively.

I think Raviel may have just been trolling.

Pretty sure it'll be a side tourney. I think every year they switch up between BB and Persona which one gets to be on the main stage.

Honestly as much as I love that game...it's not gonna last and I'd rather see CPEX instead.

What he said. Honestly because BBCP EX is not at EVO (and also because two smash games are) it made it easy for me to pass this year and just watch from home. Had BBCP EX been there I'd be there easily.

This is totally me; Had BB been at Evo, I'd be there, but as is, I'll just be tuning in from home and maybe hitting a tournament for a game I play.

Wouldn't it make more sense to go do a side tourney to show support for the game and SHOW it has a fanbase....than ya know, not going period because its not a main game.

No, because they've explicitly said that they don't care how big a game's side tourneys have been they care how good the attendance is for the game at other events throughout the year.

That...doesn't make a lot of sense; why would they care about every other tourney, except the one on the grandest stage...

At least we got Guilty Gear amirite.

All that matters :B

No idea why they wouldn't have a side tournament for BBCP to help build up hype for BBCPE the NEXT year. They could have had it as a send-off celebration. Such a missed marketing opportunity.

Guess they figured BB wasn't really worth it. I notice BB has been getting the redheaded stepchild treatment ever since console Xrd came around.

You mean ever since BB was released, lol.

its wrestlemania (EVO). BB is basically John cena lets face it

So I guess that'd make GG Randy Orton and/or CM Punk and P4 Daniel Bryan.....bloody hell. Clearly this is all kayfabe.

At least before we had the advantage of there not being a GG sequel at the time lol.

Presumably because if a game can consistently get lots of people to go to other tournaments, then it's a sure thing that a bunch of people will show up to Evo.  Whereas side tournaments are just a measure of how many people who are already going to Evo will say "LoL, sure, I will enter an <insert game here> side tournament. I played that once two years ago."

That never stopped? Ouch.

So it's been about a week. Has anyone tested how the game plays online? Specifically for the PS4 (if anyone here bought it on that console)? I keep hearing talk of glitches and how the XBox 1 has a very good online connection (at the same time being a virtual ghost town) so I'd like to know people's experiences so far.

Personally I didn't notice any particular difference when playing the X1 version online over PS3 version.

It sure was a ghost town, though, so I have only fought four people on X1, and three were JP. Not the best sample pool.

I've been trying for matches on the PS4, but it's a mixed bag. The only populated arcade lobby shows either a 4 or 0 for pretty much everyone, so nothing is believable. As for rooms, it only shows the connection number for one or two rooms, so even if I see someone I know is hosting a room, chances are that I can't join due to it not having loaded the connection rank to match their limitations. If you make it into a room, then you just kind of roll the dice as far as everyone's connection because there is no indicator. However, if you make it past all of that and find someone of a decent connection, the in-match latency seems fine.

This has been my experience. I'm not sure if I'm an isolated case or if everyone is having this same issue.

Thank you both.

I guess it'll grow in due time then? Though I don't know how much more the XBox1 population could grow since the game is split between 3 different consoles altogether and not all 3 are compatible with each other. Price paid for wider appeal?

Hmm, IIRC weren't the PS3 and PS4 versions cross-platform? Maybe that's why? I do recall even in vanilla CP, hell even as far back as CS, I noticed that the game will load the connection for the first 1 or 2 rooms and had to take several minutes to fully load the other 9 or 10. Still if the latency is fine then that is good enough for me. I generally stick to my own rooms anyway so this pleases me.

Getting mostly 2 bars here (West Europe, PS3), and it's laggish.

Not unplayable, but not so good either.

The netcode is pretty much the same as CP1 (i'd say it's exactly the same).

So how is everyone liking CPEX so far?

The reduced hitstun is kinda throwing me off but other than that its fine? jump cancel seems a little stiff to me also

- I only play Bullet and predictably I enjoy her more/and she is better than CP 1.1.

- I like the new Guard Cancel Overdrive as it benefits me for 720A reversals.

- I already got used to the new input timings in EX so that is a non factor and jump canceling feels the same to me.

- I do like the new grab whiff recoveries.

That is all I can remember for now so overall yes I like EX and more than CP 1.1.

Despite some of the changes to certain characters, i do like this version better than 1.1. The matchups while tough, are very winnable and i do like the universal system changes that they made.
