Whats your favorite version of your character from any Blazblue game and do you feel they are still fun to play in newer versions?

I've recently played Calamity Trigger for good old times and I've been having the thought of "Man I used to love this character from this version of Blazblue but hes not fun to play anymore in the next version." I enjoyed alot of older versions of characters like CT Ragna, CSEX Tager, CS Hazama and some others. Its sad when Arcsys makes a new version of Blazblue they changes them so drastically that there not fun to play anymore either they buff them in very wierd ways or flat out nerfed them :(. I wanna know what your guys favorite version of any character from any version of Blazblue is and do you feel that they are still fun even if they changed them so much. I feel like I'm not the only one that feels this way. :(

BBCP1.1 Amane is the best. BBCPEX feels like twice the effort for half the reward most of the time (though aspects of CPEX Amane are great, as a whole he's pretty awful in comparison in terms of fun). Rip 6B.

BBCPEX lambda on the other hand is way more fun than CS interactions. Exiga Nail really meshes well with lambda overall and all the oki she has gives me a little breathing room in pressure. Only complaint is that Crescent saber being no good as a starter without a rapid cancel or OD is total bunk, while Nu gets nightmare mindgames and combo starters with her crescent saber.

Only played since BBCP1.1 properly so I can't really say for the other games in the series, but Amane was really fun to use back then.

Not so much now. Requires too much work to do anything now.

CSE Valk.  Nothing like that first main.  And no, it's just not the same playing him.  It's funny though, the more options they take from him the stronger he becomes.

Hmm, I wanna say CSEX Hakumen, but I'll concede to CP1.1 Hakumen.

CP1.1 is the perfect balance of solid without being OP that I learned to appreciate over time. Its a shame they nerfed most of his primary options (again...) in CPEX, but I hope CF gives me something to look forward to.

I actually liked CP1.0-CP1.1 Ragna more than CSEX Ragna honestly, the latter is a little too...dumb for me. Don't get me wrong, I loved the damage and all that jazz, but getting so much with so little effort is LOLOLOL. CP era Ragna feels like a bit more effort to earn your high damage.

Tsubaki CS2 forever.

Was coming in here to say basically this. RIP, good normals.

I really liked CT Nu. I got so hyped for CP1 Nu that I actually bought a PS3 to play CP, but even Dia forma didn't really felt even close to the original. Maybe she was broken, maybe it was the easy special buttons... (I'm still waiting for their glorious return.) I dunno. I just liked it.

CSE Lambda is pretty cool too, but no 5DD > 4DD just makes ground-zoning weird. Same issue I have with CP 1.1 Luna forma.

CSEX Platinum. She was my main when I picked up the series at the end of CS2, and then I actually started learning her and the game better during CSEX. She was a lot of fun because her combo routes felt so flexible. More often than not I would be making up combos on the spot for the sake of experimentation and I really enjoyed it. It also took me a long time to get her 2C > Dream Sally  > 6C > 22C timing right for corner combos, so I really enjoyed doing it. I didn't have to choose between damage and oki because I could use Mami twice in a combo.

CP Platinum felt pretty bad for a while and I ultimately dropped the character in favor of Noel. I mean, her presents were really fun, especially the super version, but she did not feel nearly as satisfying a character. Her combos felt weak. Her j.C used to be godly but it lost a lot of its potential. CPEX Platinum seems to be a lot better, but I haven't relearned her yet. CF Platinum will probably shake things up a bit with low / high Mami and her boomerang item.

I also miss CP1.1 Noel. When her j.C would combo into j.D universally, she felt great. I really got a feel for confirming with her off of any hit. As of CPEX she feels kind of terrible. She's still the same character overall but her combo route changes make her less fun for me. CF Noel looks even worse so far.

CT taokaka without a doubt, absolutely hate the gameplay changes they did to her in future games: making her much more difficult to play, much more reliant on loops since other options got nerfed heavily, etc...stopped maining her after that game

I prefer CSEX Ragna much more than any of his versions of CP (no need to mention CT lol, he was so crap in that game  )

CSEX Lambda in general i enjoyed that version much more that her CP one

Honestly, BBCPEX is my favorite version of Noel, which suits me just fine. I've gotten pretty used to using her tools at this point, and its the funnest its been in a while for me.

CSE Plat and CSII Jin

CSE Plat - Hella damage, 3.2K from a 5A in the corner, 5K+ from a 5C and Bubble + TK Swallow oki da gawd. Jump loops mid-screen that carried the opponent from one end of the screen to the other da bes.

CSII Jin - Combos were fluid, 3C > 236C oki was a thing, IAD j.D/j.236D mind games, 5B > IAD j.2C in the corner, freeze resets without sacrificing too much damage. Dem good ol' days ;)

They're both looking really solid in CF, so I'll probably change my opinion once I mess around with them in that game. Found those relics in my YT channel, back when I played the crap outta BB. Now I barely have the will to even fire up training mode :v:

I couldn't tell you which version of Relius is considered the best, but to me his CP 1.1 version will always have the top spot in my heart.  Jump cancellable 3C, brutal frame traps, no other character ever has given me the same impression of controlling two characters at the same time like 1.1 Relius has.

CT Rachel is a given because if it wasn't for her then I wouldn't be here today.

CS2 & CSE Rachel, I had great fun around those times as a Rachel player. Started to play more seriously with her then and learnt a lot.

CP/1.1 I'm going to say is my favourite version of Rachel. I felt I really clicked more with her that version.

Only versions of Rachel I'm not as happy with is CPE, I can still do some amusing stuff but wind regen still bothers me the most and I dodged some of CS1 lol. I still have my doubts about CF but can't make a solid decision tbf until I can play the game for myself one day.

Pre-CP Mu, for sure. Breaking guard primers was always fun, even if I usually didn't get much of a reward out of it. I miss the raw damage from the old 214D a lot too. CF seems like a definite improvement over the CPs at least.

I had fun with CT Carl too. I could never really do the clap loop, but you could tell when your opponents were afraid of the threat of it. Everyone was so convinced he was garbage back then, I kind of liked the idea of a character who was mostly trash but had a ridiculous trump card (see ST T.Hawk). He just never felt right in CS, and he's too complicated for me to bother ever going back to unless the series gets discontinued. When I saw you couldn't even sandwich loop in CPEX, I was happy I hadn't bothered to use him in years.

Of course, I've messed around with other characters too, only to have arcsys change the hell out of him. I spent like a week with Hakumen in CS before loctest news got out, and made me wonder why I was wasting my time. Stop overhauling characters for no reason, arcsys!

The struggle is real. Tip: Don't main Murakumos if they're not mu-12. You'll always have to spend a year learning them and then having to do it all over again in the next patch.

1.1 Terumi was cool. Can't really say much after that because it's the only version I played, but with 236D being pretty much junk in CF, doesn't really seem I'll have a great time playing him there. Unless I manage to land The OverHEAD. That move is sick.

For Arakune's case:

CSEX≧CS>CP>CT>>>CPII

For Tager's Case:

CP≧CSII=CPEX>CS>>CT

For if playing the newer versions. Well, I guess it won't be too much fun if your character's been nerfed a lot. But it's always going to be fun at first to see what kind of changes have been applied and see what kind of combos you can now pull off.

I for one am excited with the new changes (character and system wise) BBCF will bring.
