starmine92 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 can anyone help me out on tips for dash cancelling certain moves. im having a lot of trouble learning how to dash cancel carnage scissors and BE. i always have a want to mash dash and i dont think that is going anywhere. is there a certain point in the move i should look out for to signal me to dash or something like that?
Prototype909 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 When Ragna returns his sword to behind his back is what I use for Carnage Scissors. Just feel it out, and don't mash.

Stardust94 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Alright, what i wanna know is what tools i can use to punish tager, (if anyone can answer plz) basically a tager is mashing sledge and his 2D and waiting for me to recover so he can comand grab me, i feel unsafe if i even try my quick 5B, so if anyone has advice to give me that would be nice, becuz tager is the only guy who can beat me just by throwing me...

Max range 5C seems pretty good on Tager. Inferno Divider/jump/backdash to avoid his grab. or TK GH/BE if you're feeling fancy. I like keeping meter for ID RC in this fight.

EinherjarJSRF Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I need help learning combos, cancelling, and maximizing (sp?) damage with Ragna if anyone would like to practice on psn let me know please
EinherjarJSRF Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Sorry I was unsure on where I should post this
heartlesswizard Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Please criticize one or more of these. Specifically, comment on teching out of the Litchi/Jin/Carl pressure and on any strategy errors. Thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQmleNy0uaE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9A32q8crWQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbK1GQnhxbo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2FQVzMPcJY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTDktFSTOBQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga9-_nIFZ28 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uz0x0-Msrs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQbzDyE0en4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNdRMJ0ay1U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycsTteEB-tM
A.X.I.S. Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I have only seen 1. and this is my comment: stop mashing, look up and practice combo's and mix up. stop using 5D as a blockstring, you will die for it.
What_The_Factor Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Alright, what i wanna know is what tools i can use to punish tager, (if anyone can answer plz) basically a tager is mashing sledge and his 2D and waiting for me to recover so he can comand grab me, i feel unsafe if i even try my quick 5B, so if anyone has advice to give me that would be nice, becuz tager is the only guy who can beat me just by throwing me... Honestly, instant block the sledge or 2D, and those extra frames give you time to 5B before he can throw. If you're teching it, and you mean you're getting hit by it, don't recover, or recover with C and input 623C. So, 623CC for recovering. Or 62C3C, whichever you want.
heartlesswizard Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I have only seen 1. and this is my comment: stop mashing, look up and practice combo's and mix up. stop using 5D as a blockstring, you will die for it. Thanks for the advice. I know 5D is bad in blockstrings; GH, 214D, and 2D are better. And I do tend to stick out the 5B a little recklessly, but that can be curtailed.
Sadeyo Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 For heartlesswizard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uz0x0-Msrs ^ This video here was the only I decided to view out of the few you provided. Just randomly selected one. What I want to mention is that Axis is correct about your mashing. Outside of combat and during combat. Plus it seems like you don't understand Ragna links or properties. Like what exactly jump cancels or to what exactly 6c does. I could mention a list of where you need to improve at but what Axis mentions is the start of your training.
A.X.I.S. Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 why won't he stop mashing! T_T if your gonna use 5B at max range then your combo of choice should be 5B>5C>hellsfang>follow up. you had no reason to drop easy damage when you can't properly do air BnB's in a fight, stick with what you know and slowly build on your execution. and for gods sake stop mashing. 6A, 3C, 6D, 6C are jump cancelable for ragna and you only need to use 5B>3C>5D if your close enough which you weren't most the time.
Sadeyo Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeBVzeuOb8c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZN96h7fubY Here are two matches of me returning back to Ragna after a little practice with Makoto. Lately I haven't been using him as often as I been under the impression of dropping him but right now I may actually just sub him. My style of Ragna is still his own. Critique or enjoy the fight. btw- My only regrets were not getting used the short dashes and not properly linking start-up up Belial Edge. (CT habits are hard to drop)

soujiro seta Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Why are you being so emo? Lol, aren't all ragna players emo?

Zeromus_X Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Some recent replays: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEIFNicJ3zs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfRpoMGoVB8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61GM4zs4aeA Any tips?
Sadeyo Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Ragna vs Ragna Not bad in the first minute of the video. You provided a good mix-up and defended well. I recommend IBing most things Ragna throw at you. If you could buffer in a ID the better (you'll only have trouble with his 2a). :58 into the video You managed to land a CH ID. Smart rapid, yes. Short dash into a 5b 5d (one hit) GH xn. Ladon was too high for both hits of 5d connecting into a dash j*5b xn. 1:32. You had many counter options as a © ID or even 5b. Best used after the first swing of 5d. Plus you could've punished the dash cancel with 5b xn. 1:43. Why do people intend to avoid the GH loop in the corner? You net more damage plus your still capable of pulling off a double BE in the end. Even after the failed attempt of 6a you managed to get a 5c counter hit. Link that into 6c xn. 2:19. Only in America do people tend to not tech throw. Your own fault there. Good job you didn't burst after the BE. You must have known Ladon was baiting them. 2:56. Even if it's shit damage. After the 5d. Go back to your roots and do an ID. 3:11. Full screen HF. Bait it and punish it. NO IB REQUIRED. Ragna vs Tager Safely space yourself in this match-up while keeping pressure. At the end of an attack string, make sure they are normals instead of specials. ex- ID, HF, GH distortions (Only use them if you have the heat to rapid). Tager could instantly grab you if you finish with those. Boom. There's 1/3 of your health. If you space with 5c (kaqn vs Akira lol) and you manage to connect. Don't hesitate to finish with a HF. CH- Link into 6c. Tager is crouching; more 6c. 1:00. Go back to your roots. When you know BE won't connect. Hit up that ID. Last time I checked Aksys didn't remove it. 1:05. At that range. GH loop or freely go into your safe DC 6a xn. 1:06. Stupid amount of punishment options. 5b, 5c xn that shit. Your reactions are slow. 2:00. 5c xn or 3c xn. Your call. They're both good. 2:15- 2:41. Your Ragna the Bloodedge. WTH are you doing getting Negative Penalty? You have the roles swapped in this match-up. In the end you paid for it by taking more damage then necessary. 2:53. You clashed ID with MTW. Show them who's boss and beat that shit out. Spam ID xn. 3:50. What were you baiting after the 3c? He can't burst. Continue to beast. That would have been the end of the match. Though seconds later you ate 720 and lost the match. Ragna vs Mu-12 1st round RTSD please. Block/IB lazers. In there face kills their oki set-up. Only worry about their Shoryuken when closing the distance. It's okay to sacrifice health to get in. This match-up is slightly annoying. 2nd round Ignoring one set-up. You manage to do pretty well. 3rd round I want you to notice from 2:06 to 2:12. Closing the distance managed you to take away two of her burst. Her Shoryuken is her best dp and it's really baitable. Oh right. Worry about her J*5c and 2c. They are really unbelievable. After that. You kept your distance. They placed steins and had more options to attack you in every direction. Immediately tech after a knockdown to prevent this or roll towards them. Surely many of our fights should have given you an idea how to handle this. btw- Written on notepad while watching the videos. Which explains scrunched up words. Will give notes on third fight later on. Edit 2- Added Mu-12 match up to same post. Ideas for Zeroumus_X matches.
-Ladon- Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 3:11. Full screen HF. Bait it and punish it. NO IB REQUIRED. in all fairness, I was sitting on a rapid and hadn't used HF to zone the whole set we played
