Vyers Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 The team/ singles tournaments themselves were fun. I'm surprised I made it as far as I did considering my execution dropped to the point where I was fucking up TK Youzansen most of the time (Need to get more practice in/ get more sleep/ fix up my stick) Vyers MM results: Doren 2k FT3 $10: I lose 3-1. Good games man. Congrats on 3rd ZeroGen FT2 $1 (originally FT3$10, but you were low on cash): I win 2-1. Ran it back I win 2-1. Your zoning game is fantastic, and your blocking is good. I saw you make a lot of come backs from no life; You've got nerves of steel. Also your costume sweatshirt is awesome. Faulty Defense FT3 $5: I lose 3-0. You wiped the floor with me in teams. I played a little better in our MM, but I had too much trouble getting in and blocking your TK special/ force break. Never played a solid Venom before, glad to get some experience with the match up. Shoutouts: KySama: You adapted very well to my style, noticed my lack of TK youzansen/ , and came extremely close to taking me out. Honestly I was expecting to beat you cleanly. Were you at EVO last year? I think I remember playing casuals with you and your friend there. Titanium Beast: I tried to play the match properly, and poke you with 5s/2s, but I didn't have the range down, you kept sweeping me. I managed to block gunblaze too late everytime you used it too. Maybe I would done better if I resorted to scrub tactics:vbang: Pot/Bridget player from South Carolina?: Barely came back from the brink against your Potemkin only to get raped by your Bridget. Need to learn the match up. I've also learned that playing Bridget on a TV without sound is a big mistake. NE: Even if we didn't play as well as we hoped we all made it a bit further than last year.
FlyMike Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 There were over 60 people signed up for GGAC, but several people had to leave before or during the singles tourney (this one guy from Florida had to leave, because his ride wanted to head back, sucks that GGAC got pushed back to Sunday), that probably left 50-60 players. It was hard to get casuals going for guilty gear. The hotel made everyone sign an agreement to pay $150 each time they caught people playing games in their rooms and the TVs had plastic covers screwed/ nailed into the input panel to prevent people from hooking them up. So only a few of the people that drove had setups in their rooms. Saturday we had no setup in the game rooms until like 4 in the afternoon when we got Heidern to use his staff powers and claim a TV for us. Ya, we(Memphis/Espada) simply had to leave before Singles even started because Teams had ran over into Sunday and had to be finished that day as well. Guys were pretty bummed about it, as our sole purpose for attending FRXIII was Tek and ggs in Gear, except Boss for BB too. If we didn't have school, work, other responsibilities then we could've stayed to damn near Tuesday lol. Whole FR tourney was exhausting, tiring, mainly due to extreme waiting and periods between matches. That took alot out of players. But mad props to Heidern for running Gear as smoothly as could be given the circumstances and for being very helpful and considerate to the players needs without being a pushover and still regulating like a G lol. Props to Larry(Shinblanka) too for the FR tourney. Shit happens with that many games running and so many entrants, but venue was still mad hype. I wasn't aware of the $150 fee for playing games in rooms. Are you fucking serious? We had a PS3 set-up in our rooms for strictly Tekken but we weren't counting on GG even being eventful, so if we had a PS2 set-up then we would've had it going as well.
Guardian Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I had an AWESOME time playing all you guys. Special shout out to LK and Desu for putting me out and into loser's respectively, I won't go down so easily next time. Kenshuma-it was good to finally meet you homie. Let's break Litchi in CS. Our casual matches are up on youtube :-P LordKnight-I should've stuck with Rachel; I never got to do my unseeable instant overhead against you :-( GGs man you're solid as fuck. Congrats on 2nd in MBAA. Xcross-It was good to meet you man, you have a really great Nu Zoogster-Congrats on 2nd place and thanks again for the strats. was totally lost in that carl v rachel. Now how about Carl v Litchi? lol Skeletal-Great Hakumen, I wish we could've played more, those couple of casual matches we had were hella fun. Ivysaur-Congrats on 1st, your Carl is a beast. If I come to FR14 let's get some more games in. Solid Play-Dude you're hilarious w/ the shit talk. GGs in CT and CS. Next time we gotta play some GG Desu-Rachel is quite retarded lol. Had a blast playing you though, you're the best Tager i've ever played. Red-Zo/AL Litchi-GGs to you guys as well, hit me up on PSN when CS comes out! Light-We only got to play once, but it was a great experience for me. GGs homie More shout outs to Flash, Doren2k, vVv scrub, Kensou, Boss, Rockstar(?), and the noel and Nu players I fought in losers. If I left you out, it's not intentional, just don't remember everyone's names. GGs to all!
faultydefense Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Woo, another final round come and gone! Props to blanka/bobsmack for gettin everything set-up and runnin the event. And good shit to Heidern for FINALLY gettin through GG teams and singles. Man is a pleasure to deal with, good shit. To all the players, thanks for comin out and doin your best to try and show that GG aint dead. Games were amazing, glad to finally have more people to play than just my roommate. @ Bama: To the sol player, solidplay i believe. You had me friday, I had you sunday, thats all it was I think. Great games, and props for never letting me move forward on the screen. Hope all that venom match-up xp can be put to use. @ sirsmoov, I thought u were gonna take down jan's team man, nice shit in teams, and from what i hear you were just rusty. Nice axl, I woulda been completely lost in singles if 40% of the matches I play back home weren't against axl, was a huge help, and I'd imagine you don't have many venoms to play against. To doren.... I'm gonna win next time, thats all there is to it. Good shit Vyers- GG's man, I'm learnin that baiken match-up too. Linuka- back and forth man, I guess it ended with your revenge. I still feel like I choked with top 8 on the line, but you didn't and thats what mattered. Way to play. Frank the tank - I dunno if you even remember that scrub venom who gave you 10 bucks just so you could wipe the floor with him, but goddam man I thought you were the best at the tourney. I swear if flash and jan weren't conspiring against you, you'da taken first. It'll be there next time man, good luck. Hotnix - we'll finish up next time...bet it Krazykorean - We should go to red lobster next time and send steve the leftovers. If you really wanna play some GG...come to texas :D I'll catch you when you've got some practice behind you. Hope I helped you out in SF4 Zoogstin - Man, by the end of our casuals session you about had my number. I'm just lucky we played in the tournament before you had me all figured out. Great shit, nice to see you adapt, and again, hopin you put that venom match up xp to good use. Btw, don't listen to me talk to myself when I play...I really need to stop that shit. Alphakami - Like fucking 3 years in the making, and we finally got some fate unlimited codes! Nice rider, wishin we had played after our little practice sessions in the hotel room...so I coulda showed you some 100% combos . All I got left to say though is gimme SER4....oh and my axl friend wants a rematch. ....can't believe I missed the CS tournament...I WAS SITTING 2 FEET FROM THE DAMN COMPUTER ps... I'd like to dedicate this FR to venom's 6P
Klaige Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 It was hard to get casuals going for guilty gear. Saturday we had no setup in the game rooms until like 4 in the afternoon when we got Heidern to use his staff powers and claim a TV for us. What the flying fuck, even in goddamn vegas where the hotel doesn't want you even sniffing your room for the entire duration of your stay it was easy to get setups going. I think it's time for Larry and crew to find a new hotel, that's fucking retarded.
Frank The Tank Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 We had a PS3 set-up in our rooms for strictly Tekken but we weren't counting on GG even being eventful, so if we had a PS2 set-up then we would've had it going as well. IF (not when) the game ends up dying here, this attitude will be the reason why. Don't count on anyone else to make the game eventful; do it yourself. We still play GG in NC because we don't give a fuck what everyone else is doing, and we love this game. I know you guys feel the same way, so keep it going.
Kenshuma Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Since everyone else had done so and I neglected to do it. Awesome meeting everyone at the tourney that I had talked to on dustloop and psn. Although I can't remember all of the names. Solidplay - Awesome casuals earlier in casuals. Your Carl is amazing. Just can't deal with the zoning, and also understand why most players hate the game. (The DAA being unsafe). Hopefully I'll see you at another tourney to run more matches. Guardian - Good shit in those casuals. It was good to finally see one of the Litchi's I considered knowledgeable on the forums. I saw the vid already. I'm tempted to upload it to my account as well. The Light - NEVER let what you've heard about someone affect your match. I saw your hands shaking. But ggs. And awesome Carl. Just, dropped loops =/ Hopefully we'll meet again. But this time for Casuals. Green_Mario - DUDE. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS YOU. It was cool to actually meet you. And what do you know, it was at a tourney. Your matches that I watched were awesome. And you had an amazing Ragna. Hopefully you and Guardian come to FR next year or something. Or possibly even EVO. xCross - CLOSE matches. Like, REALLY close. I would have had that match if I didn't drop game winner! But, it's cool. It was fun trying my staffless blockstrings on a Nu that's never seen it. But, the absence of FD stop reminded me of why I hated this game. GGs CDeezy - Another cool Litchi from the forums and youtube. I wish I would have watched all of your matches to see just how well you managed. It was cool seeing you dude. Isuyaru - CONGRADUFUCKINGLATIONS. Not that you didn't see this coming lol. Your Carl is even more beast than I thought after I saw it that day. It was an honor to watch that awesome win in the grand finals. Guess I have a reason to go to the arcsys chat now. Lord Knight - Watching you when I first came in, was a lot better than any youtube vid or live stream I saw of your Litchi. If it weren't for me watching those casuals you had, I probably wouldn't have made it to top 8. You're still one of the two Litchi's I look up to. Awesome meeting you. All the other Litchi's and people I faced in casuals & the tourney - GGs, and cool hanging out with everyone. Hopefully we'll meet again at another tourney.

Don't count on anyone else to make the game eventful; do it yourself. We still play GG in NC because we don't give a fuck what everyone else is doing, and we love this game. I know you guys feel the same way, so keep it going. Agreed. Lol I worded it wrong. Most of us haven't played Gear since console T6 dropped or way before that. We were coming to FR to take Tekken and have fun with Gear. So we totally forgot a ps2 set-up. But I feel you though, that's real shit. No doubt we'll definitely be back on it because we never gave a fuck either lol. So if I got a kick outta Gear and am kinda amped to pick it back up, then for sure our guys much better and more dedicated than me will be at least semi-inspired to play again and also travel. It'll be back rocking soon.
Guardian Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 W Alphakami - Like fucking 3 years in the making, and we finally got some fate unlimited codes! Nice rider, wishin we had played after our little practice sessions in the hotel room...so I coulda showed you some 100% combos . All I got left to say though is gimme SER4....oh and my axl friend wants a rematch. WTF I WAS TRYING TO PLAY FATE ALL WEEKEND!!!!!!! I've been wanting to show off my caster for years
Galt Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 This is Jan. I was surprised how many people showed up despite the fact that GG isn't that popular anymore. Good shit to everyone who came. And for real everyone play CS when it comes out, that game is amazing.....
Verjl Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I get the feeling i was the only scrub at FR13... shouldn't have made FR my first tourney >.> Should have stayed for CS, all your fault Ken for wanting to leave early to get home.
Eshi Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 The Light - NEVER let what you've heard about someone affect your match. I saw your hands shaking. But ggs. And awesome Carl. Just, dropped loops =/ Hopefully we'll meet again. But this time for Casuals.Actually I had absolutely no idea who you were, I was expecting some random noobie since it was so early in the tournament rofl. My hands started shaking because I couldn't believe I was risking getting eliminated so early You're a great player though, I'm glad that I lost to strong opponents and can't wait for the next time to play you in CS! You know, where I can't fall back on the infinite when you're about to beat me. Zoogstin - You know how hyped I was to finally get to meet you. Grats on second place, can't wait to see how much you stomp in CS. Wes - I still can't believe how insanely strong your Hakumen has become since we first met. You were by far the most hype player in the tourney and our matches taught me more about the Hakumen match-up than I ever knew. I hope to see you again at the next AWA... we'll completely destroy those BBCS scrubs :D Heidern - running BBCT and two different GG brackets must have been a hell of a lot of work. Major props for all the effort you put into it. I regret having to leave early, I would have loved to play you in the side event. Jan - I just want to say that you have an amazing Zangief. 5th place in that enormous SFIV bracket with everyone and their mother counter-picking Sagat must be hell. You're my hero @ Verjl, I don't know who you are but don't at all feel bad for making FR your first tournament. FRXII was my first despite being a major GG scrub, but I've never regretted getting to meet new friends and watching such incredibly strong players in person. It was my first exposure to competitive play and gave me the motivation I needed to improve.
Verjl Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Lol you beat my jin in a casual right after i asked to play you after your match with ken. But eh i guess your right, I'll have to make up for this time in CS since CT is gonna be dead by that time.
r0b0t Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I should of never stopped playing, sounds like too much hype went on. I last visited this site on 11-24-2008. If guilty gear is still in the mix next year id like to go. but thats 51 weeks from now, so we will see.
r0b0t Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Lol people stopped playing guilty gear. This is true, but what I think this tourny proves is people still want to play GG. IMO its better than blazblue. But im sure others would disagree. Wish they could make a new GG and breath new life into the game. edit: lol i have not played in so long that my signature still has my money matches lined up for FRXI haha.
DubiousCurvLoop Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I'm really glad to hear that there was good turnout and hype for BB and GG... especially GG. That was pretty much my main reason for wanting to go down to FR, but last minute issues forced me to have to cancel. Sorry to hear about the hotel disallowing gaming in the rooms though. I've never heard anything like that before. Good stuff to everyone who made it out there to play, and congrats to all the placers. Let's continue to keep GG alive and breathing!
SuperKawaiiDesu Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 is green mario even on dustloop? Anyone know any way to contact him? i want to play his ragna some more lol
Heidern98 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Imma have to shoutout later... and possibly on srk. I love all you peeps (cept the pervs and assholes). I will try to shoutout later but lemme just thank our staff and the peeps who helped me run my tournies. <3 Oh and Jake Im like wtf asking every Texas person bout you. Get back in the scene son we need that rage!!! But I am seriously considering making time for Fighting Games again, I miss the traveling and seeing the friendly faces. And all the competition.
Frank The Tank Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 What if you brought your own TV? still disallowed? Nah, that was fine. Some people didn't give a fuck and hooked their shit in anyways (some of the TVs had visible AV inputs), but seeing as how I didn't have my own room, I didn't want to risk gettin my boy a 150$ charge. I talked to Larry though, and he's already looking for a new venue for next year. Regardless, over 50 entries for GG singles and 16 teams says this game still has some life in it. Good shit to all people involved, this tournament gave me hope for the GG scene.
Vyers Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Our TV only had inputs in the back and they were all blocked off by a plate bolted over them. We didn't want to risk pulling it off and losing $150 bucks, but my group all flew down, so we had everything we needed to play but a TV. I agree that a new venue is the best idea. New England hasn't given up on Guilty Gear either, we still hold weekly fight nights and bi monthly ranbats.
Marnichiban Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I want to come in here just once and post that the results of this tournament was NOT legit. The fact that FlashMetroid cheated his way through the bracket and splitting the pot of 1st and 2nd makes this tournament void. FlashMetroid should have been sent to loser's way early in the bracket. Justin was beating him and he ragequit and reset the game. However FlashMetroid convinced Justin to let him rock because they are friends. Luckily, Justin's niceness gave way and Flash went on and won. Is this fair? Does this make the tournament legit? I don't think so. Flash shouldn't have gotten any money. This GG tournament was a fraud.
