ZONG_one Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I've been consistently getting Allecan 5C volante. Then this week comes around.. and I'm getting Allecan Volante 5C and they bounce too weird for j.2C follow up. D: With all that input, I would think it's impossible to input volante too early, but I guess it can be done.
Isuyaru Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 soujiro seta, pretty sure he's talking about something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do8ugEO6mSk#t=50s Seems to be slightly higher damage in exchange for more Nirvana health lost, and more execution difficulty.

All of a sudden I don't play for 2 days and I'm getting allecan 5c 4d....what the.... 4d? lol. I haven't played in 3 days since then. Hahaha I wonder what I'll get this time. Anyway I did a pretty good combo like last week. I think this might be one of his really damaging combos, don't quote me on this though 2D j.2C allecan 5C volante j.B j.C 8D 4C]D[ j.B 44 5C hjc j.B dj.2C 8D allgretto IAD j.2C j.B 2D j.2C 8D allegretto volante 44 gear super lol the volante 44 gear super at the end is just for show, you could have easily replaced all that with fermatta, but I like to be flashy at times . I don't remember how much damage it does though EDIT I forgot to add volante after the 5C in the beginning.

Oh that, thanks. Something told me he was, but I wasn't sure. I'm about to head out when I return I'll see if I can give him the answer he's looking for
Marionette Pwii Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 oh lordy :V mmmmkay so on spare time on school days,I play for the heck of it.I've gotten confused a lot about what goes where and stuff so mind me asking what the heck is a good closing in technique?whenever I play online it's always the same thing with people running away because they're losing to a Carl.I love using volante when that happens, however I'm a bit hesitant to jump and air dash to 5C along with it probably making me a bit too predictable so I just camp :V someone correct me here?:< EDIT: DAMN IT LITCHI translation:please help me with Litchi.
Akira-Shiro Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 >.> Carls Uppercut DD has a glitch, if u hold drive after the DD its 50% chance Ada will do volante after it ( Without inputing the command for it) this happens alot to me a messes up my combo..... Can u stop this ?.?
Mascarpone Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 don't hold D? They have enough hang time after fermata for you to release the button position yourself to launch them into a juggle ( I assume u are fermata-ing off 3C?) just let go of the button and walk a few steps, and hold the button again right before you 5C or whatever you are using to combo them with c_c you need a fairly wide spacing to follow up well anyways and usualy 3C-> Fermata happens pretty close to nirvanna.

I was just wondering whether I should try incorporating that into my combos when possible instead of something more...typical.

I did it off of a FCH J.B & ill come in close a do 5c>J.B>allegreto>8D but Ada has other plans of her own and does Volante lol i laughed so hard when realised it was a glitch.

Ehh.. IAD j.B is good. 6D is good, you can usually time a safe jump in with that. If they're running from you, have them run into the corner. Try and use nirvana 8D, volante, 623D to make sure they can't get over you to the other side. IAD airthrow is good also, if you think you can predict they're jump outs. Usually something like 6D > IAD j.B > 2A > 5A > 5B > 2B > 6B > 6D > vivace A will get you a sandwich set up. (Make sure to move/keep nirvana in range to be able to 6D during your A vivace during italicized part.) Or maybe whatever 6D> j.B/j.C > 5A/2A/5B > IAD j.2C allecan > 5B > 2B > 5C will be good for you to learn. A lot of people still don't block that cross up. In this one, everything in italics would probably be blocked, but j.2C Allecan will be the starter for sandwich, since 2A/5A/5B are all jump cancellable on block, which lets you cross up. Those two are very basic, so try and get those, and you'll learn what works/doesn't work, and be able to throw your own style into it over time.
4Corners Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Don't forget that if you have the life lead, you have no reason to rush in after them. Carl's able to set up a nice little wall next to his robot, soz just do stuff to avoid neg penalty, and wait for them to corner themselves/rush you. Then rape.
koishane Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 ok....i have tried to figure this out and cant do it. maybe im slow but idk. how to you make carl do the IAD and go to the ground so quickly?! it looks like you grab at the same time but idk. maybe someone could explain this to me plz. its the only thing i cant do atm. thx
Kyle Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 read post #5: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9103-Carl-Clover-CS1.01-101-Reseting-to-Victory!
Zoogstin Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I won my first BBCS tourney. vids coming soon I think. For those of you who have niconico accounts you have to see this carl. He's sick. Mad tight unblockable setups and cool ground loop combos using volante. On top of that he's so fast with Carl. He's running circles around the Ragna player when he has him pressured. He knows his stuff. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11797354
Prophet Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Way to go dood, congratulations! Also that video is pretty rad, thanks.
Zoogstin Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Thank A.X.I.S. for posting that vid in the video thread.
Isuyaru Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Good job, Zoogstin. Looking forward to the videos. I won a tournament yesterday as well, although there aren't going to be any BBCS videos because we were all tired and wanted to get it done as soon as possible; we didn't wait to switch the setup to one being recorded/streamed (I didn't want people to see how sloppy my Carl is after getting 5 hours of sleep total in the past 2 days anyway) The Carl in that video is the one who made the Ambivalent World combo video. It's a shame that he lost the SBO qualifier (or qualifiers?) he entered, I would've loved to see him in that.
Kyle Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Congrats to Zoogs! Vids this week everyone, Highlights, lowlights, UB's, set-ups, character specific BnB's & the Tager PAIN!
