How tight is the link between 5C and 5C after Hotaru or j.D? I'm wondering if I'm hitting the first 5C at the right time, and maybe missing the second 5C just because it's a real tight link or something.

From the first vid, his approach is more or less correct for a defensive play. You can't really outmash tao, and you sure as hell don't want to play trading game against Litchi at that distance. Bad combo selection/hit confirming and lack of real mix-up usage aside, he did well with defense, but fell short with his zoning. I'd say he should have been more aggressive when he had 5+ magatama, but otherwise, as far as game plan it's fine. Sit on your ass and work slowly for an opening. Hakumen can easily secure a combo into corner knockdown into a second combo off mix-up/bait options, so you are never out of the round until you run out magatamas.

Excellent gameplay against bang, I was really impressed especially with regards to burst baiting supers.

Also evo finals, spark was dirty had to download his match, you can really learn a lot by just watching him play, I'll be using his gameplay for the basis of my hakumen cs adventures.

That match was awwwsome, so many sick plays by both players I was literally at the edge of my seat every round.

I only saw 2-3 rounds, but I think he played the matchup almost to a T. Good capitalizing on hits, good use of hotaru, good spacing, and good teching sense (to avoid 720). I only critique his use of counters right next to Tager, which was asking to be 360/720'd, and maybe his jump-ins, some of which were prone to Tager 2c.

Otherwise, I'd say this vid is more about what you CAN do vs. Tager. I'll be watching this vid for tips, myself. :kitty:

lol that Hakumen just didn't give a damn. He got in on Tager instead of making Tager get in on him, he did all those hilarious things like going into a Mugen combo then just standing there midway through it for Tager to get up.

I'm going to aspire to play like him. :v:

Yeehaw, posting first CS upload! Me vs. one of my offline BB buddies, also the winner of the city-wide BlazBlue tourney. :eng101:

I present Takerkart vs. H_Knight19!

Btw, I'm not posting a vid for critique once, just for views. It's welcome, though.

Also, I promised I'd have some of my matches vs. that Mu I was talking about in the vid thread, but it's going to take a bit more time before I can upload since he didn't like those matches. Guess he thought he wasn't already playing 120% in those. :vbang:

That is most definitely a sweet combo vid. There's actually a lot of practical stuff in there, too.

New Acho vids have some Haku in them. #'s 5 to 8, to be precise.

It's all vs. Ragna as far as I can tell, but it should help a lot to study this sometimes frustrating matchup. Good, solid Haku play, too.

It's funny the Hakumen didn't know 1 star throw combo vs Ragna, he kept doing BC > 236A > 66 > 5B > jc > j.A > j.B > djc > j.2A > j.C (whiff).

this was my cousins first match on bbcs and he was maining hakumen

any tips or advices guys?

That looked like he was just mashing.

If you wanna learn any character it's a good idea to look at the tutorials which covers some of the basic stuff.

When your being attacked, block, don't mash D.

Learn combos, the stuff in the combo thread can help you out with that.

Learn spacing, the vid showed you at least when to use 4C but if your opponent is any closer use stuff like 5B and 5C. When your right next to the opponent use grabs or mash 2A.

Look up the stuff in the Q&A thread, watch videos of japanese hakumen, and play more. Eventually all this stuff will start to make sense and you'll at least be able to hold your own online.

All of this, but I cannot emphasize the bold section, watch videos of the pros be it japan or spark (our mod) and compare them to your replays, see what you're doing wrong and what they're doing right which causes them to win. Both replays where you win and especially when you lose.

Well, it's his FIRST MATCH, so, that means he can pretty much improve on everything. He has to develop some fundamentals and get used to the game before we can really give any real advice. It's like someone who just picked up a violin asking how to play, it's such a broad question we can't even start :P

Basic advice though:

1) Be patient and block. You're better off blocking a string of moves and waiting until they mess up, than trying to beat them to the punch. You'll just get hit out of your move and combo'd.

2) Learn your character's moves. Learn the range they hit best at and how long they take, and which ones you get punished for using because they have long recovery.

3) Learn your character's combos so you can get the most damage when you land a hit.

All of this will come with experience, especially knowing how and where to block, and when to look for grabs, etc.

The best advice we can give now is: play more. Play a lot :P

Tell him to read the stickied threads in this (the hakumen forum.)

Specifically: Sparks Hakumen Guide thread, Hakumen Q and A thread, and the Hakumen Combo thread. When he's done reading that and familiar with it, read the hakumen matchup threads. Once he does all this and practiced those combos in the H-Man combo thread, tell him to post a video - and then I'll give more specific advice.
